Man it's a shame how poorly maintained the place is nowadays, I went there a bunch as a kid in late 2000's, and everything was so much cleaner and it all felt so lived in. Nowadays Coal Creek feels less like a recreation of a Victorian town, and more like a real abandoned town...
I remember back then you could actually climb on K 169, now they've fenced it off

I completely agree! A real shame they’ve let it go this way, and a real pity the railway doesn’t run anymore, I feel that was one of the best parts!

When I was six I remember going there as part of a school excursion also the way they maintain trains is just stupid I didn’t see the narrow gauge but my favourite thing was k 169

I think the K169's whistle and Cylinder cocks are not active anymore. I've been going there for 15 years and I've never seen or heard the the whistle there

i used to run the railway museum here for a couple of years, had a lot of fun getting the model stationary engines running and i used to bring my model trains in and run them on the layout thats in there, but i left a few years ago and it looks like its not being opened anymore, i also used to open the second class carriage there, i also used to toot the horn on the blue train they run on the narrow gauge track and i have also been on the steam train as well, i had people come from all over the world and its was great to talk about the station, the engines, the train and everything else that was there.

So the south gippsland train line opened it 1888 and there was a line from dandenong to a town called woodside and at the time there was multiple branch lines such as the wonthaggi line, outtrim line , striezleky mountains line and the barry beach line in about the 1920s to the 1940s the outtrim line closed and the line from woodside was ripped up to the barry beach junction the strizleky line waas ripped up in parts and the wonthaggi line was being ripped up when it came to 1993 the line from barry beach back to leongatha was ripped up and they had only regular services running to leongatha they also had the lang lang sand train but when 1994 came the line from dandenong to leongatha was no longer a train line it became a tourist line they has tourist trains from dandenong to leongatha until 1995 when the dandenong to cranbourne was electrified and in 1998 the lang lang sand train stop running and the line between cranbourne and nyora was rotting away but in 2015 the tourist railway went bankrupt and had to closed and to this day between nyora to woodside is now a walking trail
if you want more information i can tell more if you like

I rode a diesel there about 4 years ago. Was hardly anyone on it. 2ft is really under appreciated by most railway enthusiasts.

Really like these visits to museums...
Coal Creek is a place I have visited a few times.
I was there when the site was used as a location for the movie Man From Snowy River 2 and my wife and I visited the museum about twenty years later, in the early 2000s when they had a simulated mine explosion and many many more fascinating and fun events as a part of their museum display.
I think they had a Hudswell Clark 2' gauge locomotive - or was it a Bundaberg Fowler Locomotive?
Either way, There was a definitely a steam locomotive on a short section of track when the movie was n=being made...
Looking forward to many, many more, especially the return to Coal Creek and the running of the train.
Will you be travelling to any more across Victoria and even interstate?
    NSW has many...

      As do I!
Thank you for sharing that story, must have been very interesting to see that get made! I wish they still had more interactive things like that.
From a few comments, it seems like it was a Bundaberg Fowler locomotive.
I can't wait to be able to travel and make more of these videos, ill be hopefully heading to Queensland later in the year (as long as we doing get a travel band/lockdown again) So yeah that'll be happening in the future for sure. Thanks for watching!
