As a person who gets periods, Manila’s maxi pad dress is in no way offensive. It’s not even overtly graphic. It’s obviously not an issue with blood since Sharon had blood oozing from her mouth on the runway. It’s just misogyny.

I'm confused. The show is about drag queens. Men dressing up and playing characters. Of you've transitioned then you're a women. How can you be on a show about men playing women when you're woman playing a woman. It doesnt make any sense

Honestly, I think that's the only reason there was a double win. I think Ru decided at a certain point that if Manila made it far enough she was going to win, but with her elimination it threw her off and didn't know what to do other than that.

We have an only child, and my MIL still calls my daughter by her youngest daughter's name. They look nothing alike. Nothing at all alike. To be fair, my grandma thinks my daughter is me, but she does have dementia. We do look a lot alike though.

In all honesty, the All Stars previous all-white hall of fame for the **first two** seasons wasn’t about race. Yes, All Stars 1 was basically made for Chad but she deserved a win. Alaska has favoritism, but she still killed the competition. All stars 3/4 is the issue. Shangela should have won, but the jury(the worst all stars twist) voted for Trixie because they simply liked her more. However, in All Stars 4, Trinity did do the best. I think Monique should’ve been in the top 2, she had a better overall track record than Monét. Don’t get it twisted, the importance of showing diversity is EXTREMELY important. However, drag race should be fair and crown the most successful queen on their season, and i feel bad for Monét, because her win was basically to get the fans of Ru’s back. Whatever. Shea will win All Stars 5

correction ben de la creme would have won had she not eliminated herself. and manila should of won had Naomi not eliminated her. really the other queens are to blame for this since they were the ones eliminating each other. in a normal season manila would not of been sent home.

The Manila/Maxi pad thing is so touchy, I’m shocked that RuPaul actually thought that would be in bad taste. I love what Manila was trying to do and would’ve been a great moment for the show and Manila’s career! I’m sure viewers would’ve like it too.
I agree with you. The scandal in that situation was not allowing Manila to wear the dress.
I think some of it oddly had to do with TV standards. Menstrual blood is represented as a "blue liquid" in pad/tampon commercials so they may have been trying to cover their bases. It's pathetic but that's another side to it.
Not allowing Manila to wear her dress, but allowing Trinity to lipsync vs Latrice in that gross old suit just makes no sense to me. (neither with my fantasy)
In season 7 they did a skit about eating poo. I know it was a tribute to John Waters but 🤷♀️

RuPaul didn't ban the maxi pad dress, there's super conservative broadcasting laws in the US that bans feminine products (pads and tampons) being shown with anything red ie blood. On Dragula a similar issue happened, Hollow Eve mad a dress out of tampons and wanted to use her own period blood and it wasnt allowed for health reasons. She then was going to use red ink/paint and even that wasn't allowed. In the end she ended up using a can of tuna fish as a prop during her walk.

In short, there's been fairly good representation concerning ethnicity for the crowning. However, they were talking about All stars (this was filmed before AS5 I'm guessing) where we'd had three white queens, a "white presenting" queen who's mixed race and they somehow didn't notice and a black queen, which a lot of people saw as tokienism towards the BLM movement, along with Shea when she later got crowned.
While yes Trixie appears as white, people seem to forget she is in fact native American

I'm a white-passing biracial person and I think it's important to make the distinction that she is ethnically NA, while also acknowledging that she isn't representative of PoC because she's not a visible minority. The polarising sides of this Trixie debate are both wrong IMO -- people seem to either want to diminish her identity as an NA person because they don't feel she meets their expectations of what it means to be NA, or want to use her as a signpost for NA people and the larger PoC contestant pool. She IS Ojibwe and needs nobody's permission to identify as an Ojibwe person because it's not a debatable point, however, on the topic of diversity in the context of winners what MATTERS is visible minorities being represented. I myself don't experience even a fraction of the prejudice and discrimination my family does, simply because I'm white-presenting -- I have the white privilege of slipping under the radar. Racism acts upon racially identifiable features, very often, and while Trixie is ethnically biracial, she doesn't represent people of colour because she on the surface presents as a white person.
@@naurcho I agree. I'm biracial - half Asian - but pass as white and don't experience any racism/discrimination the way my Asian friends do. That doesn't mean I'm not an Asian person, but it is as you said - I, too, am able to "slip under the radar" so the experience is vastly different

Im not even mixed, i‘m 100% middle eastern and most of my family members have experienced racism for that, including my fraternal twin brother because their dark skinned and dark haired, but I have never been a target of the same type of racism because I’m white passing, very very light skinned (For reference fentys 110 shade, bc thats what I use) and blonde. So society and everyone around me perceives me as white, therefore I benefit from white privilege. I would never claim to be “diverse” in a line up of other white girls, because I’m not.
When you pass, both groups won’t let you in and it’s not like pretending to be white makes us or our families safer from racists. Plus.... why should I hide or lie about my own genetics? There’s a lot of ignorance about what middle eastern people are allowed to look like and it’s all just dumb people watching Fox News. I claim my race quickly, and I do reject being called white. Because I’m not. I would also reject being called African American or Hawaiian. I’m not those things. I’m an Arabic woman and we deserve the word that identifies us.

