I've deleted the beta ages ago but as I recall.. the bad futures in them were a bit more difficult than the finals.(from the work done at that point (up to stage 4) At some point they decided to wussify them or something... other things cut were actual animated cutscenes that were intended to tell the story between stages... (not in this or any beta)
That's because the entire soundtrack in this beta, save for the title screen music, plays from start to finish in-game, and it never switches music between levels and zones.
Actually, Rex, more evidence has been found pointing to the missing second zone being CD's equivalent to S1's Marble Zone. Every S1 zone has a CD equivalent IN ORDER (GHZ=PPZ, SYZ=CCZ, LZ=TTZ, SLZ=SSZ, and SBZ=MMZ); notice how Marble is "conveniently" skipped (and in exactly the same place our missing level should be, no less). Furthermore, the ending scene could also bears a resemblance to stone ruins, just like... you guessed it... Marble Zone.
Really interesting video. I really loved this game. Even though you don't have Super/Hyper Sonic, its still a huge game with lots to explore. Love the soundtrack too. I got the Gems Collection for PS2 and I was really disappointed with the music, as the MegaCD version in NZ had the Japanese soundtrack. This may sound lame, but I like to listen to the soundtrack.... Hehehe
Why is everyone commenting he sucks? We're all bad at something. He just felt like sharing something that people would like, not to hear rude comments and shit.
@tj2kou You mean ISO. The main music of the game is on the root of the CD where the ISO is there are 7 PCM files with the PAST timezone's OST. those you rip using a Hex Editor.
I sometimes like to flip this on just to listen to the background music; I definitely like it, and it was probably the only part of Sonic CD I actually enjoyed; to me, the rest of the game was this obstructing and obnoxious level layout, so I never saw how it was good.
The 2-1-A through 2-3-D may have been Relic Ruins or Desert Dazzle. It’s just a hunch I have. 1- Palmtree Panic 3- Collision Chaos 4- Tidal Tempest 5- Quartz Quadrant 6- Wacky Workbench 7- Stardust Speedway 8- Metallic Madness A- Present B- Past C- Good Future D- Bad Future 1- Act 1 2- Act 2 3- Act 3 (Boss)
Cyber city...OH THATS THE CONCEPT ART FOR S2 METROPOLIS!*calm down buddy* The Sonic 2 CD thing. Wasn't that the one that had Casino Night's and S1's Special Stage's love child as a special stage?
Now, whether it was to be called "Cyber City" or not, I don't know (though, considering the zone's precedent, it seems unlikely). Nevertheless, there's a very good chance that the missing second Zone wasn't CD's take on Genocide City and CERTAINLY not Dust Hill. Furthermore, nothing can be drawn from the loading screen, considering that zones like Collision Chaos and Wacky Workbench only make implied appearances at best, meaning that its interpretation of the Little Planet is largely inaccurate.
Did Sonic CD come out before or after Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles? What I don't get is if you look at Sonic on Sonic 1, he looks like that on Sonic CD, but on Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles, he's a darker blue and there is more detail and longer spikes and stuff.
The US version of Sonic CD has a completely different soundtrack than this Beta and the Japanese and European versions. The 920 beta has this same music, it's the US version with the original soundtrack.
Can someone tell me what that small audio modulating thing is at the bottom right? it shows up everytime there's a sound effect in-game, and Iv seen it in other places.
I don't see many differences from the final version except that there are different flowers, unfinished levels, and more bugs. All of those tile sets are in the final version of the game. You need to go to the "good future" to see them by breaking the time thingy in the past. Then, when you go to the future, the tile set will be the ones you showed here instead of the regular brown grungy ones.
The American PC version was Sega CD perfect, except for the story. They changed it to where it has to do with princess Sally instead of Amy, screwing it up from both ends. heres how: Sally wasn't pink, and Amy is an important part of the comedy for Sonic Adventure
Oh, well its extremely rare to see on the internet these days.. :P I only found it once in the past few weeks and it was on a torrent site.. The hack came out like 5 years ago.. :P
6:23 such a beautiful song intro..sorry if I sound like a dipshit..I'm more familiar with the US version lol altho I have both soundtracks..that one is included ??
"Seemed like Quartz Quadrant Past was gonna be similar to Hidden Palace in a way." How? Hidden Palace was an unfinished level, that was scrapped from the game before final release.
I dont think they were gonna be together. The time travel thing is what linked them together (that and the bullshit "Desert Zone") I'll list the TT possibilities. NGHZ[p]EHZ MZ[f]WZ HPZ[p]OOZ GCZ[f]CPZ DZ(unmade)[p]MCZ
Wow. If they decided to FINALLY pick this game back up I would have no objections. Just update a few things. As long as it is NOT for the Wii...DS is fine, but Wii gets too many "good games." The music is actually better then the current Sonic musics(USA only).

