In today’s video, we are going to look at Joseph Conrad’s acclaimed novella ‘Heart of Darkness’. At first, we will look at the summary of the novel Heart of Darkness and then we will critically analyze it by looking at the important themes of Heart of Darkness.
Heart of Darkness is a novella written by Joseph Conrad who is a Polish-English writer. It was published in 1899.
This novella is regarded as a critique of the European colonial rule in Africa. It shows the horrors of colonialism.
Initially, the novella was published in Blackwood’s Magazine in three parts.

Next we will look at the summary of the novella.
Heart of Darkness has a frame narrative. That means it tells a story within a story.
The novella begins with a group of passengers on a small ship called ‘Nellie’ floating on the River Thames.
We discuss in detail all the events of Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad.
Lastly, we look at Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad critical analysis. We look at the important themes of the novella
