- Sorry to everyone for revisiting this monstrosity of a season, but to close out the Rigged series on Drag Race Down Under, we're going to look at how the season would have shaked out if it weren't rigged by production!
With such a riggory-heavy season, we have a lot to discuss. So we'll look at each episode of Drag Race Down Under and talk about what moments and decisions were rigged, and what should have happened if RuPaul and the producers let the season happen organically. The results are definitely much different, and I think a lot of you will be happy to see the result!

The moment that Karen and Art were saved in the “talent” show episode when they quite literally made a single balloon animal and ate food was undeniably the final nail in the coffin for this season especially when Kita and Elektra were put in the bottom for no legitimate reason.
It took that long?

@@crunchii891 I mean, Jojo was rightly in the bottom and Elektra did slay him. Now with Coco, Karen should have been in the bottom in Ep 3 but I still didn't think it as targeted but more like an unfortunate coincidence. Now the week after when they brought Art back . . .
I feel like the only thing I enjoyed about the season was watching the “Drag race down under rigged” videos

I would have been fine with any of the Kiwi Queens but I was thrilled with Kita Mean winning. It was the only saving grace for that awful end of a season.
In my Valentina fantasy I imagine that this is how it was judged and the main judge is Courtney Act and that they did a Down Under Rusical 😍🖐
Honestly it still kinda baffles me that they didn’t do a Kylie Minogue rusical.

Im so glad we all agree Anita was supposed to be a finalist. Her elimination marked the complete downfall of the season.
Honestly?? I thought it was almost transparently Anita’s season for the first three episodes. Why they kneecapped her so early on I have no clue.

Honestly, this season is proof of what happens when drag race rigs itself into a corner. They left themselves with no options for a winner but Kita.

Good! Maybe they will learn and stop relying on „Big names”. But then again, they sent home Aja, Brita, Mayhem etc early so… why not here 🤷♂️

Considering Kita made a snarky little remark about Anita living in her shadow in the first episode, it would have been SO SATISFYING to see Miss Wigl'it take home the crown in the last episode.

Anita, Kita and Elektra are so talented and interesting. They really made this season worth the effort of continue viewing beside the rigga morris. I think lots of drag race fans want to know more about the three.

I wish Ru would’ve made scarlet think she wasn’t gonna kick her off, let her “apologize” and then say “oh yeah one more thing. Get off the stage. Here at rupauls drag race we DO NOT tolerate racism” and it’ll play the dramatic sound and everyone shocked that would’ve been GREAT TV.

you should've gone with your gut and put scarlet in the bottom instead of etcetera for the commercials, not only did etcetera actually do better, but imagine the GLORY of Scarlet getting called out for her racism and then getting MURDERED by Maxi in the lip sync!

And a lot of people who say this only say it because they wanted scarlet gone and let there bias impact how they enjoyed the actual performances.
@@kolakokaa Yes, I know likes don’t matter irl, it’s just to show that I wasn’t the only one who thought that. Etcetera had a commercial that I personally thought was funny and Scarlet had a commercial that I personally thought had some questionable and overly mean humor. Even if I think Scarlet should’ve never been casted, I can acknowledge challenges she does well like the design challenge or the talent show, but this was not one of those challenges. I’m not delusional, I just have an opinion different than yours, and that’s ok.

Unpopular opinion: I think Etcetera and Elektra would be a double save like Tayce vs Ellie
That's what production would do for shock value, but in this scenario (just like with Ellie) Etcetera had no wins and it would serve no purpose to save her if she had no realistic chance of being crowned. So to me it makes a lot more sense not to have a double save here, since the idea is to be objective and avoid all the shenanigans of production.

Etcetera’s commercial was good, fight me, Scarlet’s commercial was rude and distasteful so she should’ve been in the bottom anyways

Etcetera did make me laugh once in her commercial, which is better than most of the others. I can’t give anyone shit for being distasteful except the producers. Just a weird, not good challenge.

