    You're awesome🤣
Thanks for the info. I enjoyed the sarcasm and humor def needed that because this 💩 is stressful.
I got my spark plugs, my wires with booties and a coil pack from auto zone recently 🥴 I mildly attempted to replace them myself...however F that! Not for the faint of heart especially in the bitter cold of winter, so...
Today I will be taking my 02 Ford explorer sport with it's blinking check engine light (by tow truck) to the shop and politely asking the mechanic to please tune her up. She is very angry and scaring me. I will NOT be driving her. She throwing me misfiring codes for cylinder 3 & 5. 😁
I'm hoping with the info u provided me the mechanic won't be attempting to get over on a woman by assuming I don't know what's up. Because I CONFIDENTLY DO (now) thanks to you 😁
Before watching I was 80% sure this was the problem but the massive attitude displayed from Big Red (my explorer) it seemed like it would be more complex to fix. Well🤞🏻this is all I need.
    Thanks again!
    P. s. Cute dog 🐕

Thank you. New mechanic at the shop we used for decades sold me a "good well maintained" 05 Jeep renegade, i took it home, and found out hes a damn liar. Seems it sat for years untouched until he tweeked it to sell it. I washed the vehicle to find rusted passenger doors bondo & painted over, junkyard backend still has blue paint on it (visible after carwash) Hoses dryrot. Etc. I get new codes just days after every repair. Replaced power steering pump & hoses after it broke & leaked on highway at 70mph. radiator & coolant hoses exploded in a snowstorm, Just spent a couple grand to rebuild the transmission last week, now o2 sensor p0152 & p0300 w flashing engine light. I wish i was DONE but i Put so much money in to this piece of crap, i cant afford another car 😭 thanks for the educational video. U definitely earned a follow!

Awesome! Please go on all the other UA-cam channels that try and explain this but don't really know and to the comments that try to correct it when they don't know either and praise the one or ones that actually know what there talking about and tried to explain it only to be told we don't know what we're talking about. So I had came across two 4.2 Chevy's with cracked egr valves that coded 0300 no egr code. Was unnoticeable until cleaned and gasket surface buffed when it showed and they were rather large going nearly around the valve. One 5.7 with similar but different situation where the metal tubing running from the front to back on driver side head off egr had split about an inch long on inside wall. Also 0300 no egr. Just throwing it out there in case.

Amazing. I've listened n tried so many other people's thoughts. Now. U alone have given the most knowledge that is perfectly explained. I salute u...now enough w blowing smoke up your a#&....I have two 2000 jeep 4.7. One 4wd. N one is two wheel. My wife's two wheel has issue still n trans not wanting to shift until high revs n hard n sometimes slips. Just spent 1800 on the trans n installation. But this is what's happening. N gear shift off. Over drive is neutral. I'm doing the advice u gave on throttle body. N brand new coil packs. X 8. N plugs x 8. Ran perfect. For 100 miles at 110 mph. Let off gas. Just little. N started missing bad. But just at times. So there's my story n I'm working on it at 4 n am. Butter cold. On the street. ..4wd. I rebuilt the engine total top n bottom. Cuz. The notorious knocking at purchase. It wasn't lifter or rocker but after replacing all those I rebuilt it. Laying on ground. N street. N front my house. ....it runs perfectly lots lower. But hard start n stalls after few mins. Ether6stRts it. After I blue. Cover across street n two fires later. ...any suggestions

@@retiredsnowbunnyhunterx5106 I replaces all of them. The OEM injectors where i live (Cancun) are pretty affordable for all 4 of them. I think I paid about $120 USD for all four injectors. I also noticed that the fuel rail was very dirty inside when I removed it. NOTE: I also replaced the PCV valve that was a bit suspect. The car has been running great. Good luck.

I got the blinking CEL while I was doing 120 km/hr and noticed absolutely no difference in power nor heard a difference in RPM. Got another blinking p0300 code today while doing 65 km/hr, again noticed absolutely nothing wrong with the engine whatsoever. After doing some research and watching your videoI'm going to attribute this to the fact I'm running a straight pipe exhaust with no catalytic converters or o2 sensors. She idles like a trooper and purrs like a kitten when you feed it some of the good stuff.

