  • Parkinson’s disease is the fastest growing neurological condition for which there is no cure. A team of scientists and physicians at McLean Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital reports in the New England Journal of Medicine a novel neurosurgical technique in which a patient with Parkinson’s underwent transplantation into the brain of dopamine progenitor cells derived from his own skin cells to treat his disease. The patient reported improved motor function in daily life and experienced no adverse effects.
