It's Korean ladies habbit ... covering mouth when laughing. It's a very common habbit actually, especially for those raised/grew up in SK. And it's not considered as bad habit there, it's being polite. This habbit is actually not restricted to SK as matter of fact, it's common across East Asia, Chinese and Japanese too. Google "korean women covering mouth when laughing" ... if you don't believe me. And no, I don't find it irritating ... because it's quite common (polite) habbit/behaviour.
