Ohio Issue 2 - Limited Legalization of Marijuana

Ohio voters approved Issue 2, and the initiated law took effect on December 7, 2023. Issue 2 enacts a change in the regulation and legalization of cannabis in Ohio. It does not repeal existing laws that criminalize the possession and trafficking of cannabis. It does, however, carve out a limited ability for Ohioans to possess, use, and grow marijuana and overrides Ohio criminal laws to that extent.
