Hey guys. Glad you enjoyed the movie. It's one of the best Tamil action movie recently. But when I saw your RRR review and realised how much you enjoyed, i thought you gave all logic a miss and just enjoyed the movie. There both the hero's had unbelievable superheros strength and that's perfectly fine for you.. So with that parameter, if karthi in kaithi has a great brutal strength to weild that gattling gun, why isn't that believable. That was really nitpicking guys. And we always assume Indian hero's are superheros before entering the theater. 😂😂😂😂. So please come into that zone before entering theater. Otherwise you will say vikram SUCKS 😂😂
The difference between RRR and Kaithi in this sense was RRR established right from the start that the protagonists are larger than life. While Kaithi had over the top action, the action was still teetering on the edge of human capabilities, but then some scenes just take you out of the movie when such impossibilities aren't established before the scene.

The fight scenes in South movies tend to turn the madness to 120%. The way I see it is the over the top fight gives the audience the better satisfaction and pressure release compared to a regular grounded fight. You can compare it to anime, or games like street fighter and mortal combat. Just like indian movies break into a song in middle of everyday life( which doesn't happen in real life) but adds emotional context to the movie. The over the top fight scenes allows the audience to vent out the pressure that has been building throughout the movie.
@@moodkyahai937 the only difference is what he said was true while religious people do what religious often do. In a packed theatre, once the movie succeeds in building a tension filled narrative and when it meets a certain saturation point, where tension and frustration peaks, the movie automatically gets the freedom to explode in however way it wants. At least that's what I believe. I still remember the roar of the audience (in Kaithi), when the hero finally smashes the loathed bad guys in the most over the top way possible. It worked because the audience had enough of the tension and developed reasonable hate towards the villains. They are ready to experience some madness and also that's what they exactly wanted. Thats the beauty of cinema, works in various ways for various people.
@@1am22 I think what Rick hasn't figured out yet (and maybe never will because he uses a different lens to view the movies) is he is still stuck in the MCU idea of what a superhero is and not what an Indian Super Human Hero is as I posted above. (Korbin is almost there I think) For me as an American it wasn't until I realized it was more like the greek hero Hercules than Superman and then even further I understood it as almost like a cartoon. Think Wile E Coyote or Daffy Duck. Just epic over the top violence that they always survive. And the more I saw the Audience reaction from FDFS's I understood that the audience was totally bought in on it. The cheers and laughter make that clear. I used to hate what I thought of as violent action films. But now I get disappointed when there is not a white Sumo full of machete wielding rowdies gunning for the Hero. .. lighting specially at night -- dudes the whole movie happens in the night Super heros dont always have to wear their briefs over their leggins---- they come wearing lungi too
Rick, So one thing about Telugu films and these kind of Tamil films is that the Heros (they don't call them stars or actors, they are literally referred to as Heros) is that they are Super Humans. Not Super Heros in the Marvel sense but Super Heros in the Indian sense. I don't fully understand it but I think (and I am sure I will be corrected) it has to do with a tradition of believing that gods reincarnated and had Avatars on earth. So to have people that are HEROS able to do and survive in godlike ways is- easier to accept. It is HERO like behavior and is not ridiculous. I think Indian audiences are changing their expectations about this. I remember the first time I showed a friend a Telugu Mass film and she thought the Hero turned into a zombie because "how did they survive all that and then get up and keep fighting" I watch these films like I ride a roller coaster. Hands in the air without trying to control the turns. They are a wild ride! Again its ok that its not your cup of tea. Makes me sad because there are some fun as hell movies you will likely miss or be disappointed in. I think Korbin gets it or is able to let go of ideas about when the coaster should go up or down or turn left or right. I encouraage you both to keep trying though. You have come a long way.
The core of majority Tamil commercial/action movies lies in treating their protagonists as superheroic/meta humans kind, the audience are also programmed to enjoy the rise of their favorite stars [no matter how many times they fall], the emotional highs gives us more satisfaction than the logical aspect of it and that is what attracts many people to the theatres. So its understandable if it does not work for many, but thats the rationale behind constructing scenes like that. they are targetted for a set of audience.
you are absolutely right, I felt the same thing no human can survive from that much of Stabbings and slashing, let alone fierce fighting after that, Good director like Lokesh should come up with new ideas rather old cliche styles

