i was a skier myself, but recently i started to ride a horse almost everyday... damn it is perfect, not comparable to anything! you feel the character, the life and it feels your character too, it is like a perfect dancing duo, but with the warrior spirit!
Also equestrian is ranked the 8th most dangerous sport in the world football lacrosse baseball none of the common traditional sports are even ranked so...
I did do Horse Riding before and have fallen off but only while the Horse was trotting, I can imagine what it be like while galloping and jumping over the poles. I hate people who think this is nothing. When I did fall off I landed on my back on a rock, didn't feel any pain though. I was afraid to get back on cause it was my first time falling off a Horse but the owner couraged me back on and I did. Why?. I love Horses more then anything.
i got tears in my eyes by seeing this video!! It is super amazing and the music is also very nice and full of epic..... I am also a horse rider and this really means to me I love horses they are my life!!
Let me just say something to all of you who think equestrian isn't a sport... say like I come up to you and say what sport do you play you say oh I play football ( Im not saying football isn't a sport just giving an example) and I say thats not a sport its just a bunch of guys running around in tights trying to catch a ball and knocking each other over! What I am saying is what meets the eye what I observe of it I may of never once played football but in that example I was only going by what meets the eye. See when everybody sees equestrian they see people who "just sit there" or they see "the horse doing all the work" really its nothing like that you are seeing what meets the eye not what is true. answer this if you weighed over half a ton and you had someone who was sitting on you that was only about 100 lbs would you move NO! you would stand there you wouldn't move forward if someone wasn't truly asking you to go forward. Now your probably thinking ok well you don't sit there but you don't use alot of leg only a little. This brings me back to the horse is over half a ton you are nothing compared to the horse; the same animal who has a mind of its own and IS NOT going to move with you just politely or quietly asking it to move you have to use your leg ALOT of it too! It also takes balance and when is say balance I mean like walking across a tight rope kind of balance how are you going to stay on a fast moving object that is jerking you around every which way if your all over the place because your defiantly not going to stay on for long. The last thing and the most important thing is trust horses have a mind of their own and if they don't want you on them their is no stopping them. Every time you ride you put your life into the hands that is completely unpredictable that has no clue that when you fall off you have a very likely chance of dying and that takes unbelievable trust and no other sport, no other team will ever be able to compare to the unbelievable bond and trust between a rider and their horse.
Truer words have never been spoken. Also, we (especially equitation riders) work very hard not only just to be able to do what we do, to to make it look easy!! Other sports, they do what they do well, pretty darned well, but they stop when they can do it well. If you look at them you can usually see the difficulty, we don't do that, we do extra work just to make it look easy.
People nowadays forget that we actually sit on a wild animal. Also they only see this horses on some attractions or walk riding hours and they think this is riding and they think they can ride. Well- let me tell you the shortest equestrian joke- I can ride! Because in horse riding you can always get Better. This people out there just dont see this. They see the horses walking in circles and literally just sit there and think they can ride. PFFFFT! If someone really tries To ride he/she should get a real riding lesson. Feel the frustration that the horse acts on its own and you cant just sit there. Feeling, that everything hurts after first real lessons. Getting the horse to trust you. Training and balancing without falling down even if the horse is bucking. After they had real lessons for about one year, then lets See what they say
Its not a sport, its an Art, a life style, a beautiful show of how incredible the bond is between the horse and the rider. People say 'the horse does all the work'. NOT TRUE. The riders work SO hard to keep the horse in it's place, to make the right move, to look even MORE amazing than it already is........
best come backs if some one says its easy: oh yeah its just like football! except the ball is a 1200 pound animal with a mind of its own ,or yep its just like skiing! the mountain does all the work! or, haha mabye i should come play football after riding to cool down, riding is hard work!
