I recently came across your channel and really enjoying all your videos. Super informative and helpful for a newer knitter like me. I really appreciate how you explain through your thought process! Congrats on reaching 1k!
You're such a lovely person! Thanks for the great advice and points. My first sweater is a better fit for my daughter! I'm going to try this pattern in a much larger size than what I want, as I'm a tight knitter.
helical knitting is sometimes hard over raglans and colorwork-that's why I have a way that's way better than helical knitting. I have a tutorial called "easy alternator." It also does not leave a line and you don't have to shift the BOR :)
congrats on your 1k subscribers here! also, big congrats on finishing the cozy classic raglan. I love the court of thorns and roses so much!! I love that you have a sweater in a color way related to that series. I need to make that happen in my life :)
I love love love jessie maed designs and how well articulated they are. But, I totally agree, sometimes I have felt overwhelmed that it feels like "too much" at times and certainly could for a beginner. Just probably depends on the beginner and if they want ALL of the info or just to go for it.
I'm so glad you mentioned the gauge. I just cast on my first Cozy Classic Raglan and ended up going two sizes up after a bunch of frustration knitting gauge swatches. I'm grateful I understand enough to do the math and figure out how to make this work but I definitely wouldn't have as a beginner!
Thank you for making such fun and informative videos! I look forward to your shows ❤️ My favorite (and beginner) raglan pattern is the autumn league pullover by Alexandra Tavel, two of wands! I liked that there are no short rows and the fit is just like my fave sweatshirt. I have made my newest one without the front cross detail, and am planning on trying to knit a fingering weight version on smaller needles in a bigger size.
Your episodes are always so interesting and informative 👌. I am working on a Lento...it's super bright...people will certainly see me coming! I'm in a quandary. I don't think I want the cinching in at the waist or cuffs with the ribbing. I'm torn between just ending with a nice icord or doing the ribbing with the larger needle...any thoughts 🤔?
Thank you!! An icord would look really nice and I think give you the finish you want, or you can do the ribbing with the same size needle you are using for the body and/or do a split hem on the body!
Do you have the link for the ribbed cable cast on? I definitely want to try that instead of tubular. I haven't done a split hem yet but I'm going to try not sizing down on the ribbed hem needle of my second Lento to see if that will help the bottom not cinch in. Oooo I really like the new yarn choices more for the planned raglans😍
Yes! I just posted the link for you in another comment! It’s a good cast on, though it took me a little bit to hang the hang of it! I think not changing the needle size will definitely help! The Clove Sweater had you use the same needle size for the ribbing, but you do twisted rib, so the twisted rib is what cinches it in a bit instead of the smaller needle size. Ok thank you for the validation on the potential new yarn choices! I’m pretty sure at this point I’m going to make a change!
I feel the same way about being overwhelmed with all of the info as a beginner knitter. I think all of Jessie’s patterns are that way! Now that I know more I love all of the choices she give me you to customize your clothing to your body!
I love how you took that pattern and made it your own! I think it's important that we all accept that as much as we love knitting, we don't need to love all of the techniques and that there may even be some that we hate, but that's okay because there's (almost) always a different way to do them that we actually enjoy, and that's exactly what you did! Also, I'm obsessed with that white yarn so do let us know if you decide to destash it! Great episode!!
Yes, for sure! The great thing about knitting is being able to modify patterns to fit your style, your yarn, and your favorite techniques! And yes, I’ll let you know when I decide to destash some of these skeins!
HI There from your north neighbor in the San Francisco Bay Area. I just saw your vlodcast for the 1st time today. The comment I wanted to make to you is I love your cozy classic dark blue sweater. Looks like you did a really nice job on it. You mentioned that you were debating on whether to change the ribbing on the hem to split it. I checked out the picture of you modeling it Here's my 2 cents: The color is BEAUTIFUL on you. It is a star flattering color for your complexion and blue eyes. You like how it feels on you (the fit turned out great!) and you plan on wearing it no matter what. Considering these facts, if I was you I would take the short time it would take to modify the ribbing to be a split hem over your hips. Not only will it be terrifically flattering to your body shape but you will be so happy that you took this beautiful sweater to the stunning next level and it absolutely will be your favorite sweater. Just my humble opinion! Also it's an easy sweater pattern to add some custom detail like simple cabling along the side seams or up the front center so.... since it is such a flattering fit, if it was me I would make it again in another lovely yarn with some detail additions to keep your knitting game in the advancement mode. Its fun to watch your journey! Cheers, Carrie🤗💞🌼
Thank you for watching and for your comment, Carrie! I am seriously considering changing this to a split hem, but it’s in line for repairs behind one other sweater for me right now! ♥️♥️
Fantastic and helpful video! I also prefer m1L and m1R over LLi and RLi. And I also feel overwhelmed by a pattern with too much info. Sometimes less is more. 😂
Love this video! My first sweater was a toddler Flax and it was such a great straightforward pattern with clear diagrams. My second was the cozy classic light and I agree that it is SO MUCH info. I would make another now that I've made a few other sweaters, but it was somewhat overwhelming. I'm looking forward to your analysis of the other patterns as I haven't tried them! (Though HA I'm close to casting on a Lento as well) I've been eyeing the Semper V-neck but it looks like it won't be size inclusive, very disappointing.
Gauge is important but a nuisance. If you are Knitting a garment in the round you need to swatch in the round. That maybe the reason your flat swatch gauge was different than your sweater in the round gauge. Your sweater looks lovely on you.
OMG, split hem, what a great idea! I never like how 1x1 ribbing cinches at the waist on me either!
Yes! I still want to go back and add the split hem!

Thank you, Nicole! Yes, you definitely need some ACOTAR yarn! It’s so special ♥️

That Lento is going to be stunnin 😍
Thank you, Kristen! 🙌

Ok I’m glad I’m not alone! And yes it’s nice to be at a point now where you can understand how to do the math to make it work!
Team Split Hem!!
Haha woo! 🙌🙌🙌

Ooo I’ve seen many good things about that pattern and the others in the “League” bundle, but I haven’t tried them out yet!

The color choice for the Lento is stunning! It makes me want to try suri. Also hi puppies!!
The Suri is so soft, it’s incredible! And if this yarn ever goes on sale again, I’m definitely buying more!
Congratulations on reaching 1k subscribers 👏🏿 🎊. I'm newly subscribed and I really enjoy your content 😊
Thank you so much!! ♥️
Thanks 🇨🇱☀️

Cast on the Lento! It’s been going well so far! Though I’m not used to such large needles haha!
