How St Viateur Makes Its Iconic Montreal-Style Bagels
So humble to name their competitor, love a friendly competition
And their both taste deliciously 💖💖💖💖💖💖
visited from new york and can confirm st viateur is absolutely the best bagel in the world
As a Philadelphia guy who moved to Québec I can confirm 100% that La Liberté is waaay better than our cream cheese 🥯. The bagels definitely have a sweetness not present in NY style bagels but that cream cheese, tabarnak c’est absolument fantastique!!
Yes 👍 liberté cream cheese is the best! Even the low fat one is good
Now to teach them how to make proper a cheese steak lol
New Yorkers and Jerseyans don't use Philadelphia primarily. We use Temptee cream cheese
@@Chulaan Both are produced at the Lowville, NY creamery owned by Kraft.
It's being discontinued! I don't know how I'm going to survive.
We used to drive 6 hours to get to St. Viateurs just in time for opening. 40 years later, they’re still the best.
As a Montréal girl that moved to NYC, I can vouch for our Montréal bagels any day! NY bagels are just hard and so dense and heavy. Mtl bagels are fluffy, chewy and soft. Can't wait for this pandemic to be over so I can go back to my favorite city.
ny bagels are basically kaiser buns with a hole. no flavour to them.
I couldn't agree more. I've eaten my share of NYC-style and Montreal-style bagels and Montreal-style bagels are my favorite by far.
Yea our bagels are hard and fat lol. I like them but I try not to eat them a lot for health reasons. I wanna try y'all's bagels fr 🇺🇸 ❤ 🇨🇦 ✌
After opening a NY and Montreal bagel spot, the people of Pyongyang decided that Montreal bagels are the best
No way NY style is way better and this is coming from a real life sandwich
Thanks Kim
stop begging for likes
@@asandwich5637 stop!!😂😂
@@storylanes6779 what do you want me to do?
I know this was recorded a while ago but it's so weird to see no people wearing masks omg
It's definitely jarring. I was watching a movie that has a crowd and a part of me was like 'omg why are they not wearing masks?!'
"WOW"
I go there yesterday and is the same. the bagel put in a pack and any employee can spit or use handpick the bagel. now is 2020, I wonder Y they don't use fork to pick bagel.
HEALTH INSURANCE OF CANADA BABYYYYYYY
cause you're brainwashed
There's a magic to eating a Montreal bagel straight from the bag, piping hot.....
I've lived around the world, and there's nothing like it...
Omg. Now I'm craving an all dressed bagel with salmon smear.
I feel you!
*Shmear
‘all dressed’ is not a bagel! sesame all day baby!
This is absolutely deserve to be in the bucket list. Looks so yummy on it's own!
Depending of where you are, they deliver! I just received my box yesterday.
The best bagel in the world. Nothing better than a St. Viateur bagel. Maybe a St. Viateur "beautywich" (cream cheese, thinly sliced salmon, red onion and tomato). Heaven.
Best bagel out there, hands down. The sweetness of the honey, with the wood-fired taste, makes them the best tasting bagel. By the way, NYT Cooking has their recipe, and it makes for a nice homemade substitute if you're constantly craving Montreal bagels, like I am.
Yes is popular in Poland
I'm from Poland and l love this taste is delicious ❤️❤️❤️🤗💕
I used to live in Montreal and I can confirm !
Montreal 🥯are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Took a trip to Montreal a few years ago and remember to stop by St Viateur. It really is as good as they say it is. Even compared to New York bagel I think I prefer this style. You don’t even have to put anything on it.
That looks really good to be honest🥰
I can absolutely confirm they are delicious! I went in the morning one year visiting Montreal to buy a dozen for 8 people as breakfast, I ended up eating 5.... I had to make a U turn to buy another dozen. They didn't last a day!
Ummm . Crispy on the outside with delicious toasted sesame seeds, soft-firm sweet inside, buttery sweet and yeasty. Perfect for my mouth! Not at all like a grocery chain bagel. I’m glad they are being flown on to Edmonton Alberta once a week now!
Love this style of video. More in depth, more detail, and thoughtful reviews.
New York: Finally, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary
There’s no competition Montreal has the best bagels
are you kidding NY bagels are the greatest bagels in the world. Montreal bagels are bagel wannabes with way worse taste.
@@asandwich5637 you should try it before placing your opinion, clearly you’re bias as hell. But can’t blame you, Americans lately have made lots of bad choices (like electing trump as president).
Montreal for the win. Hands down.
@Joshua Nieves Sadly, you can. To quote the late Anthony Bourdain on the matter:"*&Y*&(*&!"
This is the place to go--definitely the best in Montreal.
When we visited Montreal we tried both St Viateur and Fairmount... and I don't remember which one I liked better, but I can tell you that they are both extremely good and that I only very narrowly preferred one over the other.
The best bagels! Glad you got to try them, Herrine!!
If y'all could go ahead and open up a branch in Toronto that would be great
ong
they are available at Metro grocery stores here in Ontario! at least they are in Guelph.
As someone who has had these bagels, WhataBagel is my preference by far. But tbf these bagels are so unique they’re almost non comparable
@@Gurken9250 from what I can see on their website Whatabagel is more comparable to New York style, too thick to compare with Montreal style
@@davidaucoin7280 Yeah but it isn't the same as getting them fresh and eating them right out of the bag. Open in Toronto!
Love these we just consulted a bagel company start up
Best - In - Town is a great series
That wood oven is awesome!
Those bagels are really a *hole in one.*
From Brooklyn and this is the best bagel I've ever had.
The best bagels I've ever had. I still live in NYC and nothing comes close to them. I've recommended this place over 3 dozen times. I only tell them to bring back me 3. They usually bring me back 6
Now I have to develop my own bagel style.