"it's not a sport, you don't do any work the horse does everything" man i get annoyed when people say that stuff. Only an equestrian can understand the partnership of a horse and rider. yes the horse deserves a ton of credit but the rider works hard too. ridding isn't a one way street it's a partnership. The horse depends on the rider as much as the rider does the horse. they work with and rely on each other. Not everyone can see the silent communication between a horse and rider.
they trust in each other and both work hard to accomplish great goals. It's a sport that take courage and endurance from both the rider and the horse. The partnership it creates is amazing. we trust our lives in their reigns and they trust their lives in our grasp. Neither can succeed without the other. The horse does work hard but so does the rider. neither could do anything without the other. there's far more to it than "sitting on a horse"
When I ride, every part of my body must be balanced. I must hold a position in the saddle without wavering, I must constantly move with my horse's movement, rise up and down, support him with my legs. I must be sensitive, yet strong and firm. If I am out of balance for even a moment, it could mean the end for the both of us. I am constantly working, constantly moving, always thinking, planning ahead. The horse is the raw power, but I am the one who refines it. And that is a difficult task.
! ITS MY LIFE ! the hours of training, the falling to the ground but you have to remember to get back up, it is how you will survive and "you try sitting on a animal that could kill you IN A SECOND ".you have to so them respect and they will so you respect
you can actually. look it up. And helmets don't always stop you from getting head injuries. A friend of mine fell off her horse and got her foot stuck in the stirrup, the horse took off over several jumps slamming her head into them. she was knocked out and woke up in the hospital with a severe concision and ended up losing 3 years of memory. SHE wore a helmet.
you're absolutely right because even though you do research you can't do the same with your horse unless you try it and you're not afraid of them, that's how I was able to trust my horse enough to crawl under him and lay there without holding him
@Akanewe Horses like to do this. If they didn't they wouldn't. They are a lot stronger than us so they could easily refuse to do something if they didn't want to. And if they were afraid if getting hurt they would hurt us first. I have learned this from personal experience with my old pony.
My friend told me she could everything I do with my horse. I told her that in riding your horse you put you life in danger. It isn't just sitting and holding reins, its trusting an animal 10x your size and having control over it. When I told that it takes courage to know you might fall when showing and still get back up she didn't believe me so I showed her some videos like this one. Then told her to race around a barrel, dance with a flow of beauty, soar as if you have wings and race as if you
i love this! i'm been trying to make a video with these rolex comp clips can you please tell me the link of where you got them? but very of telling the true meaning of equestrian :)
I understand EXACTLY how you feel. tp be honest I've only been riding about a year and a half but it's already what I love to do. You try to explain it but they just don't understand. They don't really understand what it's like to trust something so unpredictable, They don't understand how alive it makes you feel, how there's an emotional bond with something that's more than just a ball. They don't get it..
last friday at my jumping lesson my horse (or the horse I was riding) kept stoping at a jump, I eventually fell off. But I got right up again :D I have seen many riders at my riding school just not getting up after falling of, even when troting, so this made me proud, and suddenly I remembered why this sport stands out. Yes..the point of this comment, I guess is the same as this video. We Equestrians have something special :D
you are so right when i get thrown of my cross country horse comet i dont know how to discribe it i love horses and i always will btw keep up these vids there awsum
horses are giving that's why most of the time they don't fight back so they can they just don't know they can so they just put up with it if they didn't think that way we wouldn't be able to control them
riding is not a hobby, not a passion, and not an activity it is a sport, a sport that takes skill and perfection. it is not easy one bite. you must connect and come as one with the creature beneath you. it takes years to master one horse but us equestrians know what it takes.
It's crazy dangerous. I've been stepped on, I've been kicked in the face. My worst fall, the horse stepped on me. For 3 days I could barely move and it took 3 months for all of my pain to be gone. I fell into a fence and could do next to nothing with my right side for a few days. I've had a concussion that caused memory loss. We just learn to be tough. My last fall I fell on a jump, which cut my leg. I got right back on, and my saddle's got the bloodstain to prove it.
this is so good its amazing how many people think riding is easy but those people are so wrong id like too see them ride with the perfect posistion and ride a 4star xc course its all bluff!
