If possible it'd be cool if you could do a vid explaining how Entangling Scars to Variations work, it's probably the most commonly asked question when it comes to character creation.
I really appreciate the concise overview of each game, CofD has such an interesting setting, with a great variety of storybuilding tools. I really like how Deviants feel stronger than hunters, but weaker than other supernaturals unless they go nuclear, and they always need to balance paying attention to their emotional anchors. Building the power set is great, but I think one of the best new systems is how the Web of Pain escalates the power and stats of the Conspiracies as the Deviants become more powerful, which can be adapted to other game lines.
If I ever get to do a Deviant Chronicle my character will have the Exomorph Origin, and be of the Invasive Clade basically my character is a guy or girl who was kidnapped and turned into essentially a Guyver unit aka he/she was fused with a techno-organic viral parasite and turned into a techno-organic cyborg against his/her will.
Now I had an iea of running a vampire chronicle where the prince is actually a reanimated corpse deviant and not exactly a vampire trying to maintain himself in power while using vampires as a shield.
@@AwkwardGMCorbin Good thing they need to be in their pretty little havens during the day or else they'll be making a human torch cosplay pretty soon. Note to self: only leave your home after 1pm.
We played this the other day and storyteller had us roll for our starting origins and from there we decided powers and things. It went better than expected, my best friend got psychic type so went with this like Dr. Strangelove cripple guy and storyteller was like "so proffessor Xavier but the villain" and he was like "did you see the meme where he made Magneto relive the Holocaust? On purpose lol" Me and my wife got the same origin, one got terrain dependency and the other got phobia, I decided we should be like these weird twins/lovers/trauma victims who one is physically the other emotionally dependent on the other to survive. We rolled powers too for ideas and got shrinking/growing and it just works. It's like physically representing coping with either larger than life fronts or trying to be avoidant, and I called us Children of The Korn so a combination of the movie but also the song by Korn/Ice-Cube lol
If I ever get to play this game, I'm going to run that the renegads are genetically-engineered super soldiers abundant in the decaying ruins of world with civilians who fear and hate them and a corrupt and totalitarian government that ignores them, unless they for that Pegasus Here's some other things I would also recommend for devian is great inspiration Doom patrol X man Teenage Ninja turtles Cybersix Underground rpg No Guns Life
I wouldn't say it's that original of idea, how's lunch inspired by underground, how about I found it a little bit extreme for my liking. Also here some other ideas I have for campaigns the game. I believe that lore by night did one. That was also another idea for companion, and that is the characters are magical girls/boys who discovered that the school that was meant to teach them on how to use their abilities. Is actually an evil coat that is behind much of the crime and signature events that played the city. The real purpose of the school was to test that loyalty and brainwash them.
Depends on what sort of origin you want to do for Swamp thing. Are they an entirely new being created from someone's corpse or are they a mortal who was changed in a freak accident? That decision is in your hands. CofD allows for a lot of flexibility for instance Gangrel are kind of like Vampire Werewolves and Darklings/Leechfingers are like Changeling Vampires.
I don't want to come as an asshole but I think this is actualy the worse product out of the CoD line, the setting is definitely interesting but the system is, quite simply, too much, I tried to run this and it died before we even started because the players couldn't manage to make a character due to the ridiculously complicated system and frankly, I can't even blame them. I later learned that the guy behind this is the same that wrote mage which sadly explains quite a lot.
I can definitely see wheee you are coming from. Best I can say is try to start at a Magnitude 1 characters and try to get the hang of the system from a less complex space. That’s just a suggestion mind you. I haven’t really gotten the hang of it myself either.
@@AwkwardGMCorbin Magnitude 1 would make it easier that's for sure but it would also significantly amper the fun, players want to play deviant to make their own xman with cool superpowers which will turn character creation into a nightmare really quickly. There is also the fact that the game is a veritable bookkeeping nightmare for the GM, you have to keep an eye out on all the scars and their triggers, the instability levels and the touchstones, makes you wonder if they actually play tested this before releasing it.

Good idea. No one would suspect him! Unless he went out in day light.

Just have Hunter the Vigil left. Which may be a while.
I got this game I backed on Kickstarter so thanks for doing a video on this it has been hard to find any information about the game
It’s definitely been an interesting read. I think it’s safe to say it’s the most customizable.
Kamen the Ridering/ Gyver the Berserking
I'm playing as Guyver-style Deviant in a chronicle.
So basically this can range from a horror like Frankenstein’s monster to something like The boys?
@@abyssbun444 Orphan Black, The Boyz, Pretender, etc…
The system is very customizable.
