Absolutely stunning building! Massive respect to the team of cleaning staff for their great care and attention... they've kept it looking beautiful. What a fascinating job that must be. Thank you Darren for taking us inside with you. Amazing video 😊❤
Great video as always. One of my last projects with Education Bradford as it was by then in 2001 was to put together a couple of BBC Micro computer systems, along with the external floppy disc drives (5 1/4 in, not the now rarely seen 3.5in discs) and monitors (Microvitec Cub ones of course, they were based just half a mile away from City Hall and their HQ ended up been the home of Education Bradford and is now a school). These BBC based systems were to drive the bells when playing tunes. Times move on, but I can proudly say I had my little part to play in keeping them going.
What a beautiful building. Amazing. Loved the “loos”. Spectacular. Thank you Darren. We would never know anything about those Incredible buildings if not for you. Thank you.
Beautiful old building Darren thanks for sharing. I remember those old ring phones it took ages to dial a number especially if it had a long dialling code. Sir Kenneth Grange designer of the “HST” train and what a fabulous design it was too👏🏻
Fantastic couple of videos. I've had a few tours of Bradford city hall (first one was in the 90s on a school trip) and you showed some rooms I haven't seen which makes me happy. I was told of the ghosts that are said to haunt the building on one tour. I've also toured Dewsbury Town Hall and was very surprised when we were allowed up the clock tower. With your love of old toilets you need to get to John Rylands Library in Manchester and visit the toilets down the stairs near the original main entrance.
I recently discovered your channel and I've binge watched some of your passed videos over the weekend, as a lover of history, architecture, ghosties and railways it ticks every box, keep up the good work 👍
Well you've done it again. This video is fantastic, what a beautiful building. So lovingly cared for & maintained. Congrats Darren one of your best films so far.Thank you.
That's absolutely amazing, Darren! So many people must walk by that building (hell, I've even done it myself) without any clue of all that underoccupied grandeur inside - and what a loo to review! You certainly keep the best bits to the last, thank-you!
I reckon the portrait of the old fellow with the yellow tie about 18'23" will be J B Priestley (I know that he was only kidding when he said Peter Sallis). He was from Bradford or thereabouts and popular for his Yorkshireness (and books and broadcasts and stuff).

Ohhhhhh Darren das war ja wieder eine super tolle Führung. Ich bin überwältigt von der Pracht des Gebäudes. Was diese Wände erzählen könnten. Und entschuldige meine verspätete Reaktion ☺️👋🏻 Thank you Darren 👋🏻👋🏻
When I was a little kid like 6/7 years old in like 1981 my dad was a councillor and I spent every Saturday running wild round that town hall. My sister and I used to go in the clock tower - I don’t know how far up. But you could basically look down the shaft. To a glass roof. I used to wee - obviously - down that shaft. But my main recollection is walking around a ledge to go into a bathroom. Anyway I’m now gonna watch this video and see if any of that is covered or any other memories come back. Just watched it. So I’ve been up that staircase. It wasn’t metal back in the day it was wood. I’ve been above that partitions which wasn’t there in the 80s and you could go further up and believe it or not there is a toilet up there.
So, what did you nick from the mayor's office? Lol ❤ Darren, I love your tours of famous buildings, stations, hotels, etc. Please see if you can get into and film behind the scenes at the Crucible in Sheffield. A must see for snooker fans worldwide!
Find out about the play that was performed in the council chamber, my daughter took part in it. It was based on people against a specific trans Atlantic trade agreement. It was around 2015 and called ‘We’re not stupid’. It was really good and us the audience took part, that last performance was filmed, I was sat to the bottom left in front of the mayors seat The whole audience wore balaclavas and they gave us things to bang, pan lids and wooden spoons lol
Easy to find out - It's just 1 of 1000's of *Yorkshire* productions missing from *IMDB,* however I'm mainly busy updating the 17,000+ incomplete *Yorkshire* productions already there, plus more random stuff. It's called *The Deal Versus the People,* can be found on *Common Wealth* channel, stars people like *T Kid* (who changed his rap name to *Lucky Looch* around 5 years ago for some reason, even though there was already a rapper with that name), and was filmed by filmmaker *Jack King.*
one thing I saw in the video in the banqueting suit on the left wall of the lord mayor board is a continuation of the list. That's why the first list stops at 1995 probably because of symmetry and space.
See if you can get to look in the court house at Thornton View Hospital or what used to be but I believe the Court House was a listed building and they once filmed an episode of In living memory with Thora Hird just before I worked there in 1980's, there's a lot of History in that building.
Darren, that building screams Craftsmanship from top to bottom. The Loo "bathroom" you ended with must have cost more to construct than my whole house. Leave it to the Victorians to overdo everything.....
10:34 How many years has that statement brutalist concrete monstrosity of a car park been blighting the heart of Bradford? Thank goodness common sense is finally prevailing. The sooner all these 1960s as subtle as a brick excrescences foisted on an unsuspecting public are consigned to the dustbin of history, the sooner we can begin to take pride in and look after our home towns again.
Loved this video as I live near Bradford, but why have none of the fireplaces ever been used ? no soot, no burn marks, nothing.. they are just like Brand New. ???
I'm still waiting for the click tower. Why do you think they don't want people going up there. They could make a killing if they charged. For your safety doesn't cut it.
I randomly stumbled across a video this week (when looking for someone else film/TV related in Yorkshire), where a man threw himself off the top of the tower for a Kung-Fu feature film which never got made, and got blamed on the 2007/08 financial crisis.
Amazing place - the loo's are better than most offices. Thank's for a very interesting tour of some splendid Victorial municipal architecture.
Absolutely stunning building! Massive respect to the team of cleaning staff for their great care and attention... they've kept it looking beautiful. What a fascinating job that must be. Thank you Darren for taking us inside with you. Amazing video 😊❤
Wow what a place! - Thanks for sharing Darren.
I bet you felt like royalty in that bathroom loved it ❤

