I have been in Glasgow since past 6 months and I haven’t crossed more than 600 a month. I think 600 pound per month is enough for a student to live in glasgow, also as i mentioned it depends on the lifestyle you want. I know sharing room is not allowed, i live in a well furnished house and i pay 315 per month for a separate room which includes all the bills, and coming on what you said is absolutely right some rents are too high in central side where there are 1bhk for 800, 2bhk for 1200-1400. It depends on student where you wanna live and how you wanna live, and as many students ik here some live in rutherglen, paisley, Victoria Rd, tollcross, but no one has rent more than 400GBP Even if u pay 400GBP for rent (400rent+ 57travel + 100-150food) total 607GBP I am not saying what u said is wrong, it’s true but only in some specific locations and I believe when we are students just find a right place to live with less expenses.
