  • Welcome back to the start of our Fishlike Total Immersion propulsion series!
In this first video, Master Coach Tang will touch on switch timing and how you can utilize the kinetic chain concept (similar to that of a golf swing), and create a driving motion from the hips and core. This results in power transfer from the core to both arms.
Switch timing is the perfect synchronization of the moment when the recovery arm touches the water, the lead arm moves via hip rotation and drive both arms at the same time. This creates a forward surge sensation without the need to consciously push the stroking arm back, and is an excellent mechanism to conserve energy in your arms.

It is to anchor and spear your recovery arm at the same time so that the anchoring arm follows the body back to the next skate

I thought you weren't suppose to pull. In the past you said to anchor. In the demo to me, it looks like your saying to spear and pull back at the same time?
