  • A tiny radio with a big 2 Watt sound and a 1Ah Li battery with a Micro SD slot! Good build quality at a very reasonable price makes it tough to pass. Reasonably easy to use but you will need to read the manual. I bought mine so I could listen to MP3 files when working outside with little fuss.

Ham radio hobbyist 23 years - grounding is crucial for any radio on the AM / SW bands.
Small radios can be grounded by making a ‘dead plug’ - clip the ‘hot’ or tip off of a connector such as the headphone plug. Find which of the two plug lines are connected to the negative. You now have a ground - by connecting this line to any metal object driven into the ground ( like a nail ), insert the clipped plug into the radio. AM / SW stations will come in so strong, you may have to retract the antenna to prevent signal overload, especially listening at night.
You can also ground using the USB cable, but it’s a little more complicated.

Good tip! I'll have to experiment with that next time I'm playing with SW. I put up a long wire antenna that was fairly disappointing, want to set up some sort of tuner and or baluns to try and get more out of it.

The plastic thing on the strap is to put in the slot where the batteries go in the back,so the radio can prop up.

On the back of the V115, there is a slot under the antenna. The hole is designed to insert the black plastic sheet. However, the hole in the battery cover can also be used. lol

I will give you my point of view on this radio because I have tried a few in my life.
At the level of the loudspeaker, it is a very clean sound with a lot of bass. There is also this function reading and recording in MP3 which is revolutionary.
It is still quite pleasant in terms of handling and settings. On the other hand, if you are like me passionate about picking up fairly distant radio stations in AM and especially in FM, you will be super disappointed. In this radio, there are several problems. The LCD part gives a lot of noise on a device with a very average signal. Moreover, by dismantling the radio in function and removing the LCD, you can see it. Another problem for FM is the length of the antenna, which is really very short and too much in my opinion for correct fm wave reception. I also tried to extend it with another antenna of the same type placed end to end and you immediately notice the difference. I also think that the AM ferrite antenna is of poor quality, not to mention the SW reception which is frankly pretty bad. We can not compare for example with my tecsun PL990 but it is ten times the price it is also true. I, who found a lot of faults with the XHDATA D808 which I just got rid of, there it is worse.
Imagine that I made the mistake of buying the Prunus J-401 today because I had read in the com that it had an improvement! well it's even worse because nothing in AM on this one and FM a disaster. I would like to have answers and especially your opinion but for me it is a nice radio for the MP3 side but for the rest nothing to hope for extraordinary

Your length an in depth-comment nails it and absolutely resonates with my obersations. Simply a not that-good radio for it's core purpose. Not very sensitive and badly hampered by internal noise.

Shortwave is absolutely awful on this radio, so, if you’re buying it to listen to shortwave, forget it. Other than that, it’s a pretty good little radio.

That's not an "SD function." The radio can record whatever sound goes through it to an SD memory card.

One warning though, at least on mine, ejecting the micro SD card shoots it across the room! Can be tough to find the little card.

I have nightmares about doing tat in the grass!
That's why I just leave the micro SD card in until I get home or I change it in the bathroom of the motel room.
It's sort of a cheap Tecsun radio, but it doesn't habve SideBand or other fancy things, like Loc/DX.

You may need to format the cards. When you first select the SD the player has to scan the whole card, can take a bit of time. Also the cards can't be too slow. That 2Gb card should load right up if it's full of MP3 files, even in folders.
