Not really sure why it’s taken me so long to build a fresh Tamiya Boomerang but with the rere coming out, no more excuses I guess! Really enjoyed the build and looked forward to running the buggy all freshly built. As I said in my previous video I wanted to give it the same sort of livery/theme as my Egress Black, so here it is. Why don’t you check It out and see what you think 😉
Paints used : Tamiya ps5 black, ps47 iridescent pink/gold snd for the eindows ps38 translucent blue,

Arguably the best running video of the Tamiya Boomerang ever created. Very nice track.
Hi Ryan thanks for the high praise, much appreciated, cheers for checking the video out
I remember asking my parents one of these, when I was 10. Cost me 2 christmas and 2 birthday to get the money. I was finally able to buy one just before summer vacations in 1988. It tooks me a week to assemble (those were 0% ready to run, and I was 12), and few other days to correct the many mistakes I've made. I don't even know what I've done of that car, as I have had so many after that one. But it reminds me of so much good memories.
Looks great and goes well with the BZ 👌
Like the matching paint schemes.
Great to see the tamiya buggys running well
😇😊
Thank you the boomerang was inspired by my egress paint wise. Glad you’ve joyed it
Congrats on the new baby!
Much appreciated thank you 🙏
Andy you're Boomerang looks absolutely stunning. I love it👍👌 I was just saying to someone that I want to go with custom paint schemes , I've always done box art on Tamiya cars and now after seeing what's possible this make me want to try a custom paint scheme. Looks beautiful Andy 👌👍
I like what you did with that. Looks great!
Cheers Damien ;) its turned out not bad at all, few tweaks still to do
Congratulations on the baby.
Thank you very much , must admit things have been hectic of late ;)
Boomtastic Andy!
Cheers James ;)
Congrats on the New Addition to the Family Andy! :)
Cheers Ben thank you, good times if a little stressful 😆
Damn, that Boomerang looks absolutely awesome, I love the colour scheme, and those wheels really suit it! Watching this video brought back so many good memories for me, the original Boomerang was the first proper RC kit I ever had, way back in November 1987, and I loved it. In fact I still miss it now, I'd love another Boomerang but seeing as I'm currently unemployed it'll have to wait!
Thanks Barry, I think overall it was a win win with this one just would like to sort the shocks out for sone alternatives. I hope things pick up and you manage to get a boomerang at some point, fingers crossed. It’s always special especially when it was your first kit, it can often hold some really strong sentimental feelings and memories. Cheers for checking this one out Barry
Absolutely spectacular looking Andy. ❤
Cheers Luke that’s much appreciated, pleased so far but I’d like to change those shocks at some point ;)
Nice one! Paint and black wheels look great, and yes some different shocks would make it even better. Looks very fun to drive
awesome rc and great run
Thank you very much , hope you like how it turned out ;) pretty pleased with how it drives
Very nice paint scheme 👍
Glad you like it, at the time it made sense to match it with my Egress :)
Time and again watching these old Tamiya kits re released all I can remember is rows of them in the old beatties shops with mostly excellent box art back in the 80’s,who’d have thought many decades later they’d be causing a stir again!fair old money spinner for Tamiya that’s for sure🙂…congrats on the new baby!
Hi Tony, theres definitely something about Tamiya that invokes a strong sense of nostalgia , some of the best box art and beatties made them really appeal, certainly with me. Many thanks for checking the video out :)
Just on your comments regarding the rerelease Tamiya Super Sabre, maybe try some Tamiya lexan cleaner to take off the paint and then paint it your own way. Tamiya would have used their own paint so it's the same that's available to everybody that paints Tamiya lexan RC bodyshells. 👍👌
Looks awesome Andy! Nice place to test it out too!
Cheers Freddy, I’ve been there a few times with my cars for videos, I quite like it as an option. It looked to run well when I was driving it. Cheers for watching ;)
Great place to try them out for sure! Looks like a great place to do some jump testing too. Track looks soft? Rubber? @@andyrobinsonrc2480
Looks great Andy. 👍
Cheers James much appreciated :)
Looks great Andy 👍 can see a few more getting the same colour 👍
Cheers and thanks Richard , must admit I’m quite fond of this colour now ;) thanks for watching and have an awesome weekend racing
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 is this the new team colour now 🤔
Hey man, congrats on the baby!!
