Thank you for this demo! I have an old Peavey Patriot bass with just one super ferrite pickup. I love how that one sounds, but I’ve never been able to put my hands on an old Foundation with the two pickups. I’d love to scoop one up while they’re still affordable.
Great video! I just picked up a 93 foundation that was in terrible shape. Super ferrites are still working but the pots are beyond saving. What type of .47uf cap did you use? The dub sound is awesome and ideal for my band. Thanks!
I started my Peavey journey with a 82 T-20 that I found at a pawnshop in Jackson…then I found out about the Foundation. Picked up a 93 from a guy off of FB marketplace for $150. Question is why are they so undervalued? Anyway great video. 🤘🏾
I don't know, but I am personally enjoying the super high quality for a super low price. The foundation with the super ferrites is my favorite jazz bass style tone, it's so fat and clanky!
These have always been a great option. The earliest ones unfortunately use the old peavey truss rod that needs the special wrench. After having owned perhaps 100 of these, Dyna Basses, Forum, and Fury basses, I can say the later models are even better (but don't look as cool). They tend to have fewer quirks and oddball issues, however- the last of the USA model versions of these did not have the bi-laminated neck. The bi-laminated neck was a Peavey feature from the earliest days and was later licensed to G&L to use. It's a better neck and you can identify it by the two pieces used to make the neck.

When cleaned up, they are absolute keepers!
I usually use mojotone yellow caps, or paper in oil for more retro sounds, but tbh any type works!

Still have my 1985 Peavey, bought it brand new as a teenager.
I have a '91 Peavey Foundation with Rotosound flats and love it. What strings are you using? Thank you.
Currently, D'Addario XL balanced tensions, my personal favorites!

They're still out there for under $400 if you keep an eye out!

I think mine has the weird truss rod- but I love the neck on this one!