OMG been a decade since I've been there. The people are super nice. I bought one bagel just cause I was told to by a friend. They gave me a second one for free. Nice people make great bagels
I loved the producer's analysis. It was so thorough and almost scientific. 😂💙👏👌
Ok ok Montreal you got me i will visit soon. Secretly just wants to hear the accent and say Bon matin, câlice haha 🙈
I miss these... and live the presenter!
ME WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS: 🤤🤤🤤
I was also here last February before the lockdown. Interesting times 😁
I really want one of their bagels!
Make that 2 😁
Hellow im from the phillipines and i love your video food insider im solid fan🇵🇭🇵🇭🙄🙄😊😊❤❤
Mmmmmmmmmm. I love St Viateur and all Montreal bagels
I can confirm that these bagels are legit. They have a texture unlike any other. Must try if you're a bagel fan!
I sure am a bagel fan! Thanks for the tip!
Why would a bagel fan try if it’s a fan of the bagel lmao
About 5 years ago, I bought a toasted, buttered sesame bagel here. Now I don't recognize any primo bagel but theirs. At the same time, I would eat any bagel now, living in Morelia, jaja!
As a new yorker, I'm really interested in trying these. I love our bagels but Montreal bagels look really good too. I'm going there this June. I've been to Montreal before but my dumbahh didn't try one lol. Best Canadian city/province imo ❤ ✌
LA: we got a lot of growing up to do.
I love Bagels I want a trip to Montreal so I can go have some of those look so good yum!
Damn you quarantine! Keeping my bagels out of reach. Barely an hour away 😢
Go get it and just eat outside... Is not too cold yet lol
Wear a mask, bring a hand sanitizer and go for it
So we all now know what happened to Bilbo Baggins. He setup his own bagel shop.
So hungry for bagels now 😋😋😋 And I thought Costco bagels was ono. Man I can’t wait to travel just for the foods!!
I have never been so early in my life.
Yum. I want one.
I love St. Viateur bagels.
I am very happy when you create the latest content. And I really want to try it 🤤
Those bagels look so good
I was able to go here once and boy it did not disappoint.
I live so close to montreal and didnt know that :o
I'm from Toronto and I went there once in 2018
Nice, I love Toronto 😍👍
I'm so mad at Beauty's Bagels in Oakland for moving away from their Montreal style woodfire baked bagels 😡
I stop by St Viateur every other week and half the bagels don't even make it to my car.
Hands Up 🙆 Best Bagels in Montreal Ever. 😀
🙋
bc the salmon isnt cuts of salmon its creamier... ITS CREAM CHEESE SALMON FLAVOR
The BEST bagels in the world!
The best damn bagel in the world.
I miss going to Canada so much 🇨🇦😢
I miss living in Canada so much
Well crap! Now I have to plan a trip to Montreal. But because we have the cooties here in the U.S., Canada (rightly so) won’t let us in. :-( Get it together America! I need this bagel fix LOL!
You can order them on Goldbelly!! They’re on sale right now.
Damn I have never been this early
Tourists out there, get the fairmount bagels though
Fairmount its like Ferrari, st viator it's like a lambo... it doesn't matter witch is better, it's juste a matter of question witch one do you prefer.. for me personally I prefer Ferraris over lambos , so I'll choose the Fairmont beagle 🤗🤗🤗
MTL bagel 🔥🔥
Everything bagels are the only ones worth eating
_New Yorkers have entered the chat_
omg wtf i've been here when i was on holiday ! got a t shirt too :)
I was an avid NYC bagel eater for life until I tried a Montreal bagel 2 years ago, it’s no comparison. Montreal bagels are far better than NYC. Not even close, they are far superior in every way from crunchy exterior bathed in seeds on both side and plush inside. They are also so aromatic.
Northern California is in need of a good or great bagel restaurant. I know opening one is risky right now but in the future ❤
Man This Will Be Delicious
I live here lol !!!!
How do American Bagels taste like? Here in poland we have Obwarzanek krakowski which looks like bagel.
Was just wondering if Poland had some form of bagel. Is yours boiled, then baked? Onions, sesame, poppy seeds???
So goooooood.
Yummy 😋
their bagels are the best
Wow amazing
God I love bagels!
It’s amazing
Quebec stand up 💯💯
i'm sorry but everyone does it better than the US when it comes to food✌🏼😂
Merci
Lived in Montreal for 5 years...New York bagels have NOTHING on St. Viateur/Fairmont
Y am i so early ahha
This thing come be like panla fish
Now I'm hungry for 🥯s. But I can't visit 🇨🇦😔
no no no you can only get the sesame! the others are compromised! sesame is the original
I feel it now
I can smell this video, delicious.
But it’s not Brick Lane, East London 🤷🏻 Looks awesome tho 😻😻😻
Good old Indian food on brick lane ...
St-Viateur best bagels in th world, no doubt
Anthony Bourdain said the same.
Meyer’s bagels, Burlington VT
Way more expensive, and probably not as good
@@zedxyle I can’t compare because I’ve never been to St Vieteur, but the owner/ baker at Meyers bagels worked at St Viateur and trained there and uses the same techniques. Just thought I’d throw it out there and see if anyone new of Meyer’s bagels
@@yuhboris304 fair enough. I'm sure they're still good
Nice
Of course canada is going to have better skills at baking bagels, that whole natural environment promotes rustic, simplistic cooking, not like the states.
Not just "montreal-style" This is the real thing, though I thing Real Bagel is better, the bagels are sweeter and softer.
Word, another one of us Real Bagel enthusiasts!
bagels make a tricky shit
The best bagels
