Oh by the way, if you’d be interested in being part of the project when the construction is finished, I have been saving up lots of footage to make a documentary about the project! if you’re interested do reply :)
Let this man in! A word of advice if you want to be let onto sites like these: you'll gain a lot of instant respect from foremen if you show up with your own PPE so they don't have to drag your ass through the pile of visitor hardhats and visvests. You don't wanna wear that lice infested shit anyway, get yourself a nice shiny vest, hard hat, steel toes, eye protection and ear plugs. Hell, add a clipboard to that ensemble and you can walk onto any site you want and nobody will even question you!
I was involved with Skytrain in its very beginning (planning in 1980!) and am proud of what the system has become. Your videos are very informative and I enjoy your updates.
It was. The UTDC technology was not conceived of as an intermediate capacity rail system. Its initial purpose was as a downtown people mover (see: Detroit). It was being proposed for Vancouver as exactly that, which wasn't particularly useful. Then the question was asked...."if it's as capable as you say it is, could it go all the way to Surrey?". And the rest, as they say, is history.
These videos are so awesome! Whenever I walk by one of these construction sites I wonder what’s going on inside. Your birds-eye view and explanation of the stages of construction are so informative!
More of these from every major construction project please! You rock at this and I could listen to your voice all day. When tf is the next sufferfest coming out?!
Glad you like them! Sadly due to some scheduling conflicts we weren't able to film the next SufferFest this summer :( Aiming to try again in the spring, but trust me, it'll be good!
I was involved with the design of the millennium and canada line above ground stations, was a challenge to get things done but turned out good in the end. Hope the Broadway line goes a lot smoother!
You should do an overview video of the project because your video style is great, this series is great, but there is no video that encapsulates what this project is on your channel. This would be a great piece of content and also a good installation in your overall series narrative
Great video! Do you think it's possible for them to bury the TBMs underneath Cypress Street for easy revival in a few years to extend the line to UBC? It seems like such a waste of money and effort to launch them all over again when doing the extension again.
I don't think that's likely, since it will probably be at least 5 years from when tunneling completes this year till starting the UBC line. Plus so far all reports indicate the UBC line will be cut and cover style.
These are the best updates on the construction progress! I was wondering if Elsie was behind schedule or not? It seemed to be stationary for months longer than Phyllis.
I spent a good amount of timing digging through reports and other documents available online, but couldn't find any reliable information as to why. My personal theory is due to the complexity of the excavation under Cambie and the Canada line may have led to delays, which led to the floor not being done, so they couldn't shuttle her through on schedule.
Excellent video... but where is the million or so cubic meters of dug-up earth going? And why does the city not build apartments above the tracks on the elevated portion, like the Vancity Credit Union at Main Street Station? Since they own the right-of-way, making for much cheaper construction cost..
Glad you like them! I've got a video in the works currently as a first look before major construction starts next year. It's half written, so it should be out in about a month.
Nice woork man! I think you are shooting at a different frame rate than you are edditing, that's why the footage looks a bit crancky. keep it going! :)
@@matt495311 It's a big issue out in Langley as well. I was out filming for an upcoming video about the Surrey Langley Skytrain recently and ran into trouble nearing 196th and 203 since it's too close to the Langley city airport exclusion zone. I was able to get permission for 196th, but need a higher level of license for 203rd. Back to drone school for me I guess
Currently between Broadway and Oak VGH. This page gets updated whenever they break through into a new station www.broadwaysubway.ca/construction/current-work/
@@VB-yc7cn I saw recently on a forum that they should reach oak VGH around Oct 22nd. The only delay I'm aware of was the one related to the concrete strike last summer the pushed the project from a late 2025 to early 2026 completion. If you have new information, I'm all ears :)
@StainerTheFirst ahh I see.thanks alot.. I know one of them reaches b4 the other .. I guess Elsie first or vice versa.. anyway thanks ! Many hours and long days .. cheers to the builders/workers!
Ti Corp, I know you watch these, let me in!!
lmk if you get in, lol. Great video as always!

Thank you so much for making these videos, I love them!
I appreciate these little quarterly updates a lot. It reminds me of the "SkyTrain in your neighborhood" leaflets from way back when in the late 70s

Man, Translink needs to hire you! Great production quality, feels like watching the Discovery Channel.
This is cool to see, and praise be to The Algorithm for bringing you to me this afternoon for seemingly no reason.
Also nice profile pic lmao
So that's what the big hole in Mount pleasant is for 😅
Thanks again for the high quality video. I really appreciate the amount of time and effort you put into these.
Thanks for keep coming back to watch :)

What a great video! I always look forward to these quarterly updates! I can’t wait for your videos on OMC 4 and SLS!
Finally! I have been waiting for this for months! Thank you and keep it up!
Thanks for posting. Not alot of new information available online lately so having updates is appreciated

I love some of the designs along the millennium line, I take it some folks had a lot of fun designing them
i rly like ur voice '

I've been considering it! I've got a few other projects lined up first, so the challenge is having enough time to get everything done.
Perfect 🤠
Been waiting for thisss!!!! Thank you so much for covering it all! Much thanks :#
His insights are very appreciated, he is very knowledgeable

Usually once trucked away the spoil gets sorted and used for other infill projects around the region or preloading another site.
Yo we get graphics this time?! Treating us too well here bud

is that a Mavic 3 Pro your using for the air stuff?
Nope, I'm using a Mini 3 Pro. I'd love to use the bigger drone, but the licensing and regulations around flying it in town are a nightmare.
@@StainerTheFirst Truly. Getting an overflight SFOC and airspace permission is a PITA in Van.
