A... Mysterious piece of lost media first mentioned in a random online post that actually exists, AND has a happy ending that re-ignites the original artists passion/careers? This is probably the second time this has happened.
I’ve listened to the explicit version of Everyone Knows That and was dying of laughter 😂. Who knew that it would be found on that. Another hilarious thing is that a radio station played it to help with the hunt. 💀
What is funny is that the longest section of the song that doesn't have any sort of sex noises is the part that got clipped - the guy DEFINATELY knew where the song was from, but didn't want to say "I heard this cool song in a porno - where can I find the full song?"
I don't get why ppl wanted it so bad, it doesn't seem to fit the channel. I also don't like the "ohhh mr. Wang, I'm your biggest worshiper, it is so EPIC how u talk to us about eXciting topics!" i recoginoze those are unpopular opinions

To elaborate on their search, they managed to find the original backing track. They theorize the other tracks are in a box of tapes belonging to a recently deceased friend, so they'll be checking that once it arrives. But if not, they said they'll move forward re-recording the guitar and vocal parts.
The update to that is they still couldn’t find the missing tracks, but went forward with releasing an entire album of vintage songs from the time period. Ulterior Motives was partially re-recorded and he honestly still hit those high notes 40 years later.
What’s funny about all of this, is that if Carl98 had just been honest about where he found it, this song NEVER would have gotten popular enough for the original pr0n band to discuss officially releasing it.
Those little clicks/crunches are not the bed either, as they apparently appear all throughout the film according to some guy on Reddit who did a deep dive on it for some reason
Update to the info in this video from september 2024: Chris and Phill have released the Ulterior Motives remaster alongside many of their 80’s songs such as Chemistry. While they haven’t found a high quality full recording, they found an instrumental that was the basis for the remaster. They used the Angels of Passion clip, instrumental and various low quality re-recordings in their archives to make the remaster. While they have not found the original master, Chris said he and Phill are still looking as their archive is massive. They found another of their songs called Animal in Me so there’s hope the original version of UM can be found.
Something I quite like about the Booth brothers is honestly how earnest their response to people discovering their music was. They found passionate people who loved their work and unfortunately had to go through quite a number of hoops just to find it. And right now they are doing something really nice about it, trying to both: find the original while remaking it which is honestly cool. I can't think of many instances where either the song gets re-released or re-made entirely for the sake of pleasure and letting the people hear the whole thing. Though what made me chuckle was the comment that one of the brothers said "they apparently think I'm a Japanese girl". They seem like chill people. But I do like one thing about your videos dude. Your outro is a song your band made.
I would've never guessed the Booth brothers were responsible for this song. I've enjoyed their documentaries and film work for years now. Never knew they made pop music.
This had an unbelievably wholesome ending considering where it went. It's always nice to see other artists who don't care about the money, they just do it for the love of the art.
I honestly didn’t expect this song to be discovered from an 80’s porno 😭 regardless it’s such a bop and I was so obsessed with it for a few months. I’m glad it was found even if it was under hilarious circumstances
100% OP knew it was from a spicy movie. Next time, just create a throwaway, name the spicy movie and ask about the song. Then again, if he'd done that, the song might never have gotten the amount of traction that it did. So hmm.
Seeing Christopher and Phillip being all over it this is awesome. It brings me joy that a man could make music followed by decades of music to then be found out and still wanting/loving to make this music again. These two brothers are hero’s and I’m sure they’re going to keep this long-lasting fan base forever.
I wonder if AI will make it worse to look for lost media. Like imagine a song that is very unique on its own, but only one part of it is available and someone uses AI to "finish" the song by adding less interesting parts and it's still seen as the "finished, found" version.
Yes on "More Human Than Human" - I was about 15 when that song was popular, and I loved it, but I also was so paranoid about my parents walking in on me listening to the intro 😆
The sheer number of people who thought they were TOTALLY and completely sure they knew where they had heard this is astonishing. Goes to show how powerful the human mind is, that it's so easily able to convince itself of things that never happened.
I'm not used to be emotional touched by the story behind music in a adult movie. But the part from the interview when the guy talks about the message from his daughter... damn, right in the feels 🥲 So happy, that they get that recognition now. I wish some of the bands I knew would have got ot before they broke up
I was waiting for you to cover this! I've known about this song since January, I'm glad it wasnt a Akiba Tape/Like The Wind story where it's never found...Instead it was Panchiko/Sexy Lady-esque where it's found and the artist comes out and remasters it...I hope Like The Wind and Akiba get found one day...
My ex was obsessed with this song, constantly playing a version of it. When it was found she called me at work SOBBING that it was from where it's from. I couldn't stop laughing
There's a reverse one. Björn Skifs ("Hooked on a feeling") had a song that appeared in a 70's American adult film. The song is Firefly. He partly recorded the song in Los Angeles. His friend Charlie Norman (comedian) discovered it, while watching that adult film during the 70's. Björn and his record management thought about suing the creators behind that adult film, but they got told to not do that. Since the adult industry had connections to the Italian-American mafia. It's currently unknown which 70's adult film it is.