I would also had mentioned Adore leaving out for the competition. She was directly insulted and attacked by the judges, and she was having a lot of issues related with mental health and emotional stability, and no one in the staff supported her. Even RuPaul didn´t seem worried for her, he was worried for the show and everybody was telling her she was being weak and self sabotaging. That was a pretty big scandal.

Normal Seasaon winners are diverse but the All Star Winner wasnt.. Ru only did a Spilt for the recent Season of All Stars because If Trinity was the sole winner, It would have been like Drag Race All Star Winner So White.. Even thou Giving the title to Monet too was a bit on the sus side.
manilla is someone i LOVE, she even said that although she had to date girls, she loved all of them, and i thought that was really sweet... and then continued to say humans are beautiful. shes a very special and awesome queen. love the dress, im so mad they made her take it off. although i think the final look complimented her performance that episode, her period piece is gorgeous. even the slick of red through her hair... everything she does is so well thought out. love her to death.
A sign that the show is rigged from earlier on is that Alaska said he had been auditioning for the show basically since it started, but only got on when his (then) boyfriend, Sharon Needles, had won the season prior.

I actually think that she was in ru’s plan since season 3, bc a lot of the queens that were on the 1 episode ended up been contestants on nexts seasons... or, at least we can say that she has been noted since that year and made a better audition tape on season 5
The double win would’ve undermined Monet’s solo win as a queen of colour, sure. But I, as a person of colour, feel that Trinity was the better queen and deserved to win more. The queen of colour that should’ve won was Shangela, but hey. 🤷🏽♀️

I have been watching RPDR for the last twelve years and, sadly, I agree that it appears to be rigged more as the years have gone on. All Stars is becoming ludicrous with people being invited to participate even if they have won their season and sometimes they are invited back on to All Stars twice. Many other 'All Stars' contestants are queens that were sent home at the beginning of their season. I would have thought All Stars may be those who made it into the top 4 or 5 of their season. At this point it appears to be just get anyone on there who wants airtime and to cause drama for ratings!

It is so obvious how overproduced the show is. Storylines are pushed to create drama, and so many people have said they’ve been treated badly. No respect for this show except for the exposure it gives queens.
very true! I thought that the Vixen was a heinous b**** until I saw the reunion and then I really realized that they had done some heavy editing to make her look that way. She was really trying to talk about some serious stuff about the show and its fan base but they did not want to hear that at all. So they turned her into a villain. Ru's response to her on the reunion was pathetic -'if you can't handle it get out!'. That's a bully response.

I loved both Nina and Bebe, I was just mad Rebecca got the top 3 spot instead of the far more talented and creative Channel.
Also, the contestants who are not native English speakers get made fun of for how they pronounce some things or do poorly in challenges because they have a hard time understanding. A friend of mine suggested they get scripts (for acting challenges and such) translated in their native languages to help them learn.

Not discredit Trinity’s and Monét’s talent but I personally think that they only got the joint win because 1. Manila who according to track record should have won was eliminated by Naomi 2. Trinity had the best track record with her wins and never being in the bottom two after Manila 3. Monet was used to ‘avoid’ the all white hall of fame ‘controversy’
Yes, between the two of them Trinity should've gotten the solo win based on track record basically which was one of the best track records in drag race history. But, at the same time Shangela should've won All Stars 3 between the top 4 (Dela had the best track record of the entire season winning or being second in almost every episode)
You can’t undermine Monet’s win to just the token black winner when she clearly was the best in the final challenge. Trinity had a better track record but Monet grew and learned so much and delivered in the very last episode. Trinity was one of the best if not the best in every challenge, but when it came to the very end, something was missing. To me, it was fair.
The winner of the entire season shouldn't be solely based on the final episode and how they did. And it's not like Trinity did bad in the final episode. She did decent. In all stars the person that wins is based on whether or not they are gonna be the future of drag (honestly that's the reason why Trixie won over Kennedy), how they did overall throughout the season, and just how much they deserved the win.

The thing i don’t understand is RuPaul creatively explains that we’re all in drag, from the moment we start dressing up for work or school we are alternating our appearance slightly.
