What a fantastic scene. Everything fits so perfectly, especially the music throughout. I don't know anything about the comic versions of these characters, but Wells, Thawne, whoever he is, hasn't been portrayed as your usual arsehole bad guy. He does have emotion, he does have feelings, and I'm glad they've done it that way.
You'll notice there's a similarity between Wells, Thanos, Wilson Fisk, and Abby. They aren't "bad guys," they have completely legitimate ideas but fulfills them in immoral ways. That's what makes them all time greats. As opposed to some schmuck who wants to "take over the world" for the hell of it.
@@iClone316 Yea but Wilson Fisk's idea was to kill a lot of people to basically burn down the entire New York City then rebuild it. Wilson is more like 2014 Thanos who decided to destory every living being in the universe so he can rebuild the universe while Eobard Thawne was killing his way to getting back to his timeline which makes him a better person then Wilson Fisk. I have absolutely no idea who Abby is.

This scene killed me. I mean, there were a lot of hints that Wells is actually the reverse flash, but I always hoped that he isn't although he is clearly a time traveler.
RaitonUser But his suit had been revealed as the Reverse Flash. If he was Kid Flash, why would he kill those people? He was evil when he killed Simon Stagg and his Reverse Flash suit was revealed in The Man in Yellow.
Yeah I know. I mean, the death of Simon Stagg can theoreticly be excused because Time and Time-Streams is kinda a wibbly-wobbly and Timey-Wimey stuff. But since they revealed his Suit I knew he has to be Eobard Tharne. I guess I don't wanted to believe that Harrison Wells is actually Evil/The Reverse Flash. But come on, I cant be the only one. This is just cruel. You are a Hero, and your Mentor is some Bad Motherfu**er!!! I mean, this is like if Obi-Wan Kenobi is THE Sith-Lord and he trains Luke Skywalker anyway to be the best possible Jedi ever, just so he can became the Sith-Lord... this is some wicked and cruel Sh*t, you gotta admit that...
RaitonUser I wished so too, I knew if he were evil he'd soon be gone from the show. His contribution to the show as being a member of team flash was really fun to watch and it seemed like he genuinely cared about Barry, his motivational speeches to Barry were just incredible and he was a genius even compared to the Cisco or Caitlin. Didn't want all that too end. I used to think he is a sort of like a anti hero who just takes harsh decisions upon killing people who can harm Barry. But I guess he sort of did started to like Barry Cisco and Caitlin it was just the future flash that he hated.
Even this far into the show, this is still by far one of the top best scenes. The acting and being caught completely off guard with this is what made the Reverse Flash's saga so amazing.
The Flash will never be this good again. Such a shame that the show has gone so downhill. Tom Cavanagh has done his best to save it with his brilliant acting & recurring role as the Reverse Flash...but he can only be as good as the show's writing.
+yacyu uzi I think he was more hurt than anything. Cisco's character to me is child. He's just in a mans body. He shows what it like to experience everything for the first time. Learning your hero is not that awesome!
I remember watching this episode. Man I was so sad that Cisco died and I was in shock. But when Barry ran at the end and ended up reversing time, I knew that meant Cisco was alive. This was an excellent episode. Especially with the look of shock, sadness and fear in Cisco’s face.
Zoom is a psychopath and, at times, can't conceal it; in his world, he killed people for fun before getting his powers. With Well, who's a bad guy as well, but he's a scientist that's mostly a hater for the Flash.