Having helped a long time producer move into a new recording studio, I totally understand them not being able to find the masters, people who work in the industry can accumulate a LOT of music. I uncovered a couple of significant recordings for him that he forgot even existed (nothing notable to the general public, just live recordings with a guitarist he still works with). I practically begged him to let me sift through everything (this guy grew up in the industry, his dad was an engineer, and the first box I ever opened had a cassette labeled "Fleetwood Mac - demo - unreleased"), but he insisted my time was better spent learning from him
Whats crazy is that i had never ever heard of this lost song until it was finally solved. When i saw that, i just thought Like The Wind was finally solved and ended up being disappointed
Hell yes! As soon as the source was found out to be an 80s porn I knew this channel would cover this. An important clarification for everyone: People aren't making fun of Carl92 for watching porn. They're making fun of him for trying to hide the fact that he was watching porn. The Booth brothers are thankful to him and about as gracious as you would expect so I'm willing to cut him some slack. His actions led to us finding a treasure trove of amazing 80s music.
Just now I was saying, _"Huh, I'm in the mood for some Whang now"_ And just like that, new video, and about lost songs too. Love to see it, thanks Justin
The exact same story. I was actually thinking earlier today “I wonder if that one song has been found” and also thought “hmmm, I wanna watch some Whang, as I haven’t in months” like fate led me here
I am currently enjoying this video on my helix mattress...regardless of the sick, twisted, and disturbing world we live in, i can now lay down and sleep comfortably thanks to ☆Whang☆
17:29 Just a side-note. Going through videos about sample sources of the late, great MF DOOM, one track that never seemed to have a source for the beat/rhythm track was "Fazers", from his album, "King Gheedorah: Take Me To Your Leader". It turns out the track was sampled from pR0nz, possibly ghee pR0nz!
I think OP was just trying to find the full song and was embarrassed from the source he knew it from. He thought it'd be a quick thing, like using Shazam and it got out of hand.
How much do I love that you referenced that "I Glued My..." song in this video; that channel is _chef's kiss_ Loved hearing your take on this. Edit: The funny thing is, when I heard the band name "Sweeney Todd"... I'd swear I remember hearing that group name as a teen living here in the US along the Canadian border in the mid-1980s (we get a lot of radio stations and used to get the big Canadian TV networks as part of our basic cable package at that time). Come to think of it, it was probably because Bryan Adams was their lead singer for a bit. My mind is just blown...
I can’t thank you enough for talking about this. I will never forget how ecstatic I was after following the search for like three months and coming home from an algebra study session to find out that it was found and in such a weird way too. I’ve been laughing my head off ever since about how it was found.
Really like when you do the ones that end up working out in the end. Usually that video happens months down the line, but instant gratification is always cool too lol
I just love these videos about the Internet solving the mystery of obscure songs. It's honestly so cool that the Booth Brothers have been inspired by this to put out more music good for them.
It's something I find fascinating about the power of social media (when not used to spread lies and hate): for a 17 second clip from someone putting a microphone up to a TV (I'm assuming), an artist is found, reminded of their work by a generation that wasn't even BORN when it was released, and, even for a brief moment, turns that artists barely known work into a cultural phenomenon and boosts the artist to work on more projects. That's just wild
I’m super excited for the remake of Ulterior Motives, and I’m excited for a full album. I remember the day the post was made about finding it. I was excited, shocked, and all around surprised because I could finally listen to the whole song(for the most part considering the other noises).
0:31 No it was the sound of a guy munching on corn starch chips, like Bugles. The distinct crackling is unmistakable. So I guess we can say ... this hunt had a happy ending.
When people began suggesting Darren Hayes as the vocalist of "Everyone Knows That (Ulterior Motives)," I couldn't help but laugh because that's definitely not Darren's voice at ALL. I mean, I know many people say that all pop music sounds the same to them, but come on. I'm glad the original artist has finally been found. I can't wait to hear the full song!

100% OP knew it was from a spicy movie. Next time, just create a throwaway, name the spicy movie and ask about the song. Then again, if he'd done that, the song might never have gotten the amount of traction that it did. So hmm.
the most press Saleen has had since 1996
genuinely
When I'm in my mid 80's themed goon sesh and i hear the song I've been looking for for several months
Seeing Christopher and Phillip being all over it this is awesome. It brings me joy that a man could make music followed by decades of music to then be found out and still wanting/loving to make this music again.
These two brothers are hero’s and I’m sure they’re going to keep this long-lasting fan base forever.
Their syfy shows are decent too
best part is the bros are remaking/releasing the song without the moaning n what not. im so god damn excited.
They're remaking chemistry as well
“Dad, I’m so proud of you. You’re all over TikTok. And we’re all singing the song.”
bro,,,im gonna cry
I wonder if AI will make it worse to look for lost media.
Like imagine a song that is very unique on its own, but only one part of it is available and someone uses AI to "finish" the song by adding less interesting parts and it's still seen as the "finished, found" version.
You got me excited that the "other" mysterious song had been found, you know, the German one.
I wish people would continue looking for that song
They found it!