lol, i always loved how robotnik glitches ahead of you when you go to hit him at the end of tidal tempest.
Wow, to think there was a point where the first boss could actually counter you in some form...
I love the US version soundtrack, in speaking of soundtracks I used to OWN the soundtrack to this game!! long story short, Sonic CD is a master piece.
2007 + 480p = Perfection
I sort of like the color scheme in the past wacky workbench in this prototype :U
That's because the entire soundtrack in this beta, save for the title screen music, plays from start to finish in-game, and it never switches music between levels and zones.
As of today with the 12/02/1992 prototype, not anymore!

The camera was having some um. Issues. :-) It's funny to see. Especially with the camera not following Sonic at first at the start of the CC boss.
That's because it's a remix. That's the beauty of the Jp soundtrack.
gotta love that Gens-Surreal*
7:43
Gotta love them false walls, eh?
FunFact: The Good Future Soundtrack Wasnt Made At This Point, At The Time There Was Only The Present And Bad Future Soundtrack.
The musics pretty damn awesome
Really interesting video. I really loved this game. Even though you don't have Super/Hyper Sonic, its still a huge game with lots to explore.

@MyceHole japanese version is called CD sonic, and as a difference with sonic 2 , this game was made in japan alone.
the flowers are because sonic is trying to save the nature of the planet, reseeding it all and stuff
that's why it said he did a good future
@tj2kou You mean ISO.
The main music of the game is on the root of the CD where the ISO is there are 7 PCM files with the PAST timezone's OST. those you rip using a Hex Editor.
I feel the same as you buddy!
The second track reminds me of the past in stardust speedway.
I sometimes like to flip this on just to listen to the background music; I definitely like it, and it was probably the only part of Sonic CD I actually enjoyed; to me, the rest of the game was this obstructing and obnoxious level layout, so I never saw how it was good.

1- Palmtree Panic
3- Collision Chaos
4- Tidal Tempest
5- Quartz Quadrant
6- Wacky Workbench
7- Stardust Speedway
8- Metallic Madness
A- Present
B- Past
C- Good Future
D- Bad Future
1- Act 1
2- Act 2
3- Act 3 (Boss)
Or even Mercury Mine
The SSZ good future palette looks like the Bad Future. I see why they changed it.
Hang on. The jump sound is different!? I've just noticed that now!? What the hell.
@ballossx It's Stardust Speedway- Bad Future(JP/EU).
Cyber city...OH THATS THE CONCEPT ART FOR S2 METROPOLIS!*calm down buddy*
The Sonic 2 CD thing. Wasn't that the one that had Casino Night's and S1's Special Stage's love child as a special stage?
On the final version is unfinished because there another new zone named desert dazzle and the new final fever
i like the sound when sonic jumps is better than the final they should of kept it
Its kinda funny how music tracks play at random
HAHAHA i laughed at the badnik room in MM act 3.
woh stardust speedway looks better in the prototype than in the actual game!
Now, whether it was to be called "Cyber City" or not, I don't know (though, considering the zone's precedent, it seems unlikely). Still more complete than Sonic '06.
awesum :P

