Mylène's parents moved back to France when she was only 8 years old. I highly doubt she already spoke fluent English back then, if she even spoke English at all. She probably learned the language at school in France, and then considerably improved her English after spending one year in California as she was working on the album "Anamorphosée"

But, the influence sting and his The Police band members have had on other musicians is not comparable. The number of sting and police songs that have been reinterpreted or served as the basis of other songs is nuts. Sting is the main composer of almost all police songs (music and lyrics) and his own whereas with mylene i can’t say the same. Filling stadiums doesn’t mean as much to me since the backstreet boys filled stadiums but have not left an imprint on music. I don’t understand your point about the US. Many of my favorite bands (new order, the cure, DM) are more popular in europe than in the US, i don’t care about one continent or the other in my assessment. Don’t get me wrong, I really like mylene’s (or boutonnat’s?) music!

Amercian talk show are very specific format, there is the pace, the language, a certain sense of humor, combine this with the fact that most talk show have no clues who most french artists have done or who they really are..it makes it diffcult for french people. French artists are just not used familiar with this. Talk shows don't exist in France