Yes on "More Human Than Human" - I was about 15 when that song was popular, and I loved it, but I also was so paranoid about my parents walking in on me listening to the intro 😆
That subtle wink at 4:42 was great
BlameitonJorge, Sakura Stardust, AND Whang posting on the same day?? On a TUESDAY? Man, today is a good day
Oh damn Sakura posted about it?
Never heard of any of them but whang
Sakura posted today? I didn’t even notice
Sakura is ass
@@LVPByou should watch blameitonJorge, he makes top tier content
The sheer number of people who thought they were TOTALLY and completely sure they knew where they had heard this is astonishing. Goes to show how powerful the human mind is, that it's so easily able to convince itself of things that never happened.
The song was found in the funniest way possible 😭
carl92 definitely remember the goonsesh and didnt want to get involved again
I'm not used to be emotional touched by the story behind music in a adult movie. But the part from the interview when the guy talks about the message from his daughter... damn, right in the feels 🥲
So happy, that they get that recognition now. I wish some of the bands I knew would have got ot before they broke up
18:50 "...that was the sound of a Big 80s Bush getting splacked up!..." Bruh, I'm laughing like a 7 year old that heard his first dirty joke!
You scared me. I thought this was an update on "Like the Wind."
Well well well...
These recent found songs gives me hope that "Like the Wind" will one day be found
I love how the Booths were looking through notes of the search, and just had a laugh about the memes it made
Having helped a long time producer move into a new recording studio, I totally understand them not being able to find the masters, people who work in the industry can accumulate a LOT of music. I uncovered a couple of significant recordings for him that he forgot even existed (nothing notable to the general public, just live recordings with a guitarist he still works with). I practically begged him to let me sift through everything (this guy grew up in the industry, his dad was an engineer, and the first box I ever opened had a cassette labeled "Fleetwood Mac - demo - unreleased"), but he insisted my time was better spent learning from him
THANK GOD IT WAS FOUND😭 It’s been stuck in my head for years
My power is out, Whang is the the only thing keeping me sane
My power is on haha
I'm the goblin draining your battery.
Darkness awaits, enjoy prison.
Whats crazy is that i had never ever heard of this lost song until it was finally solved. When i saw that, i just thought Like The Wind was finally solved and ended up being disappointed
I hate how Like the Wind has been sort of forgotten, that was the song I preferred and it was around first lol
this is great! now hopefully the most mysterious song can be found!
I now can’t even see a picture of the pink radio without absolutely cracking up the whole thing is just so funny!
Carl92 was definitely doing stuff with his whang.
Let’s just say…everyone knows that he had ulterior motives…
Carl did have... ulterior motives.
well. everybody knows that now.
So has La Cancion De Alicia, How Long (4 months ago) and now UPTOWN PEOPLE
Stop making me cry, waste my time, back to bed
Just now I was saying, _"Huh, I'm in the mood for some Whang now"_
And just like that, new video, and about lost songs too. Love to see it, thanks Justin
The exact same story. I was actually thinking earlier today “I wonder if that one song has been found” and also thought “hmmm, I wanna watch some Whang, as I haven’t in months” like fate led me here
This song gives a new meaning to "banger"
They would make a great Vaporwave/Mallsoft album
My farts are better than Carl92's farts.
I am currently enjoying this video on my helix mattress...regardless of the sick, twisted, and disturbing world we live in, i can now lay down and sleep comfortably thanks to ☆Whang☆
Honestly though a good mattress cannot be overstated
Glad Whang shouted out the OG “Most mysterious song on the internet”, was literally thinking about it the entire video.
How much do I love that you referenced that "I Glued My..." song in this video; that channel is _chef's kiss_
Loved hearing your take on this.
It's an astounding coincidence that I was just recommending the song "Roxy Roller" by Sweeney Todd a couple of months ago on Twitter.
I can’t thank you enough for talking about this. I will never forget how ecstatic I was after following the search for like three months and coming home from an algebra study session to find out that it was found and in such a weird way too. I’ve been laughing my head off ever since about how it was found.
Carl absolutely knew his priorities while watching that kind of content...
Really like when you do the ones that end up working out in the end. Usually that video happens months down the line, but instant gratification is always cool too lol
Goddammit, I clicked thinking the most mysterious song on the internet was found.
Same
My farts are better than Carl92's farts.
I guess the silver lining is that it remains the most mysterious song on the internet...
like the wind or whatever the hell? samey same.
It's been found
I just love these videos about the Internet solving the mystery of obscure songs. It's honestly so cool that the Booth Brothers have been inspired by this to put out more music good for them.
Carl 92 was one of The Booth brothers with a genius idea to get his music into the spotlight lol
Honestly, I’d listen to the guy’s music. It would be like listening to Goblin’s soundtracks to giallo films
I'm so glad to have joined the search in March this year, it was awesome to see the whole thing unfolding in its last couple months!!
I genuinely think these same people could solve unsolved murders if they focused their attention on it instead of finding obscure song's
That the second Little Nicky reference I’ve heard today. Bizarre.
Thank You For Everything, Carl92.
My man said "California Dreams"!!! That's my guilty pleasure lol. Nice shout!!
It's like if all of Whang's covered interests got combined into one thing.
