Luke 23:43 the thief on the cross was told by Jesus that he would be with Him in Paradise (heaven) that day... The Word is deep and there is so much to be mined from it. Just this morning.. my pastor was teaching about Hell and how the body stays in the ground but the soul returns to God upon death.. i need to do a deep dive about the spirit because i thought the spirit returned to God.. anyway, if you are interested in this mornings service.. its new life pentecostal church of Tucson, Arizona......the sermon was deep. Well I was under the belief that we do go to heaven immediately but then I got the comments from several people saying you don’t . Now there are so many comments making arguments for both beliefs. It’s more discouraging than helpful tbh with you
Yes.. I imagine so.. were all learning together.. I was dialoguing w my dad this afternoon because it makes you wanna go deep.. anyway, he pointed me to ecclesiates12:7 as did another commenter, but we are part soul too . The soul doesn't die.. so if the spirit returns to our Creator.. then, the soul goes to either hell or heaven.. because we go to one of two places right? Then, during the white throne judgement.. that is when the unbelievers will be judged by God for their actions. Is what I understand, according to scripture. The believers are not part of that judgement although we will be held accountable for what we did or didn't do.. you know the part about receiving the crowns according to what we did. The bible can be a bit daunting..
Hey Marcus, I've been watching your stuff for a little bit now and it brings me joy to see many of my brothers and sisters post content about Jesus Christ and the Bible. When it comes to subjects that you are conflicted on I encourage you to seek out an elder Christian who would know more about this matter and when you find verses that talk about this matter to gain the context from which that verse is taken from to better understand the meaning of those verses more clearly. The Holy Spirit will also help you as well for it is written "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come." (John 16:13). I also had to do research on it and he led me to a source that helped me understand the context of John 3:13 which many would use for a topic like this. Hope this helps and God be with you sir in Jesus name.

Hi Marcus. I'm definitely no Bible scholar, but one thing to remember is the body & the spirit of a man are two separate things. There is the scripture in 2 Corinthians about being absent from the body but at home or present with the Lord. I haven't studied this subject in a long time, so it is definitely something I will revisit. We all know in part & every detail is not explained. I am a bottom line kinda person. I believe one day, we all stand before the Father to give an account, and the eternal destination will be Heaven or Hell.
Marcus, additionally, there is a change (for lack of a better word) that took place after the death, burial, and RESURRECTION of Jesus. Get some rest, my friend, for your work at hand, and put this topic rest for now 🙏

I have a lot of respect for you for this. Some people would never accept the fact that they could be wrong and for that reason I believe that one day God will cut them off from ministering to his lambs. Because God wants us to be willing humbled vessels. God wants us to love one another no matter what. I've been to churches that have bullied me and as a result I now have a fear to go to church. The moment that anyone thinks they are better than someone else they are unfortunately living a lie of and idolizing themselves. When I go to church it's so easy to see that I'm put down as trash and others put themselves on a pedestal. Honestly it's sad because church is supposed to be a place where all of Christ's brothers and sisters can come to worship our Heavenly Father. Unfortunately One day they will have a really sad awakening when God says "depart from me, I never knew you". We are definitely living in end times. When the widowed is denied help, I'm about to lose my home and no one in my community wants to really help my son because he lost his Dad at the age of 3. I can feel it in my soul that the Lord is coming and I'm ready. Because, I honestly can't take much more pain that this cruel world has been giving me.
I’m sorry to hear about your church hurt. Don’t give up on all churches though. You keep going and trying them until you find the right one. The Bible says that we are supposed to help the widowed and orphaned so it’s the churches obligation to help you

Actually, we do go to heaven immediately when we (Christians) die. Jesus didn't say to the thief on the cross that eventually you will be with me in heaven, He said today you will be with me in heaven ( Luke 23:43).

Marcus, you are doing your best to turn people's eye to Jesus. The thief on the cross believed in the last hour before he was crucified, what did Jesus tell him? Luke 23:43 Today you will be with me in paradise.
The Bible doesn't make everything absolutely clear but many people will quote scripture they feel confirms something. And sometimes we, those people, misunderstand.
Keep studying and read the Word, let the uncertainties lie until God gives you clarification, if He sees fit. Bless you, brother 🙏 ❤

I was always under the impression that as soon as we died we either spawned in or woke up in heaven or hell. John 3:13 really does make it sound like the dead are unconscious, unfeeling idk what to believe though.
Ok I've been thinking about this for a while, and I remember this story in the Bible about a rich man and a poor man, both current in heaven and hell. We know this is current because the rich man mentions wanting to go back and warn his brothers about the eternal punishment that is hell (and obviously it isn't after rapture) so either, you go to heaven later but hell straight away, or you go to heaven or hell stars.

