Less is definitely more. You don't need a light over the coffee table. There's plenty of light in the room. Overhead light would be aggressive and limit where you place furniture if you want to change where you sit in the future
Stunning!!! I would say no to the light. Everything looks so open and airy without it. Less is more in this case. Don’t forget You also have your side lamps for additional light. You guys did an amazing job!!
The house looks amazing! I especially like the greenish-blueish-greyish bookshelf beside the fireplace. I think putting the light on the ceiling of the room would be too much, it would take away from the beautiful painting above the fireplace. Can't wait to see phase 2 :)
Agree, both of you have beautiful taste. Your choices are elegant and informally understated. The nods to historic references are stunning. Very happy for both of you, thank you for sharing with us. Best wishes. P.s. Looking forward to seeing what is next for the powder room, sounds striking!
I know haha! I love how down to earth and grateful he is for the things he has yet they are definitely not the most important to him. I wish he made more videos.
Your livingroom looks fabulous. Don't add the pendent light it makes it look to cluttered. All the changes are on point. Enjoy it. Your designer (aka) matt has a great eye for design.
You two are so freaking adorable! The house looks great, congratulations you guys! You want to (usually) keep laundry downstairs so in case something breaks and there's flooding/water out of of the washing machine or something it doesn't damage the floor/ceiling. It's easier to have them upstairs in terms of moving around the house, but i think they're usually downstairs for water logistics reasons I hope you're feeling better soon, it just takes time Matt. I caught it too, my doc advised me to do deep breathing exercises often and it really helped! Hopefully neither of us will get any long term effects!
We have our machines upstairs, and we had one incident where the washer overflowed but the overflow pan which was placed underneath the machine kept the water from touching the floor or the carpet. The technician who came out to repair the machine siphoned the water out of the pan, wiped it down, and everything was fine.
It's most likely concrete, so it would have to really be soaked for a long time before it damages the ceiling, or the structural integrity of the floor
I believe laundries downstairs were also pre-tumble dryers when clothes needed to be taken outside to line dry ( which I still prefer) but not all climates allow for this.
A pan under the washer would keep the water from causing further damages should it leak. Also washers can be freaking heavy. Getting them up the stairs is an effort but thankfully not something you would have to do all the time. Probably ground floor too because of the noise they make. Doing laundry while someone is trying to sleep (nightshift workers) can be an issue.
Matt and Jesse, an elegant bootroom!! Please keep an elegant downstairs mudroom, bootroom, shower, dressing room for guests and self not a powder room. Where you live, the weather is wet. People you entertain will be wearing boots/barn shoes that may be wet... They may be wet. Having a space where they can change/you can change that is not in your "upstairs" living area, is wonderful. I cannot tell you how many times I wished that I had insited on a mudroom. I currently have to go through my kitchen/livingroom to get to my bathroom. Having a full bathroom, not a powderroom and bootroom would be so appropriate and can be elegant! Don't think powderroom. You have the plumbing to do more there. Make it MORE useful. And yes, put in a washer and dryer upstairs, but leave one downstairs maybe even inside that elegant bath/mudroom/bootroom area. Make it an area where you can change into active wear/not riding wear/or not, clean shoes off, but a least drop your boots...before coming into the house proper.
First minute and I'm already laughing. Love watching you two together, always fun times 😂 I absolutely love how the house looks now. So stylish 😍 Would say no to the light above the coffee table, makes the room a bit less open. Love the idea for expanding the room! Think that'll be an amazing place to hang out with visitors, enjoying the sun. Thanks for sharing!
"We didn't want to jump on any trends." SUCH a smart way to approach renovation! Matt and Jesse clearly have great design instincts and the updates to their home is really beautiful. Well done!
LOVE these renovations! I'm obsessed with everything. I love how the older style pictures that most people would trash actually make it look even more modern. I would say no to the light though. It just seems to disturb the overall feel of that room!
Yes to the light. Just not too low! When you held the light up, it ‘anchored’ the room. It made it more intimate and kind of sexy, so to speak. Most people have a light /ceiling fan so I think the light brings more warmth to the room. I would suggest having the can lights, and the light above the coffee table if you go with it, on DIMMER switches. I have dimmers and it creates a mood for when you have guests over. I think you need a few really nice candles. They even make them with a crackling sound that sounds like wood burning in the fireplace. Speaking of sound, it would be worth the extra money to install some ‘surround sound speakers’ and pipe music into your TV room . You could install the hardware inside or hidden away in one of your kitchen cabinets. It makes a world of difference when watching movies, sports, or entertaining. You won’t regret the added costs! You both are really talented in interior design. Can’t wait for the rest!