The wording in here like, "have you ever been thrown off at incredible speeds?" I guy in my class asked be why do i ride so much? I told him every thing in this video.. =D
Equestrian is a real team sport, your working with an animal that is mostly more than twice your size, struggling on one thing forever to get it perfect, trusting in your horse just as your horse trusts you!!.
riding takes more skill, determination, heart, strength, mind, and patience then any other sport that I know of.This video is 100% true. and people laugh when I say it is a sport. Well, now they agree with me... >:) lol.Its not only a sport, its my life.
@xXsmileychichXx I don't like whips, bits, or stalls but other than that your ridding is superb and you don't really force the horse to stop which is good and the jumping, I think, depends on the horse some horses like jumping but most horses, all mustangs, don't like it because in the wild they could break a leg while jumping so they don't do it naturally again some horses do like jumping which is perfect if you want a jumping horse
I never said that anything was cruel and I am an equestrain! I've been riding since I was born. Yeah sure, we have some control over these animals but they're still wild and unpredictable. You never know when they could spook or bolt or try and get what they want.
Where did you get those clips? They are great. and riding is the only sport in the world where woman and men compete equally in the Olympics. Or anywhere for that matter. It is the sport where girls and boys can be on the same team. I think that is awesome!
Yes, the horse does the jump part. But it's not just fun and games for the rider. It takes years to build up correct use of rein and leg aids, and even more learning to correctly set a horse up at a jump. I am NOT at all giving the rider all the credit, the horses ARE amazing, HOWEVER the rider does a heck of a lot too. It's the conbination that makes this sport work. Me:YOU HAVE 5 SECONDS TO RUN!
i was a skier myself, but recently i started to ride a horse almost everyday... damn it is perfect, not comparable to anything! you feel the character, the life and it feels your character too, it is like a perfect dancing duo, but with the warrior spirit!
i had to favorite this..i love it! haha :)
Also equestrian is ranked the 8th most dangerous sport in the world football lacrosse baseball none of the common traditional sports are even ranked so...
''And after all that practise, it still doesn't guarantee that you won't mess up.''
Awesome video, it literally gave me goosebumps :)
This video gave me the chills..... i could stay and watch it all day long!
equestrian is a way of living, a passion... each stride is a beat of our heart
I did do Horse Riding before and have fallen off but only while the Horse was trotting, I can imagine what it be like while galloping and jumping over the poles. I hate people who think this is nothing. When I did fall off I landed on my back on a rock, didn't feel any pain though. I am also a horse rider and this really means to me I love horses they are my life!!
Love the horse at 2:05! It has so muc power, its amazing!
I love eventing!! Those horses are so brave and athletic, gotta love them!

That was really legit! Thankyou so much!
The wording in here like, "have you ever been thrown off at incredible speeds?" I guy in my class asked be why do i ride so much? I told him every thing in this video.. =D

@halfwolf266 Exactly. Ballet and Horse riding are the only sports in the world that work EVERY bone and muscle in your body~!
love this!!!!!
wow what is the song called?
What name of this music?
@alameda
I know for a fact my new pony loves to jump. He loves to run at the jumps and fly over them. I don't force him to
a foot baller falls on the ground in pain when someone kicks his shin. we get trown of at high speeds and get up and back on as soon as we can.
Where do you go to find your clips?
How and where did you get the clips?
I get so ticked off when people tell me its not a sport.
It's so right!
which UA-cam users do you get these clips from? I know of feichannel, postandrailcreative, imovix, and editecslomo747, but who else is there?
Totally nice ;)
I believe it's love.
all is true. Work: till it hurts Practice: until it is perfect. Ride: like you have never riden before. and, ride: like you mean it
whos th rider at 1:06 ?
Yes, the horse does the jump part. But it's not just fun and games for the rider.
