I’m moving soon. I’ve been in the desert over 2/3 of my life. I never in a million years thought I’d ever be in a position to ever ride on a sailboat, much less learn. But here I am. I think I’m thinking more about a skiff, but I still need to understand what and why. And you never know, I’ve seen $300,000 motor homes sold for $3000 cash on the barrel.
@@Tortorocuhtli For the record, I did end up becoming a deck hand on two working recreations of historic sail ships. One from the 17th century and another from the 18th century that played the Interceptor in Pirates of the Caribbean. Sailed for 10 or 11 months.

Loved this video. I was a crew member for a 41ft French sailboat but all the names I knew about parts of the boat were either in Spanish or French so this helped a lot. Cheers
I’ve just started studying for my day skipper and wanted videos to support my learning! Love your style and the way you break things down! Thank you!!!
Thank you for making short, clear videos that are very informative!!! I am watching all of them! Your English is far better than my ability to speak Dutch, so thank you also for narrating your vids in a language I easily understand. I appreciate that you try to pronounce words correctly, and you do an excellent job. The only word in this video that you pronounce a little differently than a native speaker is "bow." Bow has two pronunciations. One rhymes with "go" or "slow." It would be used in "bow and arrow" or to tie a fancy, decorative knot, as a "bow on top of a Christmas gift." The other pronunciation rhymes with "cow" or "how." The bow of a boat is the second pronunciation. Thank you again, and please don't take this comment as a criticism, because I really appreciate your excellent videos!
Thank you very much! This video is helpfull for me, im gonna use this for teaching reference about the sailboat to my kindergarten students, thank you again!
Thank you so much for these videos! I am taking sailing lessons in St Augustine, Florida starting this week. Super excited, your videos are very helpful! ❤
Can someone please answer a landlubber's question? While watching sailboat videos I notice that some manufacturers assign a three digit model number to their boats. (e.g., I just watched a video of a Oyster 625.) It was a large boat and I suspect that the 62 indicates that the boat is 62' long. My question is, what does the 5 indicate? Oyster is not the only the only company that does this. Is the meaning of that third digit the same for all boat builders? Thanks.
Absolutely amazing guide. It's surprisingly difficult to find a good guide for beginners!
Such great videos I’m not a sailor but find your video’s interesting enough to learn something completely new and off my radar - thank u!
Thank you…I know the very basics but you taught me some new stuff today!
Very nicely done, skipper!🙏🏻 ⛵️
Edit: so glad I’m subscribed to your channel
I can't afford a boat or a ship, but it won't stop me from learning and fantasizing.
You will get there. Don't give up!
Me too. Same... boat. :)

Why is the Bermuda Sloop shown in the video not a Bermuda Cutter? Since the mast is in the middle of the boat
Do cutters have more aft mast placement? I didn't know that.
How do you figure out the right hight of the mast for your boat
1,000 ft. High
THANK U😀🥳
OMG STOP WITH THE SIDE COMMENTARY AND SPIT IT OUT ALREADY