For me, I really dislike bare ceilings. Love the light over the coffee table. I also love the different shades of white, no need for sunglasses! You've done a beautiful job guys!
MATT important tip for your upstairs laundry closet!!! You need to ensure that the floor is not carpet or wood, tile is best. And ensure you have a plumber install a drain in the floor! If you ever have a leak, you will want a drain. Otherwise water damage can happen very fast ♥️♥️ The dramatic wallpaper and wood panelling for the downstairs toilet sounds soooo lovely 😍 I say leave the light out of the space above the coffee table! I think it adds too much to the room. Can you install more of the similar lights that are already in the ceiling for more light? I LOVE the idea of extending the glass area for the dining table. And your inspiration for the stairs. All of your ideas for your home are so beautiful and timeless, they will never be out of style! You have an amazing eye for design. I am so impressed with your knowledge regarding your interior space. Great job Matt and Jesse! 🤗
The light is not quite right! I don't know what would be, but I don't think that one is it. I think something flush with the ceiling would be better. The hanging light makes the ceiling look lower, to me, and it's not a high ceiling to begin with. Absolutely beautiful home and renovations!
Just BEAUTIFUL....I thought in the moment, I would not use the light, but once you held it in place, I actually quite liked it. No matter your decision, your home is stunning!
It's a no on the light above the coffee table. The centerpiece of the entire home is the gorgeous fireplace and library! The light fixture invades the beautiful uninterrupted view of the complete installation. It makes the ceiling height feel lower and closes in what is a stunning, open, and welcoming space that you just want to snuggle into. The light fixture breaks that all up by taking the gorgeous, purposefully designed and artistically conceived vision and turning it into a generic, uninspired space that I'd probably say, "that's nice" upon seeing for the first time and then promptly forget about. I'd say the recessed lighting will provide good lighting to the perimeter. It looks like the bookcases are lit too, so that'll add some drama and ambient light to the room. For the center of the room, get a couple lamps. They'll add warm, inviting, romantic light to the space, while being low enough to not obstruct the view of the room. Lighting is like textures in interior design, variety is important. You don't want all the light on the space to be shining down from above. You want some of that (which can be unflattering at times), some ambient lighting such as the fireplace and library lighting, and then some mood lighting (lamps). That's all just my opinion though. It's your home and that means you get to do whatever you want! 😊😊 It's beautiful so far and I know it will continue to be so! Proud of you boys!
Beautiful home you have created ... I would almost call the style 'Masculine French Country Modern'. Loving the colours and am all for the fabulicious black TV room!!! It's a no to the light for me as it would take away from the majestic boldness of the fireplace and library. You have both done a wonderful job and can only imagine it is a joy to live in. Much love and congratulations from NZ x PS ... the pair of you are a hoot 🤪
I agree on the lamp. In my opinion it's beter to have what you have more in the style of lamps kitchen, and let it come back in the livingroom. But that's only my thoughts. But for the rest yes amazing
I like it without a light over the coffee table! But omg guys, y'all did SO GOOD with this remodel!! It is beautiful and so much brighter and more elegant and classy. I love it all, even the black room which I'm always skeptical about
Hate to tell you this but your renovations have turned you into full-fledged adults. The design is elegant and yet earthy. I’m actually stunned that the two of you youngsters were able to do this design. I think you succeeded in getting pieces that will stand the test of time.
I wouldn't hang the lamp up because then it would be very busy. the lamp is nice but then it becomes a bit too much.💋😅🥰 but your house is very beautiful i'm just jealous😩🤪💋
It’s their home and the lamp should be there because that’s where they want it! I mean this is not our own private homes they are decorating so no need to say where things should or shouldn’t go. Personally I find it wonderful to see how creative people are and to see what they have crrated for themselves :) This is lots of hard work in terms of planning but also getting the money to invest in the property and everything in the home. It ties in even more beautiful when you think about Matt sharing how he thought about wanting to fill his life with warmth and closeness and build something with someone and have more in life thsn work and flying around the world for work. He has what he wanted back then, a partner and a home and warmth in life☺️
Absolutely stunning, guys! A word of advice.. If you are going to place that beautiful table in a glass, sunlit room, make sure the glass is UV rated, otherwise your beautiful furniture will dry and fade. I learned that the hard way!
anyone else realize at around 9:48 there's a cutscene that cuts to someone buying dresses? lol.. love the house though thanks for sharing the progression
Well done!! Beautiful reno; love the flooring!! My vote is NO for hanging the light above the coffee table...it altered the spacious feeling of the room. (At least it looked that way on my phone)
Beautiful remodel! Sophisticated without being stuffy. Brilliant! (No on the light over the coffee table, the scale and shades cover doesn't work, and the room is perfect as. Don't "busy" it up).
