Most of us get stuck on the brand we chose when we started gathering battery tools, and there really is no bad pro-grade brand today. I'm on the Milwaukee platforms myself, but I got a Makita corded circ saw (the HS7101) and I don't have much to compare to, but it has more power than I will ever need and feels solid like a mountain!
To your point, I've been a Makita fan since I was old enough to borrow my dad's Makita corded circular saw to build go carts and tree houses (which was before cordless tools were even close to mainstream). Guess I'm a little biased.
Worm drives are more powerful but it depends that your used to blade right sidewinder saws can be awkward if you aren’t used to them but you have to look at where you grew up in the western area in Canada I grew up around sidewinder saws except for framing and concrete forming jobs where you would almost exclusively find a skilsaw mag 77. But it’s mostly sidewinder saws in my area.

worm drives? I've only used the sidewinders myself but I hear the worm drive/lefthand blade saws are better
