The Luton to Dunstable line used to run behind my house. I used to run from the front to my mums bedroom to catch the 1st cement train of the day in the early morning 😜. Thanks for sharing this Vlog 👍🏻.
This video meets my definition of awesome. Around Luton and Dunstable sidings snaked all over the place. Hopefully that means more photographs will turn up in the future.
Thank you for a very interesting video as a child I used to go train sporting at Leighton Buzzard by steam train. What a fun childhood I had and so enjoyable, born in Luton but now live in New Zealand
I am also born in luton but I'm not older enough to know about this But I'm thinking of trying to build a model of the station I can't find enough information to do it yet.
There is an excellent reference site with a lot more images, including the track lifting at East Hide www.hertsmemories.org.uk/content/herts-history/topics/transport/railways/lostrails/ayot-greenway-photo-gallery - well worth checking out
Malcolm, many thanks for posting this. I can't believe I'm the first to like (thumbs up) this post. This is one of my fave disused routes so well pleased with the images and content :-)
It’s kinda sad that they just got rid off it some people say that if they wouldn’t have got rid off that they could have yoused West Midlands trains or thameslink on that line
And with the line so close and parallel to the Midland line it could stop at the new Luton Parkway station giving anyone on the ECML better access to Luton Airport - Thanks for the comment
Thanks Malcolm, will take a look at your other films too! Fascinating!
Walked some of the line a few years ago...very sad ending...bus lanes...Yuk! Thanks for this bit of railway history.