You and Jesse have a lovely home. I agree that a television does not belong in the living room. I’ve always had a designated TV room when able. Of course, if you live in a smaller space, there may be no other option available other than the main living room. I don’t think the chandelier adds anything to the living area. If you feel you must add a ceiling fixture, choose something that is flush mounted to the ceiling. You have endless options. The hanging chandelier makes the space look a bit cluttered and you two don’t like clutter. I don’t think you’ll be happy in the long run. Of course, it’s your home. Do what pleases you, not some random subscriber. You have to live with it.
The light breaks up the vision of the lounge room, it actually shrinks the space, your eye doesn't get the clean lines of the library walls. It's not awful but it's an optical distraction.
It looks so so good I love how the colours compliment each other and matt im glad you have so much idee's with the house it looks really good and I hope it feels like a warming home mag god bless you guys for everything lying ahead🙌❤️🍾🥂
Absolutely stunning. I realize this video is from 2 years ago and you have sold the house and moved on, but it gives a hint of what we can expect in your new place. Excellent exquisite taste boys. Well done.
Stunning!! Classy!! I would say, for me, the center lighting doesn’t work. It is busy, and takes away from the gorgeous open aesthetics of that fabulous room!! ♥️
Laundry is downstairs because the washing machine water line can break, and flood the whole downstairs area. If it breaks upstairs, it will flood both floors. I’ve had this nightmare experience, and take it from me, a laundry chute is the best and less expensive way to go. Wishing you all the best always!
Your home is so pretty! You and Jesse did such a good job picking things out. I’m not the biggest fan of the light above the coffee table but I also don’t think it’ll look bad.
As a strong intervert. I absolutely love your light colors and darker colors; the balance is calming. I would not hang the hanging light. It would be too much I feel. Maybe save the light to hang over the dining table when you guys get the additional space completed. Just my opinion. Other than that, everything looks absolutely beautiful. Good job to all the people involved within this project. What a good team to give provide relaxation and comfort.
We have our machines upstairs, and we had one incident where the washer overflowed but the overflow pan which was placed underneath the machine kept the water from touching the floor and carpet. The technician who came out to repair the machine siphoned the water out of the pan, wiped it down, and everything was fine. Just make sure that they place the overflow pans under the machines before they leave your home initally. I didn't realize that they had forgotten to do that when they brought our machines and I had to call them to come back to put the overflow pans under the machines. So they had to physically lift the machines up to put the pans underneath. They tried to lift the machines up over into the pans, in doing so they cracked the edge of the overflow pan. Save yourself a headache double-check to see if the pans are in place before they leave.
Wow. Just...WOW! Wow wow wow. The library is breathtaking. (Also, love that the dogs are in front of the fireplace. Contentment.) As for the light over the coffee table--no! You've got those recessed lights and the table lamps that are lovely. No, no, no. It makes it look cluttered, in my opinion. It also take the eye away from that fabulous fireplace. If you need to put in a light, I think you should look for something like the lights in the kitchen over the table with a clear shade that won't create another shape/tone/color in the room.
I like it, the house has that country feel to it but in a modern clean way. I love the brass details around the house. What you both mentioned in the end about feeling grateful every day to live there, I think that is exactly the point when you're making a home that is for YOU. While the old interior was nice too, the new is yours and it makes you really feel connected and like a home.
Omg, it's beautiful . The light above the coffee table I think take a little focus away from the fireplace. I love it. You bought your house around the same time I bought mine. It's a work in progress. I need to finish the barn renovations first. Priorities 🐎🐐🐓 Your house has given me more inspiration . I hope you create many years of happy memories.
Your home is beautiful, really love the style you went for! Also I don’t think the light looks bad but I prefer it without. Keeps the space more open which I like.
