Omg when characters do something embarrassing or cringe worthy I have to physically look away from the page, close the book or just squint when reading. This mostly happens when Harry is being stupid in both the books and the movies.
Well that's Harry Potter for you he tend to get clueless and dumb sometimes which i find it quite funny and i feel irritated to him also. anyway he's still a well written character that has many flaws (same with Newt Scamander😊) but he's the most bravest student in Hogwarts (aside from Neville of course).
Me: 1. I talk to my books 2. I literally always eat/drink when I read, but I have only ever once spilt anything on my book, hopefully, that number will not increase. 3. I hate it when the book publisher decides to change the style of the book covers half way through a series
My Top 3 Bookish facts are: • I ALWAYS judge a book by its cover. I won't buy a book unless the cover is pretty. ( Bad habit, I know. ) • When something (romantic, Heart-breaking, shocking, weird, etc) is happening in the story, I always stop my reading first and think about and then continue reading again. For instance when there is some scene that makes you cry, I will stop for a second, hug my book, think, cry then I go back to reading. • I love reading books that can take me by suprise (especially mystery/thriller books). In a good way though.
I heard so many people on book tube say that they just go up to people in bookstores and recommend books to them , I honestly think that's so cool , like I could never do that myself , because I'm just a socially awkward mess , but if anyone would come up to me in a bookstore and tell me to buy the book I'm holding because it is great , I would probably still act really awkward , but I would probably buy it and I just think it's really cool that people do that
1) Whenever I finish a book, I like to give myself at least a day to reflect on the book and what I did and/or didn't like about it. 2) I recently started to read two books at once (a fiction and a nonfiction) 3) I listen to music when I read too
Top three bookish facts (aka habits that need to stop): 1) Idk if this makes me a biased person, but I won't read a book with a rating below 3.90 because I have this horrible mindset that a book with a low rating is not a going to be a good book (a habit I seriously need to break) 2) I have no idea why, but books with a male protagonists usually don't interest me, though there have been some exceptions (again, I need to fix this) 3) There are a few exceptions of course, but I NEED MY FREAKING ROMANCE or I will have little to no desire to read it; it doesn't matter if there's only a little romance, but my main character needs to have a love interest, it just makes a story so much more entertaining! (it may or may not be because I live my nonexistent love-life through my characters...)
1) For me, it's anything below 3.5 2) I rarely read books with male protagonists too. Unless it's multi-perspective and one of them happens to be a male.
1) if a book has a rating less than 4 on good reads then I will never read that book 2) after about a week of finishing a book I will forget everything that happens in it (hence why I re-read everything) 3) I can never reader more than one book at once, my mind will only allow me to focus 100% of my attention to one book at a time
@@ender4344 I have published a couple of children's books, a MG book, some books of short stories, and the first 3 books in a fantasy series via Amazon. I am currently working on a cozy mystery. If you want to see them, you can search Elizabeth S. Tyree or Dragon on My Neck on Amazon and if you click my name it'll take you to my author page.
If you like pretty bookstores you HAVE TO go to Porto (in Portugal) and visit Lelo That bookstore was an inspiration for J K Rowling when she was writing Harry Potter so you can probably imagine how beautiful and stunning and breath taking it is
Bookish facts about me: 1. I hate covers with people on them, too. They're sickening. 2. If the character has an illness I can't read the book because I'm scared their going to die. 3. I can't read books with boring protagonists, just... no. And also protagonists with generic names.
1. I love self help/leadership books, 2. I like to read in silence 3. I have a tendency to still think about the characters/story lines after I've completed the book. How would they react to current events & social issues. Thanks for sharing your facts. I think I read night circus.
Bookish facts about me as well: 1. I yell at my books or physically slam them on my lap when certain things happen in the story, because sometimes I just want to slap characters upside the head. I'm also a writer and will talk to my laptop/notebook while writing, berating my characters for doing something dumb even though this is 100% my fault too. 2. I will take books with me everywhere - catch me in the bathtub with a novel just dangerously close to the water. I have dropped one while reading in the tub before because I'm a butterfingers, took forever to dry the pages, but now it smells like vanilla lavender. 3. I cannot read more than one book at a time. I have to finish a book completely before picking up another. I can't jump tracks easily, I can't get into one protagonists mind and world and then try to place myself in another without knowing the previous's conclusion.