Great video, well done! Informative, precise, and to the point. I'm not a big wrench on cars guy, but helping my daughter out whose 2013 Outlander threw that code. Wasn't starting at all. Plugs were pretty fouled. Cleaned them, still wouldn't start. Getting fuel, plugs were wet. Cleaned them again the next day, it started. Replaced them, now time will tell if that's all that it was or not. The code reader showed P0300 P. Does that trailing "P" mean anything? I am a little concerned that there's more issues than just the plugs. It seems to be throwing some smoke out the exhaust. I'm not sure what's normal for that car (she's not a big help telling me either!) Thanks again for the great information.

    • @WrenchSense
      @WrenchSense  Рік тому +1

Glad you liked the video and thanks for the comment. It helps my channel more than people realize. I am not familiar with a "trailing P" It could just be a trait of whatever scanner you are using. I have never seen it on any of the Snap-on scanners. In general the P before the code indicates a powertrain issue. For example, there are B codes which indicate a body issue. Is the smoke from the exhaust only occurring at start up or is it there after driving? In general smoke at start-up that goes away after warm is a valve seal issue that allows oil to enter the combustion chamber while it sits. Smoke after warm indicates bad piston rings which would show up as low compression on one or more cylinders. Could also be caused by a faulty PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system.

1999 tahoe, codes were p300 p301. Check 1 cylinder plug, swapped out no change. Reading plug (all new platinum 2 summers ago) and it looked like rich mixture. Tested PCV valve good. Then looked at fuel pressure regulator, it was missing completely out of the box. Went to 3 different auto stores, ordered one napa. Got it, put it in no change. Tested fuel pressure rail, it was at 50, book says should be 55 to 62. So tomorrow I am going to replace fuel filter (also only couple years old).

Dodge ram people make sure you disconnect your negative side of your battery. When you change your spark plugs or coils, it will cause your crank sensor to go out on you. That’s what happened to me. I change my spark plugs, and the thing started misfiring. I thought it was the coils so I put a new coil pack on there same thing P300 it ended up being the crank sensor because I didn’t disconnect the battery.

If I end up with a missfire and it's got a skip my first step is start pulling each wire one buy one . If it runs route, move on till you pull one that has no change. Then try an figure if it's the wire bad or plug or coil. You can spray the wire with water or left the hood at night for any sparking usually youl feel it anywhere hahaha then check for spark Frome coil buy stuffing a screwdriver in the end of plug wire trying to cross it over something meatal to check for spark if all is good with a nice blue spark Nott 🍊 that's bad or weak spark then check the plug. Shit adds up quick exspetioally if the car is worth 500.00 . I hope your doing the checking or work. If all is good not an itidmitting spark that can happen if unshure put the screwdriver in another plug good one. An get an idea what it looks like usually just pulling off a little bit you can tell buy the sound. you should hear the sparking anyway if you get lifted doin this I suggest changing your wires hahaha. Kinda like having your buddy stick his finger in the lawnmower plug wire to check for spark hahaha. Anyways don't buy shit till the basics are figured out. Pull the wires dry if unshure start the car up at night and wet them a little to see if you can see visible spark this is best at night. This is a good start . Make Shure the engine is cool before attempting . Best of luck.

P0300 is frequently a bad O2 sensor. If it runs good from a cold start then idle gets lumpy and exhaust starts smelling rich after a few minutes (closed loop), then it's probably an upstream O2 sensor.

@@shawna7975 Yes, antifreeze on the spark plug wires can cause a misfire. You can check the wires at night for shorts. Go to a place as dark as possible, not inside of a garage...LOL. Make sure your headlights are out. Let your eyes adjust to the darkness for a few minutes. Run the engine and if you see sparks "fireworks" all over your wires, then they are shorting. With the engine off you can use warm water sprayed into the engine bay to rinse the coolant off of the wires. Let it dry then you can wipe the plug wires with a rag soaked in WD-40. Good luck

I do believe that a misfire can cause your vehicle to go into "limp mode" (which is basically the cars way of protecting any severe damage from happening to the engine or catalytic converter). So, if you're only running on 3 cylinders; for example, it doesn't have full power and wants to protect itself.
This happened to me recently and my car was in "limp mode". I was also getting the "injector circuit open" code along with the misfire.