You should never have to answer why you want to renovate. It's your home, you money and your time. I love it all. I also love the idea about the extension with the table there. It will be amazing. Not sure about the lights above the coffee table (since you asked) but if you like it, then put it up. I doubt I will ever be over for dinner lol. You two are great.
Stunning renovation! This is a home for a lifetime. You can add holiday homes over the years to come. Ixnay on the lamp over the coffee table. Or at least, not that lamp.
Just beautiful and I think the glass extension will really help the kitchen area. As far as the light goes, I would live with the remodel as is for awhile, then decide. I prefer the room without the light, but if after living with it for a time you find yourselves using the room and needing more light, then you can add it 😊
I was going to say the same about the light. Do everything else first. Then check the lighting in the living room as is and see if it is sufficient with existing lights, especially at night. If not, add the ceiling fixture. Also, if you do install it, put it on a dimmer switch so you can adjust the light level. I think the style is good. The nice thing about the blue pillows is they’re easy to change out if you get tired of the blue. That blue/green/gray paint will go with lots of other accent colors besides blue. It’s easy to work with. Such a beautiful home you are creating together.
Definitely yes for the light in your living room. The ceiling is rather large and empty and the lamp disperses that feeling of emptiness at the ceiling adding warmth and good balance
To answer the question about the lamp over the coffee table, I say it looks better without. Much cleaner and much less distracting from the gorgeous fireplace.
wow that kitchen table is immaculate! such a great pic. and the kitchen really benefited from removing the pilars and upgrading the sink and cabinetry. the island will surely be nothing short of the chef's kiss of completion As for the light in the livingroom, i am all for it personally...BUT .... not that particular light fixture. it was really kind of bleh to me. i think something maybe wide single 3/4 dome in brass maybe? i dunno if im describing it correctly. about the size of a basketball if you removed 1/4 of a rounded side? that was the first picture that came to mind personally. One other thing i feel like the aesthetic is sorely missing (maybe just on the back burner until everything is finished?) are some really gorgeous PLANTS! the colors you have chosen are beautiful , but i feel its missing a few pops of color to really set it off. ♥
Oh my gosh 🤩 Everything looks so nice, but your formal living room is to die for! You should be ready proud of yourself and you both definitely deserve to achieve this from all the hard work you do.
Looks beautiful, and clean but cozy. Wouldn't place the light in the living room it doesn't fit your scheme. As a gentle reminder, placing furniture, paintings etcetra in natural sunlight will damage these pieces in a very short period of time, even just a few hours a day, so a humble heads up. Matt and Jesse, what a lovely home, really happy for you. Thank you for the tour, can't wait to see what's next.
Definitely love the light over the coffee table!!I It will add a touch of old world elegance. Absolutely love the changes!! Kudos for the guts to go black in the movie room, right next to the living area! You definitely possess boldness and balance which is quite unusual for someone so young. Congratulations and looking forward to the next phase. 💕
Laundries were put downstairs and near the back door because we didn’t always have driers. Clothes were taken outside and dried on clotheslines. Many people still do this crazy thing. Cheers
Imho...No, to the light in the Family room! You have lamps in there and too much lighting could ruin the coziness and nuance of the room. Everything is absolutely beautiful guys. Great job! 🤗
You have a beautiful home. Love the flooring. The lounge looks better without the centre light. Maybe get some more table lamps, a much more cosy look.
Don’t like that light over the coffee table BUT you need some sort of light just for functionality. You have done an amazingly beautiful job on the house. Beautiful taste and a very great description!
Lighting in living room will interrupt where your eye goes…eye won’t go directly to fireplace and will be in front of the picture above mantle…BUT…it does tie into the room well. Makes the area more ‘cozy’. Love the reno. Well done to the both of you. ❤️🇦🇺👍🏻
I must say it became a really nice home, which fits you perfectly. I would say it´s a no to the light, it interrupts the airy space in the living room, but overall well done.
It’s beautiful! I have a small home that is very well decorated and I get the “omg, I can’t believe I get to live here!” feelings when I walk into the living room and it is amazing. I still need to update the kitchen and create a study for myself, but it is coming along. I love seeing other homes for inspiration. I especially love the grey bookshelves and leather ottoman.
Wonderful job guys! As far as the light, I feel like it distracts from the fire place and the flow of the lines (just this artists opinion). I'm so glad you both are so happy with your space, as one of your older viewers, I've done remodels and I totally understand the feeling
I really love all of your upgrades, I love the addition of that fireplace and balance of the light fixture you want to add, that's a yes for me!!! Gorgeous Gents!
