Thank you very much for your very informative videos. I am a trained gardener and have owned a flower shop for 20 years. Nevertheless, I still learn a lot from you, I love it.

Wonderful video! Planting for winter interest is something I’m very interested in, and I noted several plants to try to obtain and plant this spring. Not sure if the helleborus Anna’s Red is available here in the US, but I’ll see if I can find it! Really appreciate your detailed descriptions of these great plants.

Thanks for explaining your method for placing something like the pulmonaria further back; the rationale regarding seasonal reveal was illuminating!

Great video. I think your video popped up because I watch the middle sized gardener and she often has you as a guest. So happy to be connected. I garden in Canada’s west (wet) coast zone 8b. We’re not all ice and snow ❄️ in Canada 🇨🇦😉.

It’s really nice that you’ve come back to these plants and told us exactly how to look after them. So many people suggest plants and plant combinations for certain soil types etc., but then leave it at that! No mention of whether to prune, when to prune and so on. Thanks for this! 👍🏻🌹
Is it true hellebores don’t like acidic soil? I’ve never managed to get one to last more than a couple of years and my soil is quite moisture retentive and acidic.

I'm very fond of Heucherellas (and coloured foliage in general,) however l seem to have a regular problem with Vine Weevil larvae finding the roots very tasty and often making the plant struggle or die off completely. Apart from nematodes is there anything else that can be done to discourage the Vine Weevils?

Lifting and dividing regularly washing off the roots can help. Also repotting once a year minimum if grown in containers. The grubs tend to be right at the heart of the roots so washing can help dislodge them. I’ve also tried soaking plants in a dilute jeyes fluid as the grubs dislike this. Otherwise nematodes are the best protection used both in the spring and autumn. They are different nematodes for different seasons and soul temperatures.

@@rosyhardy18 thank you Rosy! That's really helpful. Am planning on visiting your nursery next spring; l'm relatively close by. The list of plants you've inspired me to look out for keeps growing!

Do you cut back Hellebores at all?