I am a late starter with tamiya kits and your videos have really helped me out!! I recently brought my first two kits for me and my son. Standard grasshopper for him and astute 2022 for me (bit lairy for a first timer lol). I have just ordered the grasshopper 2 black edition (largely thanks to your video on it) and am now considering the new re re boomerang.
My mates all had them when I was a kid so it would be awesome to have one. Love the battery storage, clever suspension (hence the astute 2022) and bumper. Originally I wanted a hotshot but the rear grounding out put me off and honestly the boomerang looks nicer in my opinion!
Anyway thanks for your videos and keep up the good work 👍🏻
Hi Mike thank you 🙏
Thanks for watching the videos, if you get a boomerang enjoy the build , I loved building mine. Hope you enjoy your RC journey with your son it’s a great hobby to enjoy together. Cheers again for your support and take care
Yeah, very nice! I do love me a Boomerang, it was my childhood buggy from back in 86, which is now a shelf princess and I have the 2017 Re Re. Yep, that suspension needs an up grade, made me wince everytime it slapped down on the tarmac 😅 loving the paint job you did, that body work pops! I find original artwork bodies a bit boring, I have 3 bodies for mine, black, red with yellow stickers combo and a blue white combo.
Looks nice
Thanks Lee glad you like it! :) cheers for watching
Paintwork looks really good. I remember this from when I was a kid but I never had one. Ended up with Kyosho. Tamiya looked better though with drivers and everything.
Man this looks really great Andy love the colour scheme of both buggy’s you went with top job some high caps would look awesome 😊😊 😃👍🥇 lovely seeing it running goes well dude. Pete
Hi Pete cheers glad you like the paint scheme , it’s a lovely colour although I think the egress slightly suits it more, that maybe with the decals being chrome effect. Hi caps are on my list so fingers crossed I’ll get them or similar for it. The bz motor seems pretty suited to the buggy as well ;)
As a long time boomerang fan that looks pretty cool Andy 😁👌👌
Many thanks 🙏 it was gonna be hit a miss if it would work but it’s not come out half bad, but sone high-caps would work better
Looks really cool Andy, loving the aerial 👍
Thank you , I tried to match up as much as I could with the egress
It looks really awesome Andy! It drove really well also. One of these days they will deliver mine... another eternal wait for this one to get here also.
Hiya Adam cheers for leaving a message hope your well? I hope you get yours soon, can’t wait to see what you do with yours , any plans in mind? It did drive well with the bz stock motor inside , so liking it so far :) looking forward to the super sabre though ! Take care
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 Hey Andy! I am good. We have had delays getting the last few kits over here but I am running behind anyways so it may be for the best! LOL! I think I am going to be boring and go with the box art for this one. I will probably toss one of the Holmes Hobbies Retro Sport motors in it or maybe a GT Tuned as I have a couple of those on hand. I am looking forward to the Super Sabre as well! I am a little sad to see nothing on the Hotshot 2 original though. I was hoping for it but expected to see it by now if they were going to do it. Kind of a shame.
Looks great Andy 😊 Looks like the BZ is a great match
Hi Adam hope your well. The BZ goes nicely in it , I do generally like that motor and use it in a few buggy’s I have I mainly put a bz in as it matched my egress build. Cheers for watching
Nice1 Andy.
Cheers glad you like it, I think I pretty much achieved what I wanted to with it
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 yeah you did. I love that colour. I very rarely do box art so nice to see a review on something different.
Congrats on your child.
Thank you Brad much appreciated
How many coats of the pink/gold did you lay down before you backed it in black?
Hi Peter I think I did about 1-2 good coats of the pink/gold , I did it the same as I did on my egress . Hope that helps
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 Thanks for replying Andy it’s very much appreciated. Also congratulations to your wife and yourself on the new baby.
Awesome video mate. Kudos for using an old FM transmitter too, the old RC cars don't look right using 2.4GHz gear and there being no antenna. Colour scheme is great as well.
Are you in the north or south of the UK? I'm down Hampshite way, just moved over from Australia, so trying to find people and places to enjoy some RC shenanigans. Peace mate.
Cheers much appreciated and welcome to
the UK. I do like the old stick type radios myself, you do need a proper arial on an
Old school buggy or car.
Im in the North West of the UK, there will be plenty of rc clubs and model shops in the south plus the big stores ship anywhere in the UK and usually pretty quickly. Take care
What did you do with the original tires on the boomerang?
The kit wheels and tyres are just in the box