Beautiful reno- congrats. I wouldn't add the lamp fixture above the coffee table. However, it's a personal choice and if you need the extra light then choose what suits you.
Love your renovations, all the room are stunning. Great feeling seeing the rooms first, then going back & see what makes it so special. Should be in a magazine! Love the floors. Maybe a different light over the coffee tables. Overhead light there will not let you rearrange the furniture. A classic room never goes out of style. Great eye for decorating. As long as you love it, that is what counts!
Wow what a fantastic home you live in doing a great job cant wait to see it all done and the light would look great the fireplace is beautiful it all looks so light and makes every room look bigger both of you keep the videos coming. All the way to England 🇬🇧
At first I thought, "Why put that light fixture in the middle of the room?" Then, you said, "It's dark here!" With that being said, "I agree with you to have that light fixture there!" So, this room looks great with and without this light fixture. The point is ... you need light there! This looks great! It looks like both of your tastes! Good job! You home looks warm and comfortable!
Love it all, especially the design you created behind the stove! It all flows beautifully. Many people don't like the light in the living room but I think it depends on how open you want it vs adding a bit of cozy- in space and evening light. I do not believe anything could take away from the fireplace hearth but maybe the light would actually invite you to come closer and relax. Either way, very stunning!
Beautiful remodel, don't put the light over the coffee table it is distracting from the fireplace.
Exactly what I was going to say! The fireplace is so beautiful.
I would say no too to the light, beautiful home well done.
Definitely for me,,,,, uhm.. the fireplace is never gonna be un distracting. The first thing everyone notices
No it does not work bc it cuts the vib from the magnificent hearth & makes the room busy & appearing smaller don't do it!

What are the paint colors? I am having trouble understanding him.
@Kelly Quinn It is Farrow & Ball's brand, "Down Pipe"
@@karenmahan6979 Thank you so much!
I agree, the light over the coffee table cuts off the visual ‘flow’ of the room. It is perfect as is.

two dudes, with brilliant minds & great taste. 🎉
Most important thing for Jesse ...the dogs love it.
I know haha! I love how down to earth and grateful he is for the things he has yet they are definitely not the most important to him. I wish he made more videos.

there are ways to create a tub-type floor with a drain to reduce the danger of flooding with a second floor laundry.
It's most likely concrete, so it would have to really be soaked for a long time before it damages the ceiling, or the structural integrity of the floor

Watching from Australia 🐨🦘🐨 your fireplace is absolutely beautiful ❤️
kitchen and dining before renovation looked more homy and cozy. But getting the kitchen island would make it more homy.
We need an update when the whole house is finished 👏🏼👏🏼 looks beautiful
"We didn't want to jump on any trends." SUCH a smart way to approach renovation! Matt and Jesse clearly have great design instincts and the updates to their home is really beautiful. Well done!

Lovely home. Exactly my style. Indeed difficult to find and very very expensive
Your house is beautiful!!!!! Can't wait to see phase two. No light in living room.
Personally I find it wonderful to see how creative people are and to see what they have crrated for themselves :)
This is lots of hard work in terms of planning but also getting the money to invest in the property and everything in the home. It ties in even more beautiful when you think about Matt sharing how he thought about wanting to fill his life with warmth and closeness and build something with someone and have more in life thsn work and flying around the world for work. He has what he wanted back then, a partner and a home and warmth in life☺️
No lights over the coffee table for me. I love everything, beautiful house.
Absolutely stunning, guys! A word of advice.. If you are going to place that beautiful table in a glass, sunlit room, make sure the glass is UV rated, otherwise your beautiful furniture will dry and fade. I learned that the hard way!
The light do work there very well, what I was not expecting first
I give it a ten out of ten!! Wouldn’t change a thing. May you have many happy years there with all your fur babies! Y’all deserve only the best🥰
anyone else realize at around 9:48 there's a cutscene that cuts to someone buying dresses? lol.. love the house though thanks for sharing the progression
Well done!! Beautiful reno; love the flooring!! My vote is NO for hanging the light above the coffee table...it altered the spacious feeling of the room. (At least it looked that way on my phone)
Dream home! Dream Team! Dream Tour! Dream Lifestyle! *Jesse* I’m really really grateful! *well put Jesse*
You are doing a stunning job! I didn't think the light was necessary until you held it up, and it really finished the area perfectly!
