The sport and events now held are night and day to these early shoots. The standard of shooter has come on so much too. Happy to say the sport is evolving rapidly!!!!!! And it would be great to see coverage from you guys at more shoots
I liked your video, here in the US we call them slingshots, I make my own out of small forked tree branches and leave the bark on them, I like the rustic look. I'm 55 year's old and I still have some slingshots that I made when I was 10 years old. Keep up the good work.
Jack Davies just taught me something with that magnetic necklace. I've been attaching one to my slingshot but it makes it a bit awkward because it throws the weight off
Wish we had this shoot still. Amazing place to shoot at. Bassaleg and the community Hall the best place but it's not really big now the sports gotten a higher following and more people coming to have ago at putting their name in the history books.

What a great sport to have a bunch of people sitting around a gym plinking targets with catapults! These are high-end but a good reminder of low tech fun that anyone can start out with for very little investment.
When we were kids we used to pinch the V shaped springs from under our beds, Get elastics off the postman and cut the tongues out of our shoes for the leather. Our ammo was iron ore balls off the railway lines. Very accurate and loads of fun. (until the police came knocking on your mams door).

I grew up hunting rabbits lizards and rats with sling shots once you get use to your sling shot you can hit anything most of the times without aiming just pull and release
Haha, I grew up shooting my slingshots gangster style. in the winter it is too cold to use the slingshots but I am looking forward to the summer where I will be after some rabbits. I want to make a thumb and forefinger support slingshot with flat bands. I am having trouble deciding the best shape for myself but I believe this video just showed me!! :)
Brandon Alan where I am yes. Depending on how cold it gets you can still shoot but its harder on the bands. When its minus forty it will literally freeze the band and snap it.

Kevin Wright wrist rocket's are fun to start, but aren't that good of slings. I'll never go back to a wrist rocket. Go invest in a rotary cutter, cutting pad, tbg rubber, and buy/make a midsized frame similar to what you see in this clip. It'll put a wrist rocket to shame (easier to draw, aim, much faster, concealable etc). Once you make the initial $30 investment you can make allot of bands and sling shot frames to figure out what you like. I recommend "simple shots" lower end slings as an off the shelf decent slingshot with everything fairly dialed in for Target shooting (but bands can be setup for hunting too). Archery and slingshots are allot of fun (I own allot of guns but they don't get used nearly as much now I've gotten into slingshots).
Now spearhunting using slingshot is quite popular in Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam & Thailand...asians skill & expert at using slingshots are incomparable.
