The thing that rarely translates is that the pepole, and conversations, and daily life is the most similar, while the big structural things are the most diffrent.
The fact that I remember nothing from high school terrifies me. It makes me think that the rest of my life is going to be some mediocre blur that I will not remember.

we had the moment of silence every day and we were required to sit, even on 9/11 i still didn't stand for the pledge since they were two different things.
Superlatives were such a weird experience at my school, just for me personally. All of HS I had an unpopularity complex, which was mostly correct/true, but I was a theatre kid & just really leaned into the "no one likes me bc I'm different and better than them and they'll all see after high school" you know? anyway. senior year I was nominated for Homecoming queen? And for the "Most artistic" superlative? I didn't win either but you only get nominated if a solid number of people in your grade think of you and write your name down. It was really surprising bc I had a lot of friends but really only 3 in my grade, so idk who else thought to nominate me. It was also weird bc I did not come in last place for either "award". HS is weird af, and I would never go back, but that wasn't the worst way to end my time there.