What a change! The addition of the fireplace and the library walls = 10/10
One of the BEST home tours. So thought out, well designed and considered!
The light breaks up the vision of the lounge room, it actually shrinks the space, your eye doesn't get the clean lines of the library walls. It's not awful but it's an optical distraction.
Love it all, don’t prefer the ceiling lamp, would just use side lamps for mood lighting.
Overhead lights give an unflattering light ❤
Ditto what Victoria said about all of it....I feel like the light above the coffee table could distract from the fireplace.
The house looks so light and airy. Nice job. I feel the light is too obtrusive and would hang too low. But loving what you guys are achieving xx
I think it looks better without the light x
Omg, it's beautiful .
The light above the coffee table I think take a little focus away from the fireplace.
I love it. You bought your house around the same time I bought mine.
It's a work in progress.
I need to finish the barn renovations first. Priorities 🐎🐐🐓
Your house has given me more inspiration .
I hope you create many years of happy memories.
Why are those two like the cutest couple I've ever seen 😍😂
Your home is beautiful, really love the style you went for! Also I don’t think the light looks bad but I prefer it without. Keeps the space more open which I like.
You should never have to answer why you want to renovate. It's your home, you money and your time. I love it all. I also love the idea about the extension with the table there. It will be amazing. Not sure about the lights above the coffee table (since you asked) but if you like it, then put it up. I doubt I will ever be over for dinner lol. You two are great.
Place looks fab, well done both! I would not put the light in the living room, looks so open at the moment and light will lower the ceiling
No to the light over coffee table. Color in kitchen area is light and airy, Nice work. Lucky fellas, and puppy dogs💕🦴🦴
House looks awesome!!! And i def like the dogs chillin by the fireplace :)
wow that kitchen table is immaculate! such a great pic. and the kitchen really benefited from removing the pilars and upgrading the sink and cabinetry. the island will surely be nothing short of the chef's kiss of completion
As for the light in the livingroom, i am all for it personally...BUT .... not that particular light fixture. it was really kind of bleh to me. i think something maybe wide single 3/4 dome in brass maybe? i dunno if im describing it correctly. about the size of a basketball if you removed 1/4 of a rounded side? that was the first picture that came to mind personally.
I LOVE it all too! I just felt like he took most of the credit.
You two are adorable AND hilarious! Don't ever change! Can't wait to see the rest of this video!
A definite no to the light fitting in the beautiful living room. A stunning home!
Love what you have done, it’s beautiful, I personally don’t think you need the light above the coffee table as you have the lamps
No light over the coffee table. The renovations look fabulous! No worry about the money, y’all work hard for it so spend it the way you want!
Definitely love the light over the coffee table!!I
It will add a touch of old world elegance.
Cheers
Thank you so much for doing this!!! And YES YES YES for the light in the living room. I think it adds balance and will look very nice.
Yes it gives the finishing touch and joins the room up.
Yes . Agreed.
Soo beautiful, but I would not add the light as it makes it look too old. Lots of love to you sweet guys♥️♥️
I love you both!❤️🙌🏻❤️ It’s been years, Matt I think it’s time to put the ring on it, or vise verse Jesse❤️❤️🙌🏻🙌🏻🥰👀👀
The extension with the glass giving you an whole kitchen island etc etc iS YES YES YES !!!
Wonderful job guys! As far as the light, I feel like it distracts from the fire place and the flow of the lines (just this artists opinion). I'm so glad you both are so happy with your space, as one of your older viewers, I've done remodels and I totally understand the feeling
Put the light over the coffee table… it warms up the space and adds visual interest ❤
I really love all of your upgrades, I love the addition of that fireplace and balance of the light fixture you want to add, that's a yes for me!!! Gorgeous Gents!
The light would look amazing over that coffee table it warms the room
Beautiful reno- congrats. I wouldn't add the lamp fixture above the coffee table. However, it's a personal choice and if you need the extra light then choose what suits you.
I wish the house tour went upstairs. I love to see bedrooms: bed size and type, bedcoverings, window treatments, carpets, etc.
Rustic elegance. French country, for sure. Love it! The sitting room is perfectly balanced. I think the chandelier light interferes with that balance.
When you put light in changes focus to look up. Without lamp focus goes to fireplace which is BEAUTIFUL!!!
