    OMG!!! John black super chemist. I am so happy I found you again. I was so sad when your last one was deleted.

      Philip...……...If it has been that long then I got a LOT of new videos since then. Glad your back. If youtube ever deletes me again you can always go on bitchute.com and ask me what my new channel on youtube will be. Here is a link to my bitchute.com channel www.bitchute.com/channel/u9H6xAuMA5qF/ They do not delete channels like youtube does so it should be there a long time

    Can you use this process to get an oxygen concentrator working again? Thanks

    • @jbsc6180
      @jbsc6180  2 роки тому +1

      Bob...................It depends on WHY the oxygen concentrator does not work any more. Most oxygen concentrators use molecular sieves to absorb nitrogen gas under pressure and this helps purify the air to being more oxygen. The sieves can only absorb a finite amount of nitrogen. Once the sieves are fully used they can be regenerated or replaced by new molecular sieves and then the oxygen concentrator will work again. I forget what size molecular sieves you need for a oxygen concentrator so you would have to look that up.
      Also i wanted you to know that this channel is abandoned and please go to my other channel and subscribe there and post questions or comments there. Here is a link to that channel ua-cam.com/channels/RlRakXX0hacAXBzen1dZcg.htmlvideos

      Bob...........I think the molecular sieves most commonly used in oxygen concentrators are called "zeolites 13X"

    To pull that last little bit out throw a little bit of lithium or sodium in there it'll pull it out

      Walter Sobchack............I did your suggestion and put some sodium in some 40% vodka to dry it out without any distillation and it blew up and I lost 2 fingers..........No I am just joking. That would be crazy........lol. You know I NEVER even though of using lithium instead of sodium for drying that last bit of water out of ether or what ever. That might be easier to break a lithium battery open. Of course I was just going to make VERY impure sodium and it throw it in the ether impure. Cause I would distill it afterwards so the impurities in the sodium wont matter. Maybe try both

      Walter Sobchack...........Just made like 270 mL of EtBr. So far it is a 90% yield. I just washed it so it is cooling back down in the freezer. I need to dry it with some CaCl2 and distill it to see my exact yield but I am very proud of the 90% so far. Even if it goes down to 80% I would be very happy. Trying to get ready for my grignards. Figured ether is the only thing I do not want to store or stock up on and that is all that is left to make. It better work with out iodine to kick it off cause I have recrystallizing iodine to get some clean dry iodine

      Walter Sobchack..................I am FINALLY almost done with my carboxy methyl benzene video. Just filtered my mother liquor(toluic acid dissolved in ethanol azeotrope). God it took forever to filter out the crap in it. It all just kept going threw the filter. Finally just had to let it sit and settle to the bottom and then decant. Now I just need to add some water to make the product precip out and filter it..........thank god this is almost over.....lol. Hopefully tommorow

      Walter Sobchak...............Sorry to hear about your kids problem. Sometimes EXTREME problems require EXTREME solutions. My one kid started getting carried away with drugs ( my guess is oxycotton). I had the same thoughts as you. The thing about that solution is will it last after they get off the drugs and cleaned up. Most times if it was not their decision to quit they just go back to the drugs............ANYWAYS.......he moved out of state last year. Half a year ago I cut him off from borrowing money from me. And recently he met a girl. And she got him in check with his drugs. So I got lucky................It is funny how when we were kids.........at least me..........would tell my mom not to worry and she was just being stupid..........And now the shoe is on the other foot..........ANYWAYS GOOD LUCK BUDDY .........I HOPE THINGS WORK OUT

    Throw a small hand full of sieves in as boiling stones to help with that bumping.

      Mark Green............Well you made my day. I was wandering if people would realize I am starting to put in extra video at the end of some videos. Well that sounds like a good idea using sieves as boiling stones. For me though ........sieves are to valuable (harder to get and cost money) to use as boiling stones. That is why I made this video ua-cam.com/video/DvdK9bh7etw/v-deo.html where I make boiling stones from old coffee cups and old broken lab glass. Remember to NEVER use broken lab glass as boiling stones if the broken chips are thin. You want CHUNKS of glass. When you use thin chips the chips stick to the bottom of the flask and defeat the purpose of being boiling stones. The stir rod is just for experiments where you fill the pot up to half way or SLIGHTLY more than half filled OR the liquids are easily bumped. For EXTREME cases. Like when I distill sulfuric acid. It is so hot and acidic I definitely do not want any bumping. So I use the stir rod to make sure if it does bump the bubble will be broken by the stir rod. But weather I use the stir rod or not I always use boiling stones in conjunction with the stir rod. ANYWAYS.............thanks for the post and have a great day

      @@jbsc6180 yeah sieves aren't exactly cheap are they? I've got a small hand full that I re-use for boiling stones but they kinda sucked from the start (or should I say they didn't suck/absorb), probably why I used them in the first place.
      Keep up the awesome content man, this is a niche type of video since so few people enjoy this stuff. Kinda sucks, I can count off the chemistry channels on my hands, we really need more people doing this.

      Mark Green...............Lol....they didn't suck. Sieves aren't that expensive but I have no credit card so ordering stuff becomes a problem ..............Thanks buddy for the compliment. I am trying. My goal is to have unique reactions like chem player with nile red type editing. After a year I finally found an editing program I can figure out so hopefully it will get better. Life problems keep interfering though