Amazing. Thanks for showing us. Are there any other town halls we should see?

I'm actually watching the second part before the first! Oh well!! I've got a lot of catching up to do, I missed a few lately.

I went in Blackpool Town Hall last year and that was lovely but not as grand as this place 😍
Well you've done it again. This video is fantastic, what a beautiful building. So lovingly cared for & maintained. Congrats Darren one of your best films so far.Thank you.
Many thanks!
Oh blimey! We haven't had a chance to see part one yet LOL
Very interesting Darren. Great to have a look around. Toilets very fancy. Wouldn’t get the same quality today. Thanks for showing 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Beautiful stuff Darren. As a carpenter im loving the wall panels and massive doors.
You and me both!
That's absolutely amazing, Darren! So many people must walk by that building (hell, I've even done it myself) without any clue of all that underoccupied grandeur inside - and what a loo to review! You certainly keep the best bits to the last, thank-you!
Over Part 1 and 2,an amazing vlog inside a building I've walked past a few times myself!
Fascinating video, Darren 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Another fantastic video mate. Keep up the good work 👏
Thanks mate
Your videos are always interesting to watch. 👍🏼
Glad you think so!
Nice one Darren, another interesting video 👍
Thanks 👍
The round things that look like gears in the clock tower look like what makes the chimes (carillon)

Great video Darren, beautiful buildings, especially those toilets 👍👌😀
What a stunning building! Really enjoyed the video Darren. Even the true blue loo review. Cheers!

Thank you very much!
Reminds me of Civic Hall, Really hope you can convince Leeds City Council to allow a tour.

I'll try
If anyone wonders where their council tax goes - look at their council chambers, particularly the carpet.
What? Would you rather have spit n sawdust‽
@JP_TaVeryMuch no but maybe spending a bit of council tax on public services might help.
good one daz
I have been inside City Hall. I visited the police museum and went on a tour of the old police station located within City Hall.
Another very interesting video, thank you! Looking good in your hi-viz and hard hat (as seen in your thumbnail pic) ;-)
Oh thank you!
I thought I'd subscribed before, I hadn't, I have now great video.

Great loo!
That bell tower shot made me feel dizzy 😵💫

Ah the days when civic pride was nothing to be ashamed about. Bradford's woolen industry gave it clout to build these places. Cheers matey DougT
6:07 Well you've found the Mayoral Titfer, but did you find the parrot‽
That picture was of J B Priestley.
Loved this video as I live near Bradford, but why have none of the fireplaces ever been used ? no soot, no burn marks, nothing.. they are just like Brand New. ???
Is there a restaurant?
Not anymore no
@ 18:15..."always wanted to do that"... how? you didn't even know it was there??? haha
Always wanted to bang a gong. Not that particular one lol
I goy my long service award in the civic room.
Demolishing the carpark wonder if it's going to be a 15 minute city 🙄
You can bet your life it will.
dont show everyone the Blue safe ! lol
I'm still waiting for the click tower. Why do you think they don't want people going up there. They could make a killing if they charged. For your safety doesn't cut it.
Just typical council being cautious