tbh eobard never intended to kill barry or takeover the earth....he just wanted to go home after failing and being stranded; zoom on the other hand killed for fun and was killing people by the dozen to intimidate; basically, for reverse flash it was a personal matter with barry and zoom is just a terrorist
Canute87 I think everyone above me has already given good answers but I'll add my two cents. Zoom is a sociopath through and through. He is cruel, sadistic, violent, manipulative, and has an ego the size of the planet if not more. Zoom's entire motivation is a seemingly pathological need to watch people suffer before they die (and in my honest opinion an effect of watching his mother beg for her life before his father killed her) and he enjoys it a lot. He also enjoys, like a true sociopath, the feeling of having power over others just for the sake of having it rather than for any other purpose. Which is what makes him terrifying. Zoom's only plan through out all of S2 is to steal Flash's speed to cure himself. Once he does that he goes back to do god knows what at E2. To put it bluntly, Zoom is the worst type of monster out there: the type that knows what he is doing is wrong according to the rest of society but doesn't give a damn and does it anyway because he enjoys it, not because he has some higher justified (or that he would consider to justify) purpose, which is the opposite of Thawne. For all his madness Thawne has always kept his motivations at the heart of his actions he wants to torture Flash because he feels betrayed by him, he feels the Flash let him down and so he decides to take revenge because of it. Petty true but still a core motivation and goal, unlike Zoom. Because of this Thawne is really not a danger to rest of the world lest that world conflict with his goals, if so good riddance. Thawne is really only threat to Barry and his friends and anybody who stands between him and his goals. Zoom on the other hand will just kill you if he happens to see you. Tell me with which villain you stand the most chance to survive? To put it a hell of a lot more bluntly: Thawne in S1 just wanted to go home. True he did it by any means necessary but that is all he wanted. That was and remained his goal for the entirety of S1 until the end. Zoom ended up wanting to destroy the entire multiverse for the giggles. No real reason aside from the fact that he will be responsible for the deaths of trillions, which no doubt was what he intended. But aside from that he had no tangible reason to do that, he gained nothing tangible out of it, he just murders trillions and feels good about it. Let that sink in. Good day.
Machowesker17 Excellent synopsis and comparison: couldn't have said it better myself. A correction, however. According to pertinent psychology Zoom is a psychopath while Thawne is a sociopath. Same spectrum of Antisocial Personality Disorder, with Zoom at the extreme "hard" end of the spectrum and Thawne in the middle. Narcissists are at the opposite "soft" end of the APD spectrum.

YES! He can play the evil Dr. Wells, the grouchy Harry AND the free-spirited HR and be able to stay entirely in character with each. He, Cisco and Joe are, in my opinion, the best characters in the show.
Eobard genuinely didn't want to kill Cisco. He considered him as his son and Caitlin is probably his step daughter as well. He doesn't what to hurt anyone, except for Barry, that's why he worked so hard to hide his identity so he won't be forced to hurt both of them. He only need Barry and I think he won't kill anyone if only his plans succeeded. Eobard was already tired and want nothing but to return home, killing for fun meant nothing to him anymore.

Tom Cavanagh gives us one of the most masterful psychopathic villain performances ever on screen as Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne. I’d compare him to Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter which is another LEGENDARY masterpiece. Tom, your acting, is beyond our understanding…
Friendly reminder that this was the original cisco. Yes the character itself stayed the same throughout all the seasons, but the original cisco like the first one we came to love died here and never came back. Never got his powers, never got his girlfriend(s), and never even got to save the world the first time. This was the end of the first Cisco's story.
This is sooo powerful and amazing every time. Amazing acting from both of them. And also knowing how close they are off set with their goofy behind the scenes antics and their seasons greetings every season. No wonder their chemistry is amazing, as friends AND in a scene like this 😊
This is just the best Arrowverse scene hands down. Conflicted Eobart in season 1 is light years away from cartoon villain they turned him to be from then on and Tom Cavanagh is a national treasure.
The flash season 1 was so epic, I watch those clips and I still want to go back and rewatch it. It's an absolute disaster what they did to the show and how it ended was an tragedy.
IMO this is still one of the highest points in the entire ArrowVerse. The dynamic between Cisco and Thawne was incredible. While it's of course understandable that the show would focus much more Thawne's relationship with Barry, I honestly think it was to the show's detriment that they later neglected the Thawne/Cisco dynamic, also that they never even really tried with Caitlyn/Thawne. Cisco and Caitlyn both had been with the guy for years, and that kind of betrayal should carry a lot of more weight than when Barry finds out about Zoom betraying him after a mere couple of months.
Agh. I have a lot to say. first of all this director should have done all of the seasons. Second of all, reverse flash should have been in a later season. Look at this masterpiece. Best villain. Crazy good acting. Additionally, in a later season with more trust built up on thawne. The betrayal would have hit so much harder.
Yeah, apart from other speedsters the only characters in the CW that can stand up to him is the Monitor, Anti-monitor, Superman, Supergirl and probably Music Meister.