EDIT: Yup, all Kiwi queens in the top 3 and Anita winning definitely fits with my French vanilla fantasy.
They literally showed Karen’s introduction in snatch game and one little bit of her commenting on someone else’s answer and that was it 💀
And she didn’t sound like Dolly. Nothing but the look gave me Dolly. Since she received a Golden Ticket from production, I have to assume the rest of her Snatch Game wasn’t better.

In any case, at least Kylie Sonique Love did Dolly justice on AS6.

How art and Karen weren't in the bottom two for that talent show is beyond me
usually I think fans are way too passionate about a reality tv show and past seasons saying every season is rigged, but this season was without a doubt rigged to Ru's liking. I wish Ru and producers would just let the season play out naturally with no interference as it should be. Maybe it was like that in season 1 of Drag Race US, but everything after is up in the air.
I say up to season 6. Past that it’s rigged
Emani Blue Up to season 2 at best. Season 3 had heavy riggory, so did 4 and 5. They were just rigged well to be entertaining seasons. Recent seasons just aren't rigged very good 💀.

Krazy K IK, I'm just saying if we were reeeeeeaally wanting to be generous, seasons 1 & 2 seemed at least somewhat about being almost fashion competitions? So they look more fairly judged on paper. Every show has riggory though.

This video makes me feel a little less sorry for Kita, thank you! :) I felt so bad for her when I heard about (stopped watching after the half-assed Scarlet "callout" episode) her win because I knew a majority of the fandom would claim she only won because giving it to any other remaining queen would've been a PR nightmare. Your analysis shows that she very well could have made it to the top in a non-rigged season!

This might be an unpopular opinion, but with Kita and Anita co-owning a club... This was the season for a double crowning! They should be the main judges for season two 😁
JUST LETTING YA KNOW: Etcetera was gonna do magic as well, she confirmed on Twitter. So yeah there’s a good chance she’d still be in the bottom cuz ru said she doesn’t like magic in general.
This narrative is really weird to me since in season 11 they literally had a magic challenge :/

The only thing I would’ve changed is that Electra would’ve still won the yeast commercial, so then when Scarlet is disqualified, it’s full circle because Electra and her had beef.

With that final 3 I feel they would have played the Kita and Anita business partners and secret friendly rivals storyline more and would make Elektra 3rd, and have the Anita vs Kita finale lip sync for the crown we deserved from episode 1! 😊
Once they brought Art for no reason the season gone downhill from there.

I still find it weird that Ru couldn't forgive H&M on the runway (when Jo Black went homeless because of the pandemic) but had no problem forgiving racism.

This is literally the season I dreamt of Kita Anita and Elektra in the finale 100% yes I probably would have done a double shantay between Etcetera and Elektra but that doesn't even matter this is near perfect! just Phenomenal!!!
I love this video and will replace the memory of the season with this guided meditation with only one adjustment - I wanted to see Elektra win for that true underdog storyline. I think she should have still won the Advert one unless Anita did something incredible, and I feel like seeing her have that respect from her bosses would have felt so amazing. She deserved 1000% better than what the judges gave her.

I do have a bit of an issue with Scarlet Adams in the sewing challenge. This might be controversial but . . . her shoulders. Asttina Mandela was torn to shreds in UK 2 for failing to disguise her fairly broad, manly shoulders which messed up her sillhouette. I honestly feel the same with Scarlet in several runways but exceptionally with her gingam print; the garments are exceptional, she does a great job wearing them and walking the runway but especially considering how her entire perspective seems to be high fem drag, taking me out of the illusion should count for something.
I agree with all but episode 7. Kitas talent was great! With scarlet gone i believe she would of won. Plus it gives kita and anita both 2 wins. Which the dynamic duo both having two wins at the finale...makes sense.
this top 5 makes perfect sense with my fantasy and it would have been such a good season with the 4 fan favourite queens in the top, two strong and popular down under queen going home soon and scarlet disqualification that would have been such a gagworthy (and satisfying) moment of Ru giving a good lesson and not the "let's forget" stupid talk

