Two the weakness with Glennroe was it dependent on same characters on the show. Plus it wasn't developed properly basically it was only one day a week for 30mins. I'm a not a big fan of Fair city either. But they did up their game and that's what Glennroe should done.
You know what, the acting in this was always a million times better than Fair City but looking at it nowadays, it's still better than the rubbish you see in Fair City. Fair City should be cancelled, a waste of money.

ok, i'm american and i've watched about 3 episodes of this series so far, and i kind of want to see the rest of it, does anyone know if it's on DVD somewhere?
No DVD. RTE have no interest in marketing their archive. They should have released DVD sets in mid 2000s OR allowed a company like Network put them out.
@@Hiro-li8cf That’s it. I imagine most if not all episodes exist in archive but RTE have zero motivation to repeat, stream or release. For other programmes, they have hidden behind the flimsy excuse “Actors’ contracts have no provision for home video releases” but that issue is common all over the world and doesn’t prevent loads of archive UK and US shows getting DVD releases
The quality of the soap went downhill in the last few seasons. Mileys affair with Biddys cousin Fidema was seen by many as the 'jump the shark moment' of Glenroe. It's two leading actors Mary McEvoy (Biddy) and Joe Lynch (Dinny) decided to leave in 2000 for various reasons. This was the writing on the wall for the series. Plus, RTE lost interest in it.
The reason why Glennroe was taken off the air is because it depended on same actors and was probably developed like Cornation Street, Eastenders or Emerdale. Having a Soap like Glennroe at a time only on one day and 30mins is no good.
I have eight episodes from the Blackie Connors / The Burglar era (Nov 1993 to Christmas, or New Year 94 I think). Their format and source is MPEG from VHS and the reason I have them is because I played the actual 'Burglar' in those episodes. I have been reluctant to just go ahead and share them through my UA-cam channel because of possible copyright infringement issues with RTE. I did phone the Glenroe department at RTE years ago to ask if I could share and they said they would get back to me. They never did unfortunately ... Martin, I have added you as contact here on UA-cam now. If you can assist in any way with getting this matter resolved in ways that suit everyone I would be grateful to you. Many thanks. Louis / Lugh :)
@@darkdubh I'm just respecting Irish Actors Equity rights of any of the cast from back then, and any entitlements they might have should it eventually get the go ahead (officially from RTE) for me to share. That and as as mentioned earlier; copyright issues. Best regards.
@Louis P. Burns aka Lugh If I was you I would upload them, I see no issue at all, in fact it would bring happiness to alot of people. The fact RTE have not bothered to get back to you is telling. They dont care. The only copyright issues would be if RTE release the episodes on a dvd.
Yeah there isn't really any issues with uploading old episodes of stuff like this. If RTÉ have a problem with it, they'll just block the video. I've uploaded an old episode of Fair City without any issues.
