Almost 3 years ago I got the chance to meet Taylor Swift by invitation and looking back I’m so glad I was able to meet her in that way, in a controlled setting, because if not it would have definitely led to a big blubbery mess of a conversation! She was so sweet and definitely listened so closely. I’m sure she is used to hearing the same things over and over but despite that she made me feel welcomed in the time we had together.

I met the entirety of The 1975 before one of their concerts when I was in seventh grade. It was a meet and greet type situation but the security running it was EXTREMELY strict. Like, you were not allowed to try and even speak to them or you were yelled at. I watched one girl get yelled at for stopping to tie her shoe as she walked out. The band themselves seemed like they had just woken up from a nap, but they were very kind. Either way I got a picture out of it and can proudly say that I have had physical contact with Matty Healy and Adam Hann. Also high fived Taylor Swift in second grade and have met several smaller bands at shows.

I met BTS before they blew up at a concert just like this (a really small one that was pretty intimate) and they seemed really tired and out of it and like they didn’t want to be there. And while I totally get it (they’re human) it did the same to me. Something clicked. I met a few members of hippocampus at a brunch place in Savannah Georgia my orientation and move in day! They were waiting for a table and we were already seated so I just told them I really liked their music and thought it was funny to see them in Savannah instead of my hometown as we’re from the same area. As a fellow concert going girlie, I was literally screaming and doing a happy dance with you. It's the equivalent of me getting to see Sum41 w like 25 people within the Muchmusic environment when I was like 16. They literally cut the line to one person behind me. I really want to see concerts in New York at some point but I need a passport. (Am up in Canada, but it's like a short drive.) I think it was best that you didn’t stay to meet Julian. Imagine if you were in his shoes, and had just played a whole show and then attended a vapid after party with people fawning all over you, and then the last thing of your night was a girl giving you a very heavy and real story about how much you mean to her. You probably wouldn’t have the emotional energy left to give an appropriate reaction to something like that…it’s just human. We all get tired, and we fail sometimes. Girl, you're an amazing storyteller. Also, your fangirling always cracks me up, but at the same time I totally get it, I feel the same way about Alex Turner (among others 😂). I never met any celeb tho, and maybe that's a good thing, coz I wouldn't even know what to tell them, and probably would make a fool out of myself and then feel like 💩 Still, I'm extremely jealous of other people meeting my idols, and even more of the people who get to work with them (like interviewers or photographers), man, it's hard to be a fangirl 🙄 😂
I met the entirety of The 1975 before one of their concerts when I was in seventh grade. It was a meet and greet type situation but the security running it was EXTREMELY strict. Like, you were not allowed to try and even speak to them or you were yelled at. I watched one girl get yelled at for stopping to tie her shoe as she walked out. The band themselves seemed like they had just woken up from a nap, but they were very kind. Either way I got a picture out of it and can proudly say that I have had physical contact with Matty Healy and Adam Hann. Also high fived Taylor Swift in second grade and have met several smaller bands at shows.

Ahhh I can relate to this so much! I met BTS before they blew up at a concert just like this (a really small one that was pretty intimate) and they seemed really tired and out of it and like they didn’t want to be there. And while I totally get it (they’re human) it did the same to me. Something clicked. After them I worked at concerts behind the scenes for other kpop groups and acts and..yeah I can’t see them the same. It definitely ruins something. I would agree, don’t meet your idols kids🤧

After hearing your concert and after-party-going horror story, I can highly recommend someone whose concert and meet-n-greet you should go to for a completely different experience - classical concert pianist Tiffany Poon. Not only do her audiences rave about her live performances, but those who stay for the meet-n-greet report wonderful things about how graciously she engages with her fans in person.

Note to the crowd…If you ever get blocked by a bouncer spit throw away from your favorite celebrities after thinking you had purchased a meet and greet with them (so close and yet so far JULIAN) I highly recommend Nicole and Ameena as commiseration buddies!!

I met a few members of hippocampus at a brunch place in Savannah Georgia my orientation and move in day! They were waiting for a table and we were already seated so I just told them I really liked their music and thought it was funny to see them in Savannah instead of my hometown as we’re from the same area. They were super nice and actually asked me about myself and my studies. I didn’t ask for a picture bc I didn’t want to make the interaction seem like a hassle or anything. But it was really lovely and I’m glad I kept it simple!

As a fellow concert going girlie, I was literally screaming and doing a happy dance with you. It's the equivalent of me getting to see Sum41 w like 25 people within the Muchmusic environment when I was like 16. They literally cut the line to one person behind me.
I really want to see concerts in New York at some point but I need a passport. (Am up in Canada, but it's like a short drive.) Also your boyfriend is a sweetheart and totally gets your Julian Casablancas obsession. I'm sad I won't ever get to go to CBGBs and recreate the Ramones photo.
Fun fact - I used to write music reviews and a band actually asked if I'd go on the road with them. The magazine I wrote for was going to pay my way and had no idea I was 16 at the time. My mom gave me a hard NO and ruined my Almost Famous dreams. (The band was literally the most pg band ever and like hardly drank.)

I think it was best that you didn’t stay to meet Julian. Imagine if you were in his shoes, and had just played a whole show and then attended a vapid after party with people fawning all over you, and then the last thing of your night was a girl giving you a very heavy and real story about how much you mean to her. You probably wouldn’t have the emotional energy left to give an appropriate reaction to something like that…it’s just human. We all get tired, and we fail sometimes. I’m sure you know that it can become overwhelming to receive so much attention and adoration, and in person it’s even harder to handle.

I’ve had similar experiences where you wait for a celebrity and you get so bored waiting you leave and everyone else meets them. I tell myself if was meant to be it would have happened
i love him very very much and i've come close to meeting him a few times myself, but now looking back at it i feel the same way, i'm so glad it never worked out haha. he's just a very passive person and i would have been left absolutely *devastated* lolol. nick on the other hand, sweetest person ever, he was so fun to talk to (and will talk about his wife for hours if able lolol)
