For those who are wondering why he gets wonderful luck getting crits or why he spazzes out, there is a random number generator that affects crits. moving your blue arrow cursor changes the number on the generator. Thus, moving the blue arrow cursor in the correct direction enough times will give you 100% crits/specials.
Ohh! No wonder, I thought he was cheating getting 80% chance crit. I forgot about it and although it is in the game, I still find rng abuse as a cheat.
Is funny how in the 3 GBA FE games whenever you watch a TAS you are going to see the main character, the Paladin and the Pegasus Knight getting through the entire game
Paladins have 8 movement, highest in the game and can make you travel through terrain really FAST (plus you always get one as early as the prologue and has higher stats than everyone in the earlygame, this is called the Jagen archetype). Pegasus knights are even better, while their stats are horrible in the early game, they can transverse terrain better than Paladins because even forests will not slow their movement as well as mountains and walls most of your land units struggle to transverse.
I saw a Path of Radiance speedrun (not TAS, just abusing the Japanese version’s glitch where you can forge 100% crit weapons) and yeah, it used almost exclusively Ike, Titania, and Marcia for most of the game.

We have Dorcas Emblem and Karen Emblem, so definitely Seth Emblem. What if we had Incest Emblem? (Eirika and Ephraim.) Or better yet, Ugly Emblem? With Dorothy (my least favorite archer)?

Everything done in this run is possible in the game. You can glitch two characters to stand on the same square in real time, and the luck manipulation can be planned for too since the RNG is fixed. In fact, there are two real time speedruns in planning (of FE6 and FE7) that use these already.
I always think about what the tactician orders are like during these battles. "OKAY VANESSA, LOOK AT THAT SPACE OVER THERE. THINK ABOUT GOING THERE BUT DON'T DO IT. NOW THINK ABOUT 15 OTHER SPACES. NOW GO FIGHT THAT GUY IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LOCATION. TRUST ME THIS WILL WORK"

That's the thing about TASing, everything is possible in the games, assuming you had superhuman reflexes and the ability to see exactly what is stored in memory/what is upcoming in the RNG. It's just presented in a way that's both meant to inform and entertain, while still being as fast as possible.

I imagine that is to save time on the level up screen, each +1 adds about 29 frames IIRC so getting the minimal level ups is ideal strategy. Luck contributes to hit and crit evade, but you usually get enough hit from Skill and the generous weapon accuracy in FE8 compared to earlier games
The pierce triangle-attack with the vidofnir was how I beat the Demon king too, though my Wyvern lord was Tana instead. It was spicy for that to happen without RNG abuse.

I have a question about TAS runs and certain glitches. Could it be possible to abuse the Enemy Control glitch to make this run faster, and if so, could it be possible to do in a TAS with recording and all that.
Enemy Control would make certain maps a lot easier, mostly the rout maps. Unfortunately, there's only a couple of ways to trigger it in FE8 and none of them are applicable in a TAS. Same with FE6 unfortunately. It is used in the FE7 TAS, at least.
The RNG is screwed around enough to ensure: -Enemies die* -Allies live (keeping Joshua alive? :D) -Decent growth rates *Yes, that includes the last battle in the game. xO xO
I'd love to see a TAS of this game or FE7 with the animations still on I know it saves a lot of time by turning them off, but it's such a shame to not use them

In all of the Handheld FE games, There are usually 3 Pegasus Knights (some times they are sisters, other times members of the same unit). When all three Pegasus Knights come together, they trigger an Attack called Triangle Attack. Triangle Attack does 3x damage and ALWAYS hits, regardless of the Hit stat. Vanessa was a Pegasus Knight, so she can do it with Tana and Syrene.
Most games have triangle attack... fe1 is the original one with Palla, Catria and Est, in fe2 Palla, Catria and Est again, fe3, guess what? them again. In fe4, while there are no playable characters with triangle attack, there are enemies who can use them. I think in the final battle, their name is Meng, Bleng and Maybell. Though it hardly occures. In fe5 there's no characers that can operate triangle attack neither Enemy nor Allied units can. In fe6, Shanna, Thea and Juno. Fe7 has Florina, Fiora and Farina. Fe8 has Vannessa, Tana and Syrene... fe9 has... uhh i haven't played any games after fe8.
You need to use the rescue option when the rescuer's aid is higher than the rescuee's con, rescuing a unit causes you Skl and Spd to be dropped by half.

Basically, the way the game determines anything chance-based is by using a massive sequence of numbers it generates. For example, if you have a 70% hit rate, the game takes the 2 next numbers in the sequence and averages them, if that number is lower than 70, it hits. If higher, it misses. Often times, there are multiple paths a Unit can take to reach the same space. The game uses the numbers from the list to determine which arrow it's going to draw to that destination. If you do what's called the Arrow Dance you can use up numbers in the list and rig hits, crits and Level ups in your favor.
I know the luck manipulation is possible do the the RNG being fixed in GBA fire emblems, I just didn't know it was possible to glitch two characters on the same spot. Interesting, you learn something new everyday.

None of the fire emblems released in the US require the play of the one preceding to be enjoyed/understood. The closest to requiring this are FE9 and FE10 but both can be played independently and are self contained stories (albeit they share a ton of characters)
