the trust bar to get the ride phase is based off drag weight, Spino and rex will earn a full trust bar for the ride phase even if they are a level 1. once you are on the ride phase you are correct that HP is the way and in pve you cannot unclaim and feed your tames to the carcha, that is a pvp only thing.
In PVE. You have to hatch eggs near the carcha not imprint or feed them just leave them alone and eat them with the carcha rex baby’s work best. One dead baby rex to fill trust meter and like 15 baby Rex’s left unclaimed to eat should finish second stage.
Can a carchar actually eat unclaimed babies on PVE settings? As far as I know I can't damage unclaimed babies in any way, and I just assumed the carchar wouldn't be able to while being ridden either.
How to tame a Carcha: Step 1: Breed a bunch of high level rexes/Diplos to use for taming. Step 2: Find high level of crazy rare spawn. Step 3: Bring your fodder dinos to Carcha. Step 4: Make Carcha eat fodder dinos. Step 5: Eat a bunch of high level/high HP tames, without taking dmg, with a time limit. "Probably the easiest tame in the game" Meanwhile, how to tame a dodo: Step 1: Find a dodo in about 5 seconds. Step 2: Punch dodo with your fist to knock it out. Step 3: Put in a few berries. Yup, definitely harder than taming a Carcha.
You tend to cheat your way through these tutorials by spawning things in, like the diplos in this video. This means you don't demonstrate the challenges of a real tame. There are more mechanics to taming this which could get you kicked off that you didn't discuss and it's because you cheated your way through it for an easy tame. Sometimes you only have small creatures to kill and killing more than 100 creatures will get you kicked off. Also, the rage meter will get you kicked off for killing too many things too quickly. You didn't have these issues because you were killing highly effective creatures almost exclusively. This isn't a good instructional. I recommend setting up realistic scenarios going forward if you want your videos to be of value.
Another tip if you don't have access to cryopods yet if you have fertilized rex or dipi eggs cook them down to 10 seconds to go at home, then take a few with you. Also take a good mellee otter. Carcha only needs 1 bite of rex or dipi to do the 1st part of taming. So when you find a carcha place yourself a safe distance (after clearing the area a little) put down your otter and cook the egg and then kill baby when it hatches. pick up otter (make sure its on passive) and then drag dead baby rex to carcha. This saves you having to run around and find animals to kill for the 1st part of taming if you can't use cryopods on your server.
@@sandlotscout6358 actually I looked it up. Apparently if you throw an egg right on top of an otter, the egg stays at the perfect temperature to hatch. Not too hot not too cold.
@@sandlotscout6358 otter has to be on passive because you pick it back up again after the egg has hatched, and if it's on any other aggression setting it'll eat the corpse on you before you can get it to sniffing range of the carchar.
You will also get kicked off if the blood rage counter reaches 100. So since you have so much time on your trust timer, if you are ahead of the timer enough, you can simply wait a bit for the blood rage counter to decrease a bit, or completely, before continuing. Also, you need to have the baby's body in your hands to initiate the sniff, but then you can drop it, and move to a safe distance. Otherwise, it is not counted as you feeding the Carchar.
Any baby Rex or adult works. I play on official and have used dooky rexs and it fills the trust bar every time. Carry weight is your biggest enemy. Adult Rex carry weight to drag the dead body is 550
Some corrections: The reason the carcharo didn't gain any trust the first time is because you weren't holding the corpse and it didn't do the sniff animation; it only sniffs if it detects a player holding the body, but you can drop the body and run as soon as that animation begins. Secondly, there is another way you can be dismounted from the carcharo other than the trust timer running out. I'm not quite sure what causes it, whether it's eating enough creatures (therefore making it more likely if you eat lots of small creatures vs. a few big ones) or if it's just based on taming progress reaching a specific point but it doesn't tend to happen on lower level carcharos as much as higher level ones, presumably because you tame them before it reaches the point where you are dismounted. Personally, that mid-tame dismount is the part I have the most trouble with; the carcharo always seems to attack and kill me right away or get into fights with other creatures and lose effectiveness.
@@rocketman7441 Yeah I saw some other people saying that but I used the carcharo's roar to reduce the bloodrage and I'm pretty sure I still got dismounted. It was awhile ago when I tried that though so I might be misremembering. It's worth trying again
Honestly as long as you are holding something and he's not already attacking something else, you can run right up to it wait for the sniff animation then drop the body and run away. Also it will kick you off when you hit the 100 killstreak and it should kick you off when you reach a certain taming threshold like 50% I think. I don't know why that didn't happen to you but It happened to me even when I still had time left. It's only annoying to tame without a trap cause of how agile it is and how much it attacks everything else. I did wish I knew about the taming effectiveness decreasing after taking damage before we found a 150
I was gonna point out those two things but u already did :) As far as I know it should only kick you off at 100% rage metter which is the blue icon in the middle of the screen. To counteract that you can wait for the meter to go down by itself (you used to be able to roar it down, but I think it was patched).
Keep in mind what you just did with the cryopods may not work for everyone especially for those play on official servers. Because we cannot throw a creature out of a cryopod if we're further than 15 foundations away from a cryo fridge. Which means we would have to uncry at a base. Then carry the baby to the spot. Then kill the baby and hopefully that the first one will give it 100%, Only to have to do it again if we don't finish on the first try. Of course this would be much harder for solo players. If. You have a couple of friends or a clan. On An official server whether it's PVE or PVP then it would still be a little easier but more annoying. From the testing that I've done as well as a few others have already done on the test servers. We've learned that the best method for this is to attach a cryo fridge to the back of a Quetzel and then fly it to the area. Where you're gonna be taming. Leave it high enough in the sky, Where it's out of reach of most creatures but low enough to be grappled to. This would also leave your fridge and pods out of range of other players foundations which would interfere with not being allowed to throw a creature out too Close to an enemy foundation.
