RelicBlade is a ton of fun! Hullo! Interesting, I actually haven't spent much time with the final fantasy series, but I'd totally believe there was some inspiration there. They're cool models, I'm glad people are getting a chance to see them, thanks for watchin! :-)
I enjoy the vivid colors in addition to everything I normally enjoy. I don’t know how you got the background at ~5:03 so infinitely black (and I don’t want to know the inside baseball on how that sausage is made and just keep the magic alive) but it looks good.
@@GoobertownHobbies Ok. TLDR color theory. TLTLDR color theory in relation to refracted spectral light and its visibility on surfaces (for the purpose of mimicking the effect in mini painting). Hobby science with Brent is one of my favorites! You know, I just never really thought about polymer chains in glue. But it was really interesting to learn about. So something that I’m OBSESSED with and think about every time I have a spare minute is spectral light. 2 facets: 1. Light, white is the combination of all colors. Colors to our eyes are surfaces that reject that specific wave and that’s what gives it its apparent hue to our human eyes. I’d love to watch a vid on your take on this. How that affects our paints, and techniques to mimic certain phenom in life, example I was looking at a concrete floor, it had green on it. Grey floor. It was a reflection of white led light above it. Our brains will translate it to its ‘supposed color’ but in life many surfaces actually have different colors on them than their technical color. We filter it out because we’re so wrapped up in the day-to-day. If we harness even a small percentage of this to represent in miniature painting it could blow minds. Take NMM - I was looking at some metal gold or brass color reflecting off of some silver/steel/aluminum color metal. Or vice versa. The reflection of gold had every color in the rainbow spectrum in it twice. Never would have thought about that until I slowed down and captured it( and capture it I did 2. Infrared and ultraviolet and visibility to the naked eye. Not sure if/how this would relate to the hobby, but while we’re on light sometimes I try to see Ultraviolet in the wild with my naked eye. I’m trying to stretch my human optic ability to expand past violet and on to ultraviolet. I know it’s impossible and the closest I’ve gotten is seeing what I can only describe as wiggly gray. But I’m still going to try, and it’s satisfying to know about it being there even if I can’t directly truly observe it. I don’t know where to start on infrared. I haven’t sought out these topics to research, at the moment I’m just focused on observations in daily life and letting a little more of the light color information in instead of tuning it out due to preoccupation. I would eventually like to bring some of this to the hobby table. If you published a video on this I would hella watch it.
Oh yeah, I'm definitely going to do a color theory one of these days. how 400-700 nm relates to a circle and 3 color receptors... It's fascinating stuff, I just have to figure out how I want to present it. someday, someday... @@garylee4315
I recently purchased a massive kickstarter game set called Drakerys. Drakerys is a tabletop skirmish game where Dwarves, Elves, Orcs and Humans fight for supremacy in ancient kingdoms. Each of these factions use elementals to aid them in battle. I got the top tier lot and I purchased it dirt cheap. I paid $220 AU for a $1016 lot. Really happy with it. Only downside is I’ll be painting for a year to complete it.
I painted up two warbands for this game and have been dying to play. If you ever find yourself free and in Maine I'd be down for a game lol. Glad to see it getting some love
Love me some relic blade! Though I'm more of a gamer then a painter so it's been a hard sell for me to buy my own minis. Not having anyone to play with. Maybe one day when I get done with all my other projects...
If you decide to get into relic blade and painting, I cannot highly enough recommend relic blade minis for their ease of painting. Sean must hate painting eyes as much as I do because most of the characters have eyes that fall into one of three categories: 1. Big enough to actually do detail with only small frustration, 2. Hidden behind some other feature (bushy eyebrows, helmet visors etc.) Or 3. Some sort of creature where I can just paint them black with a pip of white in the corner as a glint of reflection.
Very enjoyable! Shrimp look great. But, I think they need more highlights and a gloss varnish to make them shiny and wet looking like shrimp are. Also, I think a lot of shrimp aren't pink until they are cooked, so go wild with the colours.
Gonna buy the skeletons. I really love Ossiarch and I think I'll buy some Ossiarch as well as the Relicblade skeleton minis! They share a cool lineage to me and the styles will compliment each other super well
I saw these at Rcon 2022, really wanted a pack but I also have so so many unpainted minis and no in person gaming groups. I resisted the urge (a rare thing for me)

I have been loving the models from when you first started to use them in videos. Very interested in getting my hands on some!
