I use the large pre-made pie crusts or sometimes do homemade, put slices of onions and some extra feta in the center. It is SO delicious with the fresh homegrown tomatoes!
Ummm, never thought to use feta with tomatoes that way...I'd only just reserved feta for Greek salad 🥗 😋...I like your idea, abd and will try it♡ Thanks 😊
Hi Kevin, we live about 1 hour from London. We thoroughly enjoy welcoming people to our b&b (only 2 letting rooms). You obviously enjoy interacting with your large number of followers. Most days I like to stop for a welcome cup of tea and watch your relaxing and genuinely warm videos, you have a beautiful home by the way! Best wishes, Kay UK 🇬🇧
The tomato pie was a big hit! Next time I make it, I am going to add green chilies in place of the basil. Thank you for a great recipe. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos.
NIFTY BISCUITS! 0:48 Thanks, Mr. Jacobs! We had a little tartlet version of this Southern favorite at our wedding reception, they were a huge hit, and I can't wait to make your version!
Oh yummy, will be making it. It's so delicious. Keep up sending us some easy recipes. To make. Thank you for sharing. It just gave me an idea and l was thinking of making them in muffin baking pans.
Wow!! Thank you for this recipe and video! I've tried other recipes for tomato pie (including one from a Lady in Savanah) and never really took a shining to any of them. I did like the one I had at a B & B in St. Augustine, Florida. I will have to give your recipe a try based on everyone positive reaction to it. I like the idea of the biscuit pie crust - that's a brilliant idea! Thank you again. I enjoying watching your videos each day that I get a chance to do so. I am working to get them all watched and liked before the New Year arrives this year. Take care and be safe! 😉💖🙏
Well I’m amazed I grew up in Prescott Arkansas we had gardens of different vegetables 🍅🌽🌶 and greens 🥬 but I never heard of a tomato 🍅 🥧 yours look so good 😊 I think 🤔 I’m going to try it 😌
Believe it or not I had this in Italy and they topped it with grated Parmesan. The tomatoes were exploding with flavor and they were all baked in a wood-burning oven.
I place the salted tomatoes in a strainer with salt for a few minutes to do juice them. No soggy bottom that way. I only make if I have time for real pie crust. I also use Basil, mayo and cheddar a generous chop of chive or green onion on top
I would be pleased to be the first to comment on this recipe, as I've been making it ever since I first saw it on your website. It is a family favourite, and guests rave about it. You might want to make two of these if you're having more than five to the table, because everyone wants two pieces. I've made it twice in the past two weeks. Thank you for this!
Craving fresh tomatoes. I've eaten this all my life (Southerner). We use pimento (vs cheddar) cheese and add bacon bits and mandolin sliced potatoes. Never any leftovers!
This method solves a problem: I've used pie crusts which become soggy. The bisquit crust will be sturdier and I can't wait to try this because I love love love tomato pie!!!
This pie looks delicious! Such a quick easy recipe! I live in the south, (near Nashville Tennessee) but I have never had tomato pie! I love tomatoes, so I may try this recipe. I don't have mayonnaise but I have yogurt, sour cream, and salad dressing. Can I substitute any of those? I'm so jealous of those who have access to fresh tomatoes! I live in an apartment so a garden is not feasible for me😞. I hate store-bought tomatoes, but I don't have access to fresh tomatoes! At least I can buy fresh basil in my local supermarket. Does anyone know where I can get fresh tomatoes in my area? I will probably just use grape or cherry tomatoes as they have more flavor than those hard, mealy, tasteless store-bought tomatoes.
Lynn Wilhoite -Most grocery stores sell “tomatoes on the vine” where the other tomatoes are sold. I know Walmart does so you’ll have to look in the produce section. They cost a little more but they taste so much better that the regular tomatoes.
Hi Kevin, Excellent video as always. I do have a question, Must one use American Mayo? It's easier for me to find French style mayo, but not American style. Do you think it would still work?
I must say, that is the most beautiful basil I have ever seen ! I have never seen leaves that large !
So easy using the biscuits and so good, Thank you for sharing,
Kev, looks wonderful I put green onions in my tomato pie also.

I’m making this as we speak! Thank you!
I put a layer of sliced mozzarella or provolone on crust before adding tomatoes. The crust is crisper that way.
Me too!

Hi Sherri - You are right, this pie disappears in a flash. Better to make two of 'em!
So right,,,Always fresh garden tomatoes!! :)

Kevin, what do you think about combining mayo and yogurt???...just a thought.
I love the concept of this pie...indeed so simple♡
I've made tomato pie before, but not the way you make it so I'm going to make it your way 😋
I didn't get to see much of the final product 🙁 Up close view would have shown what it looked like after cooking.
I think I usually say "bayzle", but it's not impossible that I might say "bozzle" from time to time too :)
Kevin can this be served cold or re-heated? If I want to make ahead for a brunch?
Hi Kimberley - I've enjoyed this pie at all temperatures: hot, warm, and even cold from the fridge.
tomato pie yum but i'll pass on the biscuit crust cuz i'm a snob foodie.ty for video
This dish looks simply delicious. If I was making this tomato pie, I would add some onion and garlic to the pie.
I agree. I add garlic and cayenne pepper to EVERYTHING :)
@@mazgours In lieu of cayenne pepper, I use Tobasco sauce.
Hi Kevin, Excellent video as always. I do have a question,
Must one use American Mayo? It's easier for me to find French style mayo, but not American style. Do you think it would still work?
I love mustard-y French mayo! I haven't tried it for this pie, but if you do, let me know how it works out for you!
POWERFUL AMAZING DELICIOUS EXCELLENT DAPHNE COTTON!● BROWN FAMILY.💜
U assume this is nit a dessert pie
I don't trust where you hands have been
Don't mean any disrespect ..but this is the worse tasting tomato pie I've ever tasted..It has way to much crust...Sorry but I don't like it...
Sorry is this a joke?
Mayonnaise is so disgusting there’s got to be something better I’ll try the yogurt but we’ll see
trude ross...I agree, I hate mayonnaise. Did you make the pie using yogurt? How did it turn out?
Sour cream is much better.
That’s your stupid opinion. Some people like myself actually like it.
@dailee9813
Thanks...I love sour cream and I often combine it with yogurt for a different taste.
