So many 10 pins on solid pocket hits. Warren had the shortest approach I have seen especially for a tall man. Bizarre happenings in the final game. Holman bowled fantastic in the latter frames of the final match. There was nothing like the Pro Bowlers tour and then followed up by Wide World of Sports with the legendary Jim McKay.
2:10 even with Bo pointing out how bad he'd sucked for years, Marshall was actually cordial and spoke well here. Its a shame he turned into Marshall Assholman on the approaches....🤷♂️ because otherwise he seemed pretty cool.
MARSHALL HÓLMAN. TITLE #20! As Bo stated: His peers call him "Magnificent Marshall". He has definitely earned that praise. Very nice guy & perfect gentleman OFF the lanes. Tiger ON the lanes. Voted the 9th best bowler in the history of the PBA. 2008 vote by the BWAA.
It's great to see these archive tourneys, thank you Mr B, but it has to be said that Chris Schenkel and Nelson Burton are absolutely hopeless! Oh well. Marshall is still bowling and cashing, amazing!

@@vonzigle Even though I never tried the duckpin bowling, I did watch the pros bowl the 🦆pin bowling and it looked like it was very difficult- much harder than the 10 pin bowling 🎳. How did you do?
@@lynettepalecek3141 It was quite difficult, as you guessed. The pins were very far apart, so you had to throw at a good speed. This was some time ago-but as a 10 pin bowler with an average of 165, my duckpin average was around 100!
@@vonzigle 100 sounds like a good score for duck pin bowling. I've heard a couple of the professional 10 pin bowlers say that they bowled about the same as you did because it was so difficult to do. There will never be a bowler in history who's more solid at the line as Don Genalo.
i was 9 when i watched this this was the year i started watching bowling and bowling on weekends
Before he was leading the Clean Up Crew on UA-cam, Coach Bakes was in his prime!
Congratulations Marshall Holman for winning the championship game!! 🎳

In his fifties, Don Genalo worked as a mail carrier for the postal service.
He commentates on a Toledo TV amateur bowling show at Southwyck Lanes, a dump of a bowling center that I will never again enter….
Wow. While thats a decent job, this guy was one of the top pros for a few years...you'd think he'd be doing something in the field still.

If Mark Baker ever learned balance, he would have been a legend.
He absolutely fell over every shot for sure
Warren's scissors-drop was an accident, but It made me think of the stunts Bill Murray's character pulled in "Kingpin"!
They used footage from this tournament for some clips in Bo Burton’s vhs instructional video Score More 👍🏼

Marshall Holman puts a tremendous amount of roll on the ball.
True fact.. if you sprinkle a little carrot on your warts, they will shrink and you can start bowling again!

It definitely isn’t an Open.
I learned how to bowl by watching these guys on tv but I started off with duckpins instead of tenpins
Keith Carpenter I tried duckpins when I was visiting the east coast some years back... With smaller pins and balls, I thought it was very hard! 🦆🦆

Spot on.
Don Genalo literally threw away the 1983 Southern California Open.
Mike Durbin missed the show by 59 pins.
I always laugh at the geezers who claim the old time bowlers were classier than the current bowlers.