I was driving in some hill country today and started my cruise control and then I noticed to check engine light come on and was blinking. I immediately turned the cruise off and it went away. It was only on for 3 seconds. Do you think this is still a concern? I drove for 25 miles and no engine light and the Silverado wasn’t driving rough at all. I plugged in my obdII and it had maybe a stored code of P0300- pending
And if it didn’t give a cylinder number , aren’t the chances very low of it being a cylinder misfire? Thanks for the video and help! New sub

Not to mention I had stainless steel brake lines put on the truck from master all the way back The guy was supposed to get into the check engine light for me said he couldn't replicate the problem and that all cars especially 20-year-old ones now will always have a check engine light on as a mechanic I took this as an insult but went on with my business because I didn't have a lift to do my own brake lines and depended on somebody else to do it for me so I couldn't speak on his hypothesis.

What i got random and every cylinder as well 2007 5.7l Toyota Tundra. Changed spark plugs coils. Injectors pvc valve fuel regulator. Compression test came out good. Within 10 psi every cylinder. About to do a fuel pressure test. Waiting on special adaptors this Tundra does not have a schrader valve to connect to. I think I see a leak and might be losing coolant. I thought it might be the valve seals. Since the spark plug threads come out with fresh oil on them. But I will try to do a compression test on the radiator see if I see anything. And possibly a block test. Coolant does not look Toyota pink. Might have never been changed and has become acidic. Look more orange a lil tainted. Any guidance welcomed. I’m misfiring on all cylinders on cold start once it reaches drink temperature I can erase the codes. And they won’t come back till it’s cold again.

I recently decided to do a tune up on my 04 silverado 5.3 vortec. Before I began I had no issues and no check engine light. So I replaced all 8 spark plugs and went with 4 iridium and 4 double iridium because I'm impatient and didn't feel like waiting for the store to order more regular iridium. ( let me know if this was a bad idea) so I replaced all spark plugs wires and coil packs, I also replaced my ect sensor because I noticed the connection was broken. So after all that, now I'm getting a blinking check engine light and p0300, I have taken off all the new parts and put them back on over and over and cannot figure out what is causing the misfire. Any advice?

Mine just did the exact same thing 2 days ago. Bought it, drove ok then stopped to put bout 1/2 tank in it. Bam, engine light, rough af idle, loss off 90% power etc. Changed both cats, all 4 O2 sensors, now im having complete coil pks, wires, and plugs. If that doesnt fix it, on to fuel regulator, fuel pump, fuel filter. My last 2 guesses would be mas or shift 1/2 solenoids. As of this typing im $2600 into repairs to locate this bullshit p300. Smfh

Now I’m thinking since I got only p0300 now that my cat is broken or clogged. Normal idles for me, everything is normal exept when I use the throttle at about 50% +, the car start bugging and hesitating and the CEL starts flashing again for about 1 minute, then it stays on (The CEL) and the only code I get is a p0300 now. @@Gmackk Yes I did, my car is fine. The initial problem was really the fuel injector. My car is a 2.0L Turbocharged 2015 buick verano. It is direct-injection therefore the car really can’t handle regular gas. Always put 91 or supreme if recommended. I’ve done some of research on that and the fuel injector probably stopped working because of ethanol. Where I live there’s always around ~10% ethanol in the gas, so that might explain it. The higher fuel
grades are probably better than regular gas because they have more cleaning and better additives. I’ve used Lucas Oil about 7 times now, while always using 91-93 octane grade. This really cleaned all of my fuel injectors. And the reason I still had check engines like P0300 is because one of my spark plugs was cracked and broken (The new ones I’ve installed after then initial problem I’ve had) and I didn’t even noticed. Anyways feel free to ask me questions
