I’m 24 years old. But I love your style. Your channel is something new that I just discovered. I’ve only known AlphaM and Jose. But never seen channel that specialize guys in their 40. I’m sure that me as a young man can use your tips for improvement for sure. 👍
John has the perfect balance of appearance and demonstrative ability to really get the best message across. My wife sometimes watches these videos with me. Keep these suggestions going John 😁
John, this was one of my favorite videos and I recognize the time it took to pull this together. I have a great deal of confidence in your advice. That said, I purchased Layrite awhile ago from a previous video and I find that it works well for me. Thank you!
John - Prior to watching the video, I applied Argan oil and Layrite cement clay before drying my hair. Based on your recommendation, I added a second application of Layrite after drying and really saw a positive difference in the initial look and hold as well as 2-3 hours later. Thanks much.
I agree they are a good combo, but my head tells me that sea salt spray should either not smell at all, or have a natural/earthy smell, but instead it smells like an old woman’s cheap perfume. Aaron and co need to change the scent of that stuff, in my opinion.
I go back and forth between Pete and Pedro putty and Layrite natural matte cream. Right now the Layrite is my product of choice. I probably would use Layrite if I could pick only one. I do love the Pete and Pedro shampoo and conditioner very much. Have been using them exclusively for last couple years. As always John, appreciate your videos.
John, a very interesting presentation but the medication they I am now on has the well known side affect of causing major hair loss. But I think the subject was well matched to your viewers needs. Phil.
Hey John, started using the Layrite super shine after a previous video of yours and really like it. Will try this clay. Can you tell us the brand of comb you are using and where you purchased it? Thanks, buddy.
Hi John, great job! I’m using P&P but was looking for a bit more shine like you do. Just ordered Layrite. Can you provide the brand for the oil and brush you are using? Thanks!
Hi John. That was a great selection to review. And I thought you reviewed and explained them very well. Thumbs up. To have capped this off, I’d love to have seen the non-blow dryer version. I’ve got a good thick head of straight hair, with a stupid amount of natural volume .. I spent years having to blow dry it, mainly to push down the top corners that would stick straight out. Nowadays i wear my hair a little longer, mainly so I can avoid having to blow dry it (it sits down on more naturally). I found it way too impractical to have to blow dry every day, and it’s better for the hair for it not to be done. Hence the real winner for me is the one that wins being able to be thrown in, and dried naturally. Do you think the results would have changed had you chosen not to blow dry? Or do you feel the main characterises would have remained? Thanks.
I just caught this video ! very good information I also am looking for a bit of a wet look and not too try and texture, so I just ordered the clay cement! Thank you for the honest review! I would like to ask you do you have any other product that gives you that wet look that is nice and natural that you could recommend? I for one have been using Pacino's styling cream and I really like it 4.0z a lot for the price. I'd love to hear your other recommendations thanks!
John, based on what I can see in your videos, I have the same texture and thickness as your hair. Also the same face shape and recently had my stylist give me your identical haircut. I too have been using LAYRITE for years. Is there anything that you use to bring out your color or is it natural? My color is a gray-silvery tone but I would kill to have mine look as white as yours. Thanks.
Great vid my dude...but the Forte and PP putty are both a paste. And the layrite product your using is a clay so it's like comparing apples to oranges...lol. a clay works completely different then a paste and both have different purposes and I'm sure you liked the clay better because it gave you a stronger hold and a matte finish...but just a FYI...👍
@@40OverFashion that one from old mate Antonio is good, but I’ve found has less hold than the Forte, so would fall at the lower end of a review on hold strength.
I think if I was YOU id be more worried about the COLOUR of my hair !!!!!! I guess your around 50 years old you still have a great head of Hair colour it !!!!
WHAT is going on Well im sat in my lounge watching this video ,, why is it ALL AMERICAN can't start a conversation with out saying "WHAT IS GOING ON GUYS "
Thanks for testing out the Forte Molding Paste, man! Great video 👏
Seriously, it’s a great product! Glad to share it and let guys know how good it is!

Hey, great video of 3 great products. I used all of them in the past, but for some reason Pete and Pedro is my go to. Great job!

Keep these suggestions going John 😁
Thank you Francis!

Good stuff Michael!
I personally like the Pete&Pedro putty goes very well with the sea salt spray as well
Yes, it absolutely does!

hi John just ordered the layrite clay looking forward to using it I will let you know how I get on regards Rory in Dublin Ireland
Thanks for watching!
Hi John.A good comprehensive review of each product and I'll bet after filming this video you had really , really clean hair. Peace .
: )
Haha! It was a lot!
Great video thanks for committing to 4 shampoos! I’ll pick up some lay-rite.
Thanks for watching Ed!
The Layrite product gave you the best finished look .... although I’ve never used it. I have used Pete & Pedro, Forte Series, and BluMann.
They’re all so good it’s hard to make a bad choice!
Pete n Pedro for me been using it for a year now I have naturally curly hair and the volume it gives is something else
Thanks Darren! It’s a good one!
Thanks 🙏 needed this ASAP!
Thanks for watching!
I go with P&P putty / sea salt spray- both from your recommendations. Great video as always- I really enjoy your channel- thanks for all you do.
Awesome! Thank you Greg!
*I purchased "Layrite" today 5-6-21 off of the strength and character of your recommendation.*
Try the sea salt spray after using the putty and you will have the perfect hair
Yes, I have it.
Nice video. What do you think about the Crafted products in general?
John, a very interesting presentation but the medication they I am now on has the well known side affect of causing major hair loss. But I think the subject was well matched to your viewers needs. Phil.
Thank you very much for watching Phil!
Perfect! Very helpful! Now what shampoo and conditioner do you use. No we don't need to be in the shower.
Great video. Do you offer style coaching for men?
Yes I do! There’s a link in the video description for 1 on 1 coaching.

It’s a I Detangle from Olivia Garden.
@@40OverFashion just ordered both from Amazon.
Hi John, great job! I’m using P&P but was looking for a bit more shine like you do. Just ordered Layrite. Can you provide the brand for the oil and brush you are using? Thanks!
Both P&P and Forte have great argon oil, so I’d suggest getting one of theirs. The brush is the I Detangle from Olivia Garden.
@@40OverFashion thanks! Ordering today!

Great suggestion, although my normal routine is to use the blow dryer. I’m not sure what it would look like air dried.
Awesome video. Do you have a brand name on that brush?
It’s the I Detangle from Olivia Garden.
Nice experiment
Thank you for watching!
Never knew that I have put oil before these products... I was like wet damp hair and product on..lol
It’s not required, it’s just something that I do to help condition and add heat protection.
Hi John, just curious - do you use any blue/purple toner in your hair? Thought a caught a glimpse, but I'm probably wrong. Thanks.
Yes, I use purple toning shampoo a few times a week.
@@40OverFashion Thanks - confirmation that my eyesight is still okay at 57!

Have you tried Gibbs Original Outlaw? If so how does that compare with these?

Thanks! I use purple toning shampoo a few times a week. That definitely helps retain the silver tone.
Nice video, but isnt argan oil supposed to be Yellowish ?
It’s clear, but most of the time they use a yellow or gold bottle.
I’m 21 and really like this channel 😂
Not interested in such products, but stayed for the presentation talent
Thank you very much!
What about Blumaan?!?
Haven’t tried it, but I hear good things.
Thanks John.

Explain the purpose of the Argon-oil...
I explained it in the video, but it helps protect from heat and it also conditions hair and makes it softer.
What about VITAMAN?
Haven’t tried it.