I really want to imagine Matt Lescher doing this scene rather than Tom Cavanaugh. Even though Tom and Carlos did great here. Since we see him as the Reverse Flash/Eobard Thawne from now on and not impersonating Wells anymore.
I personally prefer Tom Cavanaugh’s performance as the reverse flash. Just his mannerisms and his speech patterns give him so much depth when I think Matt Lescher lacks this is his more standard bad guy portrayal
At the original poster Cisco found a clue to who the reverse flash was he had to be killed to prevent further issues in getting back to his timeline which Barry kind of fucked that up and so did he... Point is reverse was trying to do stop being stuck and was trying to get back to his timeline to well get the might of his powers back... The said there was supposed to be a flash episode where something about zoom, reverse, and savitarr becoming one and well how barry saves the time force and runs back into himself but also changing Wally West from kid flash to the flash...
It made perfect sense. He literally said that he was sorry, but to achieve his goals he HAD to do it. Coupled with the fact that he has been dead for centuries. And all of it culminates into one of the best scenes of any media ever.
I was like, "No! This can't be happening!" Not to Cisco. He didn't deserve this! I just wanted to run inside there and protect the poor sweetie. Like, "NOO! Don't hurt him! Don't touch him!"
I like how zoom said even I'm not fast enough to do a speed mirage but the RF just did here Wtf that makes no sense... since that zoom is like ten times faster than Barry in the beginning
Mister Wallace promotes his original characters too much, CW doesn't care to up the VFX budget, hire writers that could push the title character in interesting directions, or remove filler plotlines and characters that satisfy no one but the most braindead consumers of modern media.
Reverse Flash went from being unpredictable and intimidating to an absolute joke in the later seasons. Just frequently popping up to remind Barry that RF still exists.

That vibration sound from reverse flash is so satisfying to hear. ❤️
I didn't know notice that a few episodes after Cisco remembers his death because of his powers. He basically Vibes what happens in that other timeline
1:13 - Literally one of my favorite sounds...as well as one of the most haunting.
One of the best scenes from the entire series of flash and they are Best duo of all time.
no, it is the best
This is sooo powerful and amazing every time. Amazing acting from both of them.
And also knowing how close they are off set with their goofy behind the scenes antics and their seasons greetings every season. No wonder their chemistry is amazing, as friends AND in a scene like this 😊
This is just the best Arrowverse scene hands down. Conflicted Eobart in season 1 is light years away from cartoon villain they turned him to be from then on and Tom Cavanagh is a national treasure.
Wells's actor is by far my favourite actor in TV shows.
His voice is amazing and the charisma is insane.
Episode 15 is a banger in every season. Can't wait for 8x15
The flash season 1 was so epic, I watch those clips and I still want to go back and rewatch it. It's an absolute disaster what they did to the show and how it ended was an tragedy.
No scene Can even come close to this scene its the best scene the writing and acting and everything is just perfect in that scene.
This show will never be this great again.
this was easily the best scene for me because i memorized their conversation
How could the writing go from THIS good to...... how bad it is today?
IMO this is still one of the highest points in the entire ArrowVerse. The dynamic between Cisco and Thawne was incredible. While it's of course understandable that the show would focus much more Thawne's relationship with Barry, I honestly think it was to the show's detriment that they later neglected the Thawne/Cisco dynamic, also that they never even really tried with Caitlyn/Thawne. Cisco and Caitlyn both had been with the guy for years, and that kind of betrayal should carry a lot of more weight than when Barry finds out about Zoom betraying him after a mere couple of months.
Yeah. He's so heartbroken by this mentor and friend he's looked up to for so many years
Agh. I have a lot to say. first of all this director should have done all of the seasons. Second of all, reverse flash should have been in a later season. Look at this masterpiece. Best villain. Crazy good acting. Additionally, in a later season with more trust built up on thawne. The betrayal would have hit so much harder.
True. Even though this hits hard right now
Damn one on one with a speedster is like the worst thing , You can't run basicly nothing you can do ....
U can fight
How are you going to fight someone if you can't touch him.