Its very nice, I really want to dl this game
The Japanese PS2 Sonic Gems version does have the Japanese soundtrack, but you have to set your PS2 browser to Japanese language.
yeah...i know! i have the imported version of this game and the soundtrack rocks!
Can someone tell me what that small audio modulating thing is at the bottom right?
it shows up everytime there's a sound effect in-game, and Iv seen it in other places.
that music isnt IN GAME you can tell by the bars in the lower corner that rse every time theres sound.
I just got confused when I read that for the first time.
The music seems better anyway! 90's ravey stuff just how sonic should be
"Quartz Quadrant Past was gonna be similar to Hidden Palace in a way."
What do you mean? It is exactly the same!
i think all sonic betas are cool especially the sonic 2 one
Yeah, I agree completely. But in the PC version, they didn´t make the same music. Too bad.
stardust speedway zone
I don't see many differences from the final version except that there are different flowers, unfinished levels, and more bugs. All of those tile sets are in the final version of the game. Not the earliest, the earliest prototype was from December the 2nd 1992, it only had 2 playable stages, which they are palmtree panic act 1 & act 2
Why the heck is Tidal Tempest Good Future's water piss yellow?
Actually, you have to press start on the second controller to get level select. Then, you press 2P start again in-game to activate Debug.
I only found it once in the past few weeks and it was on a torrent site..
The hack came out like 5 years ago.. :P
Then you should already have them. The tracks during that section are Metallic Madness - Present (Jap), and Special Stage (Jap).
how do i unlock level select?
Could someone specifically tell me from the name and region of the track that plays from 04:24 to 06:23. Please help me :(
BAd Future music in good future? LOLWUT?
Wasn't there samples from the songs' files
where do i get the song at 4:30???
If I downloaded it and play it, why there´s no music?
This music is better than the original Sonic Cd.
6:23 such a beautiful song intro..sorry if I sound like a dipshit..I'm more familiar with the US version lol altho I have both soundtracks..that one is included ??
so was the music that was playing in the video in sonic CD?
Teleportaion yeah! SHA-BA-DA-BOO-YEAH!
It's not fake. It's just that the music you hear (from the Japanese version) in the video was added in afterwards.
Is it just me or was it a lot easier to get Sonic up to his top speed in the prototype?
bad future in present LOL
"Seemed like Quartz Quadrant Past was gonna be similar to Hidden Palace in a way."
How? Hidden Palace was an unfinished level, that was scrapped from the game before final release.
I'm sorry, whenever I did this, no music would be heard.
I dont think they were gonna be together. The time travel thing is what linked them together (that and the bullshit "Desert Zone")
I'll list the TT possibilities.
NGHZ[p]EHZ
MZ[f]WZ
HPZ[p]OOZ
GCZ[f]CPZ
DZ(unmade)[p]MCZ
Okay, you played music over it
i wish they wouldve put palm tree panics zone 3 music in the first level. of course, im not saying the music sucks or anything
nvm, it is the special stage from sonic cd (jap/eu) :D
What's the song at 3:04?
at 05:50 he was in debug mode!
Hey where i can download this beta??
*angel
And I managed to get there in regular mode.
I just haven't been able to find it in a while. ^-^;; jajajaja*killed*
@dsdface it wasnt rated E it was rated K-A (kids to adults). Thats how the 90's were
this is the protype version
Wow, the jump noise sounds bored. XD
BTW, did you by any chance download this game at hidden palace or dark water? they are websites.
There is no BETA 409.
That was a Game hack of 510 to be made as a beta Hoax. :P
Wow. If they decided to FINALLY pick this game back up I would have no objections. Just update a few things. As long as it is NOT for the Wii...DS is fine, but Wii gets too many "good games." The music is actually better then the current Sonic musics(USA only).
Just to say, Sonic Team did not make this game! It was oly published buy it
How do you make it run???
How did you get level select
When do you save Amy?
2007...
where did you download this version from?
ugghh that prototype sound of the time warp sounds annoying
HOW THE HELL DID U GET THE MUSIC TO WORK?! I've tried Kega and Gens with the v2.00 bios and no music! I can play it but no music...
Teu md.emu
Try md.emu
i dont see no Metal Sonic
There's no "SSZ".
What is with Japanese songs and believing yourself, looking in your heart and friends?
I know the normal iso doesn't have Music, but i find the musics in a hoax (409 hoax is a hacked version of the beta),i can give to you the music
aw no hot chick for sonic at end
BELIEVE IN YO SELF NIGGA
Coloca no horpellning
I'd imagine he added it in.
