It’s just a tv show, our subconscious doesn’t know what is real o isn’t.
That is rhe beauty of the character. He genuinely loves being a dad. Nit just the fun aspects. But the sacrifices, the hard decisions, the pain. He loves everything. Thats why he is jack the super hero dad.
It’s so crazy to think he’s not even a dad in real life but he plays the best one on tv. He’s said in an interview that his father is his inspiration behind this character as a father and I think that is just so meaningful and amazing.
I'm blessed that I was raised by a "jack". And as an adult woman, I sadly know few people had dad's like mine.
yeah - well i love my Dad and would not trade him for anything - but is someone like Jack realy possible? I mean life is different than this show. It is more than those moments and you witness them all. Jack has no imperfect moments with his kids. There were problems but they never went like that Jack did something wrong. What i'm saying is that his children except maybe Randall did not act like they had a father like Jack. He is a definition of perfect and his kids turned out to be broken, shallow and sometimes mean (even as childs with him around). Of course his early demise was a big part about it but i don't know. Randalls daughter is a more believable outcome i would say. But that ties in with another problem.
The fact that you know few people who have dads like Jack - i don't know. My family was/ is not perfect, but that good, that i have problems, to find people who experienced the same. But something like Jack i have never ever seen. Well the internet opened up the world and i learned there is always someone out there - somewhere, but nothing like this so far.
Whatsoever nice to hear they are out there. Maybe they make us all look bad - maybe they push us. In any case it's a good thing they are out there. ;)
The apology scene never fails to make me cry. Do you know how life changing it could be to just have a parent admit that they make mistakes too and to just apologize? What a world of difference it would have made in y childhood if I had moments like that.
I just wish my dad was like Jack.... he is just an amazing example of a father!!
When I started watching "This Is Us" I didn't know what to expect. Which is probably a good thing. I came in with no expectations and left with a new favorite show. This show have me go from laughing with the characters to crying with them all in one episode simply by showing us how diverse and complex humans are, and how much we rely on our loved ones. I have never seen anything on TV that can give me such strong emotional reactions while also teaching important life lessons. I am truly glad that this show exists and that I was fortunate enough to find it.

It's breathe of fresh air to see a loving father and a loyal husband like Jack on screen. A lot of male characters in TV are nothing but lying cheating selfish narcissist and he doesn't fall into that one. He has flaws too in the show but at least he's willing to make changes in the end and finds a way to solve it

I love this show so much and all the cast. This show touches every aspect of life. It covers birth, Death, disappointments, expectations, love and so on. I learned so much just watching this.

My dad is probably the most opposite you can get from Jack while not getting to that deadbeat dad area. I know he loves me but he never really shows it, never really believes in me. It's very telling that viewers often find the responsible, firm wives annoying or "the worst" but take no issue with the irresponsible and oftentimes criminal husbands. Abby on RAY DONOVAN also experiences viewer's ire, while her husband is free to cheat on her and beat up and kill people. No, that makes him cool!
