Sounds like a lot of people are going with 6mm for Team Yankee. I have 15mm because I'm a Battlefront fanboy (though a lot of their recent decisions have been disappointing), but 6mm moderns were among my first purchases as a gamer.
My experience with the Bunker Boxes is that they are VERY fragile. They're fairly cheap plastic and I have had four of six break at the clasp and hinges. Find a different container for your models. I have mine in the Snapware stackable containers.
I have found that the big gripe about "not enough detail" really boils down to "my eyes aren't good enough to paint something that small". The beauty of micro armor gaming is that it takes less effort than 15mm or 28mm precisely because it is less detailed. A basecoat, a wash, and a drybrush (mind the gun barrels) and you're good to go.

Battlefront's models are very pretty. My problem with Team Yankee at 15mm is just the scale of the game. Ranges seem very short and some armies really crowd the table with their vehicles.
I'm not using the storage box as I use metal bases on all my models and then put them in pizza boxes with magnetic sheet stuck inside.
I'm happy with the detail of almost all the 6mm models I've acquired. I don't paint it all, and am happy with a simple (but effective) paint job on my forces.
      Thanks for sharing your comments.

I'm right there with you on the scale vs. table size. My club either uses two tables or drops to a lower point total. That, along with the command distances and morale rules have been my great disappointments. All of that has got me looking at other systems and scales. Gotta wonder about a company that makes the fanboys consider other options!

I've been playing Cold War Commander and have purchased Fistful of Tows 3 and hope to try that one at some point.
The good thing is there are lots of different options available.

This combat command is outstanding. GHQ knocked it out of the park on this set.

They are nicely detailed models and look great painted up.

Hummv's were deployed in the mid 80s side by side with the m151

Good to know. So I can put them on the command bases. Thanks.

Yep. 1987--I rode in *the last, actual U.S. Army jeep in Germany* (my buddy was the Company Commander's driver), as they were being phased out for Humvees!

I do like the GHQ models, but I'm not sure they will be my go too models. I think I'll be using CinC mostly as I think they are a nice balance between cost and appearance.

Fist full of T.O.Ws is pretty good for 1/285

I have a Fistful of TOWs 3 game planned at a convention in a couple weeks. I will be using 1/285 models for the game. I think 1/285 is a great scale for many games.

Very nice little models, and they got lots of detail imo.

Really enjoy all your PFC/GHQ unboxings. When are you going to do some more?

Thanks. Honestly, I'm not sure when I will be doing my next unboxing from either of these companies. I've got a lot of Cold War models that I need to get painted before I get any new ones. I am planning to run a Cold War Gone Hot game at a local con in December, so that should spur me on to get some of these models painted.

Where did you get your bases from?

    • @HerooftheTable
      @HerooftheTable  5 років тому +1

I get the metal bases from www.wargameaccessories.com. They make storage easy as I use magnetic sheets in boxes to keep them in place. I use them for pretty much all my 6mm stuff and some of my 15mm stuff. They have a variety of sizes depending on what you are using them for.

We used command decision for ww2 and I imagine they have the same for ww 3

I've never played Command Decision. I'll look those rules up. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sean Gewecke maybe more unboxings, this is the only video in UA-cam about the ghq combat command sets and has urged me to get one my self.

I will see what I can do. I'm not sure I will be buying many more Combat Command Boxes, but I do have some CinC and Heroics and Ros models waiting for their turn on my paint table.