I think those are true. I think God is capable of showing us the glory for a moment but none of those people are truly dead but just having a near death experience

Luke 16:19-31 and Matthew 8:11-12 talk about Abraham's Bosom and Hades. I wont say that's where all the dead go because it's not stated in the Bible, but I hope it helped. I plan to read the whole Bible because I easily miss small stuff like this for example.

People have claimed that they have seen hell and testified about what they saw i don't believe the people they claim they saw are actually there yet if what they say is real i believe that what they saw is what it will be like after GOD judges the living and the dead

But when the person on the cross next to Jesus was dying, Jesus told him that today he would be with him in heaven. And to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. If you read a lot of Paul's writing he talks about heaven also. I think in the old testament they might not have had a lot of understanding about the afterlife. And some people like Enoch and I think Elijah didn't even die, but we're taken to heaven with the Lord.

I'm not saying you or anyone else is wrong because I think there is a good argument for both sides here. I am now wondering what's the deal with this. Here are my questions: what about Luke 23:43 "And he said unto Jesus, Lord remember me when thou comest into thy Kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in paradise." So what do you think paradise is?

That isn’t blaspheming the Holy Spirit. That’s called grieving the Holy Spirit. It’s willful disobedience to God and it is serious but there is grace. You know you’re in the wrong so you need to correct it and stop. Repent and give it to Jesus. Then you will start to feel convicted by it. God bless you and your heart

You’re talking about Elijah. The Bible talks about the dead will hear the voice of the son of God and they will rise from the dead.
The only thing that I believe contradicts this idea is the thief on the cross. Jesus said to him, "Verily, I say to you. Today you shall join me in paradise." Now, I doubt that the sleep of death is paradise, but it's also fairly obvious that Jesus did not descend into Hell either, but that's a discussion for another day. It may seem like this verse contradicts, but that's not the case at all.
Now, I do believe there is a time where we ALL will be judged and justified. That day is still coming, but time is a rather... "relative" thing. (Genuinely I hate saying that, because of how that word has been abused over the years.) Now to be fair, Jesus could have been telling him that his Faith is affirmed, because at the end of the day we all will receive our wages (See the Parable of the Vineyard Matt 20:1-16) However, time on earth is certainly different than it is in Heaven.
I recall one person describing it as "You were going to be saved, you are being saved and you are saved" all of these statements are true at the same time. Another describes it as, when God says something will happen it will as assuredly as if it has already occurred. This day the thief died and he was with Jesus in Paradise as well as is going to be.
While we may not "instantly go to heaven", I genuinely don't believe in any state of "purgatory". This concept of "sleep" is the closest and the most reassuring for me. AND YET, it's also ok for me to be wrong. I am only human. However, these are what my thoughts are on the topic. Thank you for asking and reading.

This just sounds wrong, look at the story of the rich man and Lazarus. They were instantly taken to their designated space. Look at 1 Corinthians 15:51-52. Sure we die, but we go somewhere RIGHT when we die! The physical bodies of the dead will raise, not their soul and spirit! You think we bury souls and spirits in the ground? Why then, are they dead? Because their spirit is not there! They are given a body just as God wishes (1 Corinthians 15:38). Please don't let these trivial things be speculated to your deceit. All the scriptures you mentioned by the way are not 'clearly mentioning' anyone 'sleeping' in the ground. Sleep is DEATH. Their physical bodies are DEAD, and just as Christ rose from the dead, obviously His Spirit didn't stay in the body for 3 days, no! He went and got the keys of the gates of hell and took authority of Earth straight front Satan! We will be with Christ at death, and during His timing, our physical bodies will be raised and our permanent glorified body will be given to us.

Sorry to bother you again. Is Mocking the unforgivable sin (Not God) Forgivable? I was watching a Vid and I opened my Mouth like I was shocked, then I did it again. And then I said to my Pentecostal friend, that the unforgivable sin is mocking God, even tho I know it wasn’t. Is this forgivable….?

@@thetornadocrusader968 True, I think it was too. lt always seemed since Jesus used a name and related so literally to the rich man's will to tell his family to stop sinning so that they wouldn't join him in hell, that it was an actual real life story as a warning. Based on the bible in many places, Marcus is right that heaven and hell isn't until second resurrection, so I always thought that parable was really interesting. Plus based on the Word, Jesus went to Hell (Sheol) to convert and minister to all unrepentant souls between his death and resurrection. Not sure but learning more everyday 🤔
