Absolutely, there is Andamooka that does not need treating. There is some naturally black opal, but the best is Andamooka crystal, and at times, it's better than LR and CP crystal opal.

Riley Gunn at 53 Frogs store is where to go for Andamooka / opal auctions. 300-400$ stuff in this video is priced for like 10-20$ in Riley's store lol. Let him know you all mentioned him in the video and we had a good chuckle. Much love as always Dave brother!

Great looking pieces. The Artisan that created the bracelet's in the beginning was incredible (Alvaro I believe). Always a fun ride as you tour and check out the booth's.

10:28 LOVE Mexican Leopard Opal. Not alot of people know about it. People easily confuse its natural beauty with sugar/acid treated Andamooka Opal :(

Dave, I had a great time at time hanging out with you in Tucson. That day in particular I think we had only like 3 hours of sleep the night before lol.
I’m going to make a video of rubs and cuts I got out of the Australian Coober material I was picking through in the video. Good stuff. 😊 41:29

The information between you and the opal guy (Derrick Sobodash) was fantastic! Sad story- My grandma had ALL the old wonderful equipment as a lapidary goddess (I grew up going all over the US with her and her Geological group on expeditions and coming home to polish, cut and facet our findings- we religiously went to the gem and mineral show in Tucson since I was nine (back in the 70’s 😮) and I later became a gemologist etc.) She lived into her 90’s and was still rockhounding! However, when she passed away, I was asked what I wanted and told my uncle- her equipment! Etc and rented a trailer that week to go get it, by the time I got up there, my aunt who didn’t want to deal with waiting had sold all her stuff at a garage sale for pennies along with all her lapidaries and they took her fine jewelry to a pawn shop and sold it as scrap gold. My grandma and I were inseparable most of my life so this was beyond painful not to mention I wanted to learn more and extend my skills. I know you’re supposed to have a forgiving heart but I haven’t done it yet. 😓

Opals have always been my favorite of any of the precious and semi-precious gemstones. Problem they are too soft and scratch and break far too easily. So I stick to purchasing sapphires for jewelry
