Adam's book is a very accurate depiction of life as a junior doctor. In my opinion, other healthcare professionals (including consultants) are abusing junior doctors, in various and multifaceted ways, namely revolved around eating off their plate (theft of their labour). This was a constant theme of the book; the intensity of the work, the length of the hours worked, and the lack of adequate remuneration for the commitment involved. Well done to Adam.

When you say the phrase eating off their plate what do you mean by that?? When I've heard people say this before it was meant in a way of a person basically being lazy.. for example you and your classmate are doing a project together and basically you do all of the work....But u both will receive a good grade from it... and also when you say theft of Labor...I take it to mean that I was only supposed to work 4 hours but at the last 15 minutes of my shift I will make a task that shouldn't take but maybe 20 minutes and prolong it as long as possible that way I am able to spend more time on the clock and I will be paid more money...I'm stealing labor.. if I am totally off I would really like to know please don't judge me to harshly I can't help it I'm only American....🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️... I bet you're thinking it all makes sense now LOL.... I've seen times where certain phrases May mean one thing in one area and something totally different elsewhere.. and also I've heard some phrases that I didn't have a clue what it meant until I looked it up....like him saying cheek by jowl earlier... that was new to me

I could listen to Adam all day! Whether it’s his audio books, which are hilarious in parts and extremely honest or in depth interviews where his knowledge and insight is so interesting

I remember hearing his material when I was a kid and working as a med student/junior doctor. Amateur transplants was Adam Kay and Suman Biswas and made you laugh about all.sorts of stuff you probably shouldn't but could see why they needed that outlet. Haven't read the book. 100% will

Our NHS has to be properly funded and the staffing gap has to be addressed,we cannot rely any longer on the sheer dedication of staff going beyond the call of duty ro keep our NHS functioning at such capacity.
We need an NHS fit for the 21st century and modernised and particularly addressing mental health both of staff and the general popualtion and its connection to our overall health and cause of disease

You're probably not going to get the same level of dedication anymore, because of the systemic flaws that filter the rewards to the wrong people.

I think his idea of the kids book is genius and it touches on such a broad spectrum of things that kids need to know... as well as for kids who don't have that relationship to have those talks about things like body image and puberty and mental health I think this is a great idea
