Thank you so much for informing us about this release and putting out a detailed guide so quickly! I got this to work on my final gen Kindle Oasis, and now it’s my perfect e-reader with KOReader exactly how I like it. Installing it with you step by step made this feel so much less scary lol!
I am so glad to have found your video! I used a previous video of yours to install Koreader in my old kobo. And I was very excited when I heard that the kindles with the higher firmware were finally able to be jailbroken. I tried on my own and it didn't work out. But I found your video and followed you step by step and it worked! I did have trouble with installing KUAL but I finally got there. Thanks for pointing out with koreader version to run since I probably wouldn't know to use which nightly file. Thank you again! I am so happy to finally have koreader on my kindle!
Thank you very much, you helped me a lot to jailbreak my Kindle Oasis. I followed you with everything except the Kual file, I used the Kual Coplate directly and everything went smooth. Thank you again and you helped a lot even with my Kobo before. I like you videos
Awesome! First time jailbreaker here, and it worked. And I just bought the latest paperwhite, even a few weeks ago, and I was scared to try this jailbreak, but I followed the instructions carefully, and it worked. Thank you! Now, I've never used KOReader but am excited, and it's why I did this. I heard good things about it, but now all my books are in kfx and are still in the kindle, so I would love to see a tutorial for how to start using KOReader. But thank you very much for this excellent tutorial. All the best. -P.S. I tried to send epubs to my kindle now using calibre, but it doesn't work. I changed my device from kindle to generic e-ink or tablet but it didn't help. Is there a way?
Check my playlist called KOReader on my channel. You can get a lot of help there. For example how you should send epub books wirelessly now to KOReader.
@svartling Will do! By the way, is it OK to occasionally turn on the wifi to download the dictionaries from the koreader app? Or is there a risk for amazon updates?
Start by watching all my videos about koreader and you will learn a lot. Koreader needs its own library of books. You send them wirelessly from calibre easily. Or adding epub files to a folder on the kindle and make it the home page in koreader.
If you have followed the whole tutorial thenAmazon OTA updates is turned off. That is the last step in my video. You need wifi for all great features in koreader. Like wireless progress sync to all koreader devices. Or calibre integration.
Great video, thanks! :) Could You tell if after the jailbreak, with KOreader, is there a chance to turn pages using paired BT audio headset, eg via using vol up/down or prev/next buttons? TIA! :)
Thank you. Jailbreak seemed to work all the process.Unfortunately when I tried to install KOReader KUAL couldn't launch. It seems Amazon installed a nuw update just at the end of the process and there's no way right now to install again nothing of the tutorial utilities. Which firmware version Kindle show to you in settings?
It's good to jail break Kindle. Yet what extra can you do with a jailbroken Kindle? I mean how's the 3rd party reader better/worse than the native one?
KOReader can do so much more and so much better for non English readers like me. And also the freedom from Amazon you get. Check my channel for more tips and help about KOReader. There is plenty of videos
KOReader can’t use kindle KFX files and you should not use the same library of books so you have to create a new library in KOReader for KOReader. Check my channel for more tips and help about KOReader
Can you jailbreak a disabled kindle signature? Amazon told me to keep or dispose a kindle that was delivered to my neighbour who was away for a very long time. I got a replacement though. Thanks!
You can jailbreak new kindles but please note that it’s very easy to brick them so they get unusable. You will be responsible for that and I am sure it will not go under warranty
I already jailbroken my Kindle. I thought afterwards it is possible to remove the ads and set a book cover as screensaver, but i can't find the option in the menu. Any hints?
If you use KOReader that is not a problem. Because it always sets the book cover as the screensaver and doesn’t have any ads. So after jailbreak I recommend installing KOReader and use that for your library of books and reading. Otherwise I don’t have any tips for removing ads.
It’s recommended to exit if you mean using cable. But wirelessly transfer is what I recommend. See here how to do it: How to transfer eBooks wirelessly to your Kobo eReader or other eReaders - two different methods! ua-cam.com/video/2emONkbCWUA/v-deo.html
How can I remove the jailbreak? Also, can I do this without registering the device with Amazon? Also, if it is registered, will my Amazon user information be captured?
This brand new jailbreak you need to have a registred kindle. How to remove I don’t know at the moment. You can Google to find info. Or check the link with the guide for more info. The reason with a jailbreak is to get free from Amazon. You don’t need to use them anymore.
@@svartling Yes but take care: its for "ANY KINDLE (from the K5)" BTW: I love your videos very much. And your English is very good to understand. Thank you very much

Thank you for this guide, I did it to my Paperwhite 11 gen firmware 5.17.1.0.3 and everything was fast and smooth

Great video, liked it! I installed KOReader on my PW3 about a week ago, and a detailed guide like this would be super helpful.

I’m stuck at the search part. I type ;log mrpi part and nothing happens, but I do have Kual on the device.
If you have kual on the device then that step is done and you can continue
@@svartling but its empty inside there is no ko reader

With this jailbreak the kindle needs to be registered.

Can I install it on the Kindle Paperwhite 12th Generation (2024)?
Yes all kindle models. Be careful though. It’s your responsibility if you brick it.
Is there any way to do this with an unregistered/blacklisted Kindle?
No not with this jailbreak. Old kindles on old firmware can use the old way jailbreaking.
Hi. I have a kindle pw5 with firmware version is 5.17.1 so i can install koreader?
Of course if you have jailbroken your kindle
Thank you very much
You’re welcome. Good luck
I have successfully installed koreader. I want to ask how to put books into koreader.
@hahoang3206 easiest is by wireless transfers. With cable you can add epub files to a folder
Is KOReader-kindlehf for pw 12th ?
Yes what i know of at least
Thank you
You’re welcome
Today, it's possible to do the Jailbreak?
Yes why not? It will always be your responsibility though if something happens. Not mine
@@svartling I ask because a new version ending in 0.3 has been released.
@mamorunda881 if it’s called winter break then it will work. That jailbreak is for all kindles.
