The coolest division by zero usage I’ve seen was by my flatmate, who was doing his PHD in mathematics at the time. I gave him a math problem, he did some calculations and after some work he got a contradiction, he then said, I must have divided by 0, found the only possible division by 0 in his calculation, and proceeded to solve the problem with the knowledge that this variable was 0.
This is just a backwards way of doing things. If you do your check and it pops out as the 2 = 1 you have to put the line through the equal signs. It shows that the proof you want doesn't work. It shows you did something wrong. This is a backwards way of showing and teaching kids that they need to add more qualifiers or constraints. In other words, taking common sense out of it and making someone say, you didn't add that or this so what I did is true. No, you are just trying to fast talk what is previous unwritten rules (or written so long ago that they are just known).

currently sitting gcses ( basically the first year of highschool for you americans its a final test to go to uk college/sixform) and this completely got me baffled on how he pulled those terms out of no where. I am acc finished on A level maths.

For example: 10 divide by 0 means how many times 0 we need to add to get 10, but 0 is nothing, nothing plus nothing is still nothing, infinity times nothing add together is still nothing and can't be a number other than 0 so "anything divide by 0 is infinity" is wrong, that's why we can't devide by 0.

@@ChillysChaos let me tell you something weirder, I literally just got notification that someone like my reply, so I open my reply section and it showing that the comment had 1.1 k likes, then I close my UA-cam and eventually after 5 minutes I open up my UA-cam again, and casually open my reply notification again (due to my boredom), and it's show it had 1.2 k like, I like "WTH 100 in like 5 minutes that's crazy", Idk it seems look weird but quarantine had brought us more here y know, so maybe it have a point