Hehehe, I hope you pick some cuties! :-)
It really is a breath of fresh air
Great game with amazing minis. I have Akhad realm gnomes and they are both amazing and fun!
that's awesome! :-)
Awesome video, I love seeing smaller companies or less known ones given some hype! If definitely helps find new adventures!
heck yeah! keep hunting for these gems! :-)
Great video as usual. Let’s see if Santa brings me any of these this year.
Fingers crossed! :-)
I enjoy the vivid colors in addition to everything I normally enjoy. I don’t know how you got the background at ~5:03 so infinitely black (and I don’t want to know the inside baseball on how that sausage is made and just keep the magic alive) but it looks good.
Hehehe thanks!!! It was a good day in my studio when I finally figured out how to take that kind of picture :-)
@@GoobertownHobbies Oh, for sure, you’re welcome. So while I’ve got you here, do you take requests for video topics?
@@garylee4315 I'm always open to interesting ideas :-)
@@GoobertownHobbies Ok. TLDR color theory.
TLTLDR color theory in relation to refracted spectral light and its visibility on surfaces (for the purpose of mimicking the effect in mini painting).
Hobby science with Brent is one of my favorites! You know, I just never really thought about polymer chains in glue. But it was really interesting to learn about. So something that I’m OBSESSED with and think about every time I have a spare minute is spectral light. 2 facets:
1. Never would have thought about that until I slowed down and captured it( and capture it I did
Ooh, those minis look really nice! I've been working on a few conversion-projects where these would fit perfectly. :)
Nice! Yeah it's a fun range :-)
Only downside is I’ll be painting for a year to complete it.
oh hey that looks pretty neat!!! nice haul, have fun painting :-)
Brent... Dangit... I don't need another miniatures game... Wait.. that's not right...
i DIDN'T need another miniatures game but now I definitely do.
gotcha!!! enjoy your new relicbuds :-)
You are not alone
I'm sold, - id play this game
That's the spirit! :-)
I loved this video! Thank you for sharing, this game is right up my alley. I can't wait to start collecting
Glad you liked it! Have fun with your relicbuds :-)
Currently painting and playing Moonstone, but I might have to give this a try sometime down the line! Great video
Awesome! I've got my eye on moonstone, it seems like it might scratch the same kind of itch for an indie game with a ton of character :-)
awesome.
I painted up two warbands for this game and have been dying to play. If you ever find yourself free and in Maine I'd be down for a game lol. Glad to see it getting some love
Yaas! Sean is the best, the game is bomb. I’m so happy people are hyping the game!
hehehe, it's so good! :-)
Love the art style
Love me some relic blade! Though I'm more of a gamer then a painter so it's been a hard sell for me to buy my own minis. Not having anyone to play with. Maybe one day when I get done with all my other projects...
It's a slow process, but we'll try to find some more players for ya :-)
If you decide to get into relic blade and painting, I cannot highly enough recommend relic blade minis for their ease of painting. Sean must hate painting eyes as much as I do because most of the characters have eyes that fall into one of three categories:
1. Big enough to actually do detail with only small frustration,
2. Hidden behind some other feature (bushy eyebrows, helmet visors etc.)
Or
3. Some sort of creature where I can just paint them black with a pip of white in the corner as a glint of reflection.
Hell yeah! Relicblade is such a cool game, great video Brent! Hoping to get some games in with peeps at next Adepticon!! 🤘🤘🖤
absolutely! :-)
Very enjoyable! Shrimp look great. But, I think they need more highlights and a gloss varnish to make them shiny and wet looking like shrimp are. Also, I think a lot of shrimp aren't pink until they are cooked, so go wild with the colours.
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Gonna buy the skeletons. I really love Ossiarch and I think I'll buy some Ossiarch as well as the Relicblade skeleton minis! They share a cool lineage to me and the styles will compliment each other super well
Heard about Sean through his latest work, SLUDGE. Love the look of Relicblade
It's really cool :-)
I saw these at Rcon 2022, really wanted a pack but I also have so so many unpainted minis and no in person gaming groups. I resisted the urge (a rare thing for me)
Congratulations on your willpower! :-) I highly recommend relicblade though, you should probably pick 'em up the next time you see them somewhere hehehehe
Going have to look into this game, I love those Pigmen and Gnomes.
yesss doooo itttt!!!! :-) there's some good pigs 'n gnomes in relicblade
