I am a Marine and when i was in i had the pleasure of watching our silent drill team in D.C. Such an extraordinary experience.

That was *amazing*. Never seen it before, glad you chose it. I'll bet that was one of the quietest crowds Times Square has ever had! Thanks to Naveed and Mansoor recognizing the skill and dedication it takes to reach that level.

My older brother was a Marine, he participated in these types of performances. He was just 19 at the time and loved doing the silent demonstrations.

Imagine, someone had to choreograph that routine, & then teach it to how many fellas? I wonder how long it took to learn the routine!---I loved watching the changing expressions on our two observers' faces!

That was an incredible performance of rifle spinning, throwing and catching - and with fixed bayonets!

Those M-14 Rifles weigh 12.12 lbs. They get very heavy after an hour of drill.

In the Navy boot camp I was in the silent division. We did a march where we break apart and go around another division. They got mad at our RDC saying we intimidated the newer recruits.

I was stationed at Marine Barracks Washington DC in 1970-71. Not in the silent drill team though.
I know that they drill for many hours a day to get as good as they are. They lift weights to be strong enough to throw their rifles and catch them accurately and safely.
They are all combat veterans and are chosen because they’re vetted from the entire Marine Corps. As a drill team they test among one another to be chosen as the spotlight Marines. Semper Fi Brothers

The Marines that are on that team train several hours a day with the M-1 rifles, with bayonets they weigh 11.8 pounds, they do not use M-14's, a later rifle. There are several routines that they use, each for a different sized area.

Each branch of the American Military has one of these silent drill teams. And they all do routines that are way better than what this one did on that day.
I am Army and I have to admit that the best drill team I have ever seen was the Navy Silent Drill Team.

Another good video is the Ohio State Marching Band Michael Jackson tribute from 2013. There show with the Top Gun music was terrific too. What these Marines are doing, is not easy.

I love the ongoing 'battle' between the us navy drill team and the norwgian kings' guard. You have to be a 20-year veteran to join the drill team, the kings' guard do this as their mandatory duty at 19 yet they regularly beat the marines in competitions
