In A RUN FOR YOUR MONEY (1949), David "Dai Number 9" Jones (Donald Houston) and Thomas "Twm" Jones (Meredith Edwards) are Welsh coal-miners who win £200 in a contest and pay their first visit to London in order to claim their prize. In this scene, David and Thomas dine at an establishment that is not unlike an Automat (anyone familiar with this type of establishment in London? If so, share what you know of it, please) and meet a girl who's planning to get her hands on their newly won bounty. Enjoyed watching this clip. Thank you for sharing ! I had no idea the British had "automat" type restaurants. But now did they keep the hot dishes hot ? I suppose the compartments they were in were metal lined. Very interesting !! CHEERS !! 🙂

It made be what was called a British Restaurant. They were set up by the government during wartime!