Batman vs Reverse flash
The Button #2
Yeah, apart from other speedsters the only characters in the CW that can stand up to him is the Monitor, Anti-monitor, Superman, Supergirl and probably Music Meister.
@@TheMVPSteveNash Thawne has even beaten superman. He mentioned in season 2 or 3 I guess
Most badass entrance ever. No fanfare, no epic music, no over the top schtick. Just a blunt sentence, and a very real threat.
They are playing his theme but it's still really good
Man... this scene still gives me the chills.
Tom cavanaugh is a power House. ..solid writing

Both are great
Cisco I am like your father
Seriously though you can actually tell he does like Cisco and if he had the choice he wouldn’t kill him
They’ll never be able to make this show as good as this ever again
You could tell Cisco was so scared I felt so bad for him because he knew he wasn’t getting out of there alive
I’ll never forget watching this episode when it first aired years ago
season one was so good, evil wells just has the coolest vibe
Takes the cake for top villain monologue
I remember this scene it made me cry when the episode it was in came out.
Voodoosan same!
And this is why I was happy Barry went back in Time at the end of the episode.
I still remember this like it was yesterday
God I miss the earlier seasons of the Flash. Season one was just magical.
Harrison wells was extremely bogus for killing Cisco even after he said he thought of Cisco as a son.
But hes been dead for centuries so yeah
thedccomic king it was still bogus
Harvey he's from the future...
3:05 that look in his eyes of confusion at how he never meant to grow fond of them! Gah this acting!!
Damn bro.. season 1 of the Flash was just a masterpiece. Idk what they were thinking afterwards 🤦🏾♂️
I feel bad for cisco😢😔💔
Idc what arrow fanboys say. Reverse flash is and always will be the best villan from the arrow verse.
Still waiting for Flash's redemption after this masterpiece of a scene
Coldest and darkest moment ever 💔 in the history of flash💔
I had one of that dream and I was still alive
i know this is old but this scene still makes me cry
When I don't clean my room my mom be like 3:18
At least in Game of Thrones you're psyched that every character will die, but this caught me off guard. One of the best episodes of The Flash.
Question: How does the victim feel this death? How does getting your organs shredded at the molecular level feel like?
Extremely painful is my best guess :P
Doubt that.
At a molecular level you are smaller then pain receptors.
I imagine its instant death really.
Jireh Garcia when he someone does that movie, that persons heart beat instantly stops functioning and you basically drop dead
Jireh Garcia s
@John Ts For you.
I was like, "No! This can't be happening!" Not to Cisco. He didn't deserve this! I just wanted to run inside there and protect the poor sweetie. Like, "NOO! Don't hurt him! Don't touch him!"
I like how zoom said even I'm not fast enough to do a speed mirage but the RF just did here
Wtf that makes no sense... since that zoom is like ten times faster than Barry in the beginning
Anthony Horvath zoom couldnt make a speed mirage on 2 different worlds is what he ment, eobard did a speed mirage covering 2 meters.
@dark zeratul Yes, due to tachyon enhancement
Then clearly thawnes faster than Zolomon
How did we go from these writers to Eric Wallace and the JV squad in S7-9 😢
Mister Wallace promotes his original characters too much, CW doesn't care to up the VFX budget, hire writers that could push the title character in interesting directions, or remove filler plotlines and characters that satisfy no one but the most braindead consumers of modern media.
I love season 1 of this show so much it was perfect and this was easily one of the best scenes in the whole show
This is still the best episode in this show
Imagine being in danger and trying to run from a speedster
Impossible unless it’s Barry chasing u, he’d just stop look around for a sec and give up
A Masterpiece that unfortunately got so twisted up and that’s unrecognizable now
I'm always one step ahead.
You’ll pay for everything you’ve done Thawne
Reverse Flash went from being unpredictable and intimidating to an absolute joke in the later seasons. Just frequently popping up to remind Barry that RF still exists.
R.I.P Cisco
"I can help you" 🥺
Never gets old.
Can we all just admit that sadly Cisco died like this in the original Timeline… 😬😔
Cisco was crying cause he admired Wells (Eobard) and finding out who he really was broke his heart.
if you listen close enough, you can hear cisco's heart dropping to his pants
coolest part in the show: some would say im the reverse
The gravity of this scene is beyond amazing!