I'm glad you sent Scarlett home when the blackface surfaced on the show. I mean, this should have been caught beforehand; it's not like it was a secret. She never should have been cast on the show -- not if the show wants to protect its reputation, anyway.
And before anyone says anything about making everything political: Drag is inherently political. And the politics do not align themselves with the discriminators, but the discriminated against.
Although RuPaul, a person of colour, the only one in the room that was colour (I can't remember who the guest judge was, if any), so in that moment he was the only one qualified to say anything. Given that it is also his show, but also his community that Scarlet offended, I have to respect his decision. I don't like Scarlet, but seeing her make finals (because she deservedly did well in the season), and then lose precisely because of her past, is a bigger slap in the face than being removed from the show in my opinion. She legit had it in her hands but she lost solely because of her past. There's something satisfying about that.
@@dylantd9189 Given what I've heard from other PoC, I'm not buying that RuPaul's answer was satisfactory. RuPaul had a chance to make a statement, and the statement she made was that it's okay if you say you're sorry, although not necessarily in a convincing manner.
In any event, Scarlett should never have been on the show. A quick search would have shown the producers the problematic nature of this contestant.
@@maxsupernova I mean everyone is going to have differing opinions on the matter. At the end of the day, RuPaul is a PoC, and made a decision based on who she wants to represent her show. I just feel that saying that the decision is wrong, is invalid, because in Rupauls opinion as a PoC and a producer of a television show this was the correct call.
It would be different had RuPaul not been a PoC, but in that moment of time she did what she thought was right.

Black people from America (like myself) do not speak for the Indigenous Australian community in the slightest and tokenizing 1 person of color (who doesnt even belong to the demographic offended) to be the authority of forgiveness for white people is frankly racist in itself

Regardless, RuPaul is still a person of colour, and whilst yes, experiences are different, RuPaul still knows what Racism is, and what blackface is. And in that moment of time, she made a decision based on her experiences as a person of colour. I don't think we can say because she is not Aboriginal she can't make that decision.
Regardless, what she said was extremely important though. We focus alot on tearing down, and demanding people get cancelled or punished for their actions. Our immediate responses is for them to experience negativity of some sort. It's never about giving them the opportunity to change. There's a time and place to be a better person. What Scarlet did was horrible, but that doesn't mean we should go to her level and treat how she treated others. We have to be the bigger person and hope she learns from this. And not learn that "if I do this = punisbed/canceled", but to learn "oh right this is actually bad".
Maybe I'm an optimistic, and maybe I should be cynical and say she'll never learn, but at the end of the day, RuPaul went with giving her a chance, and I have to respect that.
Honestly with the season playing out like this I could easily see a justified Elektra win, actually fulfilling the "bottom two first episode to win" redemption story that we almost got from Bimini
Elektra’s verse in queens down under was not good, she had a great performances but that verse, girl- 💀
I thought I’d put my hat in the ringer.
In my own personal what if I made as the show progressed, I did judge in teams making Coco high placing. Maxi sends Karen home. Because Coco would only be at her 2nd time lipsyncing, I say she’d actually beat Anita and she goes home, BUT, after Scarlet gets disqualified, I think it’d make sense to have a “vote for who can come back” and I think based on track record, Anita would return, I think Maxi would go home in the makeover no matter what, and I actually have Coco winning the talent show with her fire twirling. I couldn’t decide between Elektra or Kita to win in this circumstance of Anita still going home. Either way, makes for a much better season

Drag race fans say Elektra should have won the girl groups challenge, I personally don't think she should. She shouldn't have been in the bottom, but she shouldn't have won. In fact I think Anita Wig'lit should have won the design challenge more than Elektra should have won the girl groups challenge.

Kita Mean did so much better than Elektra in snatch game. Elektra shouldnt be high anyway for that runway alone compared to Kita. Kita stumbled once but after she created improv rhymes and funny answers that was impressive

That's not what she did though, she said that she would give Scarlet the chance to grow as a person and apologise for her actions, which is what everyone should do. Let people apologise and grow to be better people.

So, this was the first season of RPDR I watched. I truly hate it. Unfair judgment. Racist queens. It was just a mess. I really don't feel like watching RPDR ever again.

I can see why Electra might not have won the Queen's down under challenge though. She did kind of outshine the rest of the group and it is kind of the leader's role to make it look kind of cohesive. But I think she should have been high at the very least