11:34 i have to agree with you Rick. You cannot replicate how you did things in the sets. Dubbing becomes a lot of mimicing when you try to sync your dialogues with the actual performance, your ultimate purpose&attention is on syncing with the lip movement, which diverts you from the emotion of the character.
The director Lokesh Kanagaraj is a big fan of Rambo: First blood, Die-hard & Commando. He mentioned this in a recent interview.
Things to note down from Kaithi for Vikram is
1. Drugs with Scorpion symbol and the Gang
2. Good and Bad Police
If I tell more it will be a spoiler.
Enjoy the Vikram movie.

This film is probably the best Indian action film I've seen in the last 15 years or even 20 years. Very genre specific film with no unnecessary romantic angle or songs.

Rick today i had same discussion with my colleagues that when they go movie they want to watch everything near to reality 🙄. But when i go for a movie i know what kind of this movie and i keep my expectations to low level so that i get entertained. These action movies are for entertainment purpose and u should not expect 100% real life reality in it.
If u want to watch anything close to reality than watch documentary or autobiography or moviea related to educational purpose. We are living in a stressful world and my entertainment is to watch movies which can entertainment ignoring any form of reality is fine for me.
Its my view of watching movie and i agree all have different view which i accept.
Really looking forward to your guys’ review on Vikram🙏 Hoping you guys can also check out Lokesh’s project prior to Vikram, “Master”. Would love to hear your guys’ opinion on that as well🙏🔥
@@vinodkumar19 many people dont have the understanding of what u told.thats the problem.thats why foreigners loving RRR more than us.
@@vinodkumar19 Well, let's say that indan movies are evolving and we will find a middle path which originally Indian and more acceptable to most people.
@@vinodkumar19 Actually Lokesh wanted to explain about that scene in vikram 2.

Loved that shot which Rick mentioned a lot about the 3 cars, really good... I don't really observe the camerawork but here this was beautiful
You sound like a religious person defending his religion with help of science.
Give me Simhadri's ax anyday! LMAO
@@moodkyahai937 I am an atheist.....but I understand what you are saying.
You can show the same type of suspension of disbelief when you watch break into a unrealistic fight as you would watch a anime fight. Or when you belive them break into a song in the middle of the movie.
You do not need to join my experience.....but I find it hypothetical when you can handle them breaking into a dance number but cannot accept them doing gravity defying fights.
PS: I am not defending when they do this but it gives me a better movie watching experience without taking me out of what's happening on screen.

Guys , the director's first ever movie - Managaram literally had nothing for a budget and it is still was a multi starter and a fab movie. Do watch it!! Also do look out for interviews of the director lokesh kanagaraj with Bharadwaj Rangan. He discusses about all his movies and they always speak sense and discuss more about the process involved behind each movie.
The below video has the director talking about kaithi and his other movies. @6.47 they discuss about the single shot of three vehicles.

This movie is dubbed and currently running in Russia
The core of majority Tamil commercial/action movies lies in treating their protagonists as superheroic/meta humans kind, the audience are also programmed to enjoy the rise of their favorite stars [no matter how many times they fall], the emotional highs gives us more satisfaction than the logical aspect of it and that is what attracts many people to the theatres. So its understandable if it does not work for many, but thats the rationale behind constructing scenes like that. they are targetted for a set of audience.
Watch saani kaayidam guys , that's pure violence and you will love it
you are absolutely right, I felt the same thing no human can survive from that much of Stabbings and slashing, let alone fierce fighting after that, Good director like Lokesh should come up with new ideas rather old cliche styles
Anyone who has watched Kaidhi would have said the same, to forget that scene where he comes from dead! Any human being would have been dead 🤣. It's just one forgivable "could skip" kind of item! Still still still doesn't take anything from the movie 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Kaithi had great visuals and action, plus the introduction of the man with the deep voice Arjun Das. In batman universe Arjun Das would be perfect as Scarecrow. One notable thing in Loki's cinematic universe is regular looking people can suddenly become heroic under pressured circumstances.