I always read in public. I'm 12 and will be turning 13 in may. Want to be an actor and want to go to leeds college and study drama/performing arts because it's fun. Also I remember the only time I ever verbally sed something to a book was when I was in public with my sister. I was reading 'Murder In Midwinter' (you should definately read it) and as I got halfway through the book. I got really mad at this boy called Oliver and started wisper shouting at him to stop saying stuff to this girl. She was on a verge of being murdered and deserved comfort. Sorry but Yeh. Need to read this but. It's a classic thriller
I talk to my books all the time. My mum hates it haha. There's been times where I've been reading on the bus and I have involuntarily smiled, laughed, gasped and sometimes even cried. It's bad but I still continue to read in public and ignore everyone haha
+Iqra Arshad honestly props to you! I've actually had to get up and leave wherever I was so I could go hide in a bathroom or something and then vocalize how I'm feeling because otherwise I would have ended up yelling in a library lollll
I don't read much YA contemporary too, but there's one book that I absolutely love, it's Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng. It's more like YA/adult contemporary but kind of historical fiction too. It's amazing, poignant, and just beautiful. You should totally check that out :)
I quite literally do the exact same thing that you do Hanna! I no longer feel alone in my own little world of books thank you so much for sharing this with us!♥️♥️
my bookish facts: 1) i kind of have an unofficial rule where i won't read books without gay characters. like it's not completely always followed, but as a lesbian, i find reading about straight people overdone. i have read so many straight characters in my life that i just. don't need anymore. 2) i don't really care about the stars a book has, it's more of the reviews itself that matter to me. 3) this sounds really weird considering i'm an artist, but i have so much trouble reading graphic novels. the last graphic novel i read was decelerate blue and if i was distracted in anyway at all during that book i probably wouldn't have the drive to finish it. not that it was a bad book or anything i just Can't.
Honestly, you have to check out Waterstones. I love that when you go to this fantastic store and get a card also get all the points you get a FREE £10 note. For me romance is a genre I hate SO much.
If you ever travel around the world to the bookstore, I am coming with you. It would be so great to see huge stores or tiny ones or hidden ones. Or whatever, wherever.
3 bookish facts about me 1 - My most favourite genre is non fiction - specifically Biography and Memoirs 2 - If I do read fiction, I prefer to read books from a series rather than a stand-alone book, so I can get more of that character or world 3 - My eyes have gone bad so I have been forced to stop reading hard copy books - I now buy all my books as E-BOOKS, always from KOBO - and they are usually CHEAPER than hard copy books as well.
You're not alone. I was reading Carry On by Rainbow Rowell and I got to a cute moment (no spoilers) and I started crying and screaming about how adorable a certain character was and how these two characters were so great together and my dad walked in worried. So never fear, I do this all the time :)
+Kaitlyn Hutchinson I relate to this so much, I have done this on so many occasions with so many different books! Thank you for making me feel less alone
6:52 - I learned my lesson of not eating or drinking when i read, as i ruined a £15 book with beautiful white pages when i spilled a strong black coffee on it... and I used to always bend the spines of my books as a child because I thought that it looked cool when they looked read, but now I just sadly stare at the books I did that to, wishing I could just go back and not bend them. I love seeing a perfect book on a shelf, it's so pretty!
3 Bookish Facts (cause I am a new vlog watcher): 1. Probably more than half of the books I own are not read and are still in the TBR list (Most are series that are not finished and I tend to buy them early so as to have them the same, exact size or I just buy then not read them and wait for the series to finish) 2. Yes, I hate it when my books are not in the same edition!!! 3. I can never follow through my tbr list :( (i am a mood reader and another reason is... I tend to read books I don't own which leads to the first fact...)
Yes to 22. 100% yes, absolutely, all the time!!! Hahaha. I much prefer it however when my books make me burst into laughter. It happened to me on the bus the other day. Such is life. Hehe.
Girl I do the exact same thing with the number of books I read at once!!! I'm an exceptionally moody reader and can't stay on one book for a whole day, I love switching things up so much and don't think I can ever just read one book at once!!! So glad I'm not the only one
I'm so happy you said you love music while you read! I was going to link you an instrumental playlist for Uprooted but decided not to because i didn't think you listened to music while reading :( now i definitely will link you for our next buddy read! (I listen to music for 70% of the books i read!). x
Omg yes! We should totally plan a playlist for whatever we read next! (especially for ToG 5 because I already have some songs that I think would work perfectly)
I talk to books CONSTANTLY. You are not alone. Sometimes I talk to the characters and sometimes I talk to the authors. I also talk about books consistantly. My family members hardly ever read the same books that I do but they could all write a detailed book report on them because I talk about them non stop.
Hannah! I know you're a huge fan of The Night Circus, buy what did you think of Caraval? Personally, I thought it was even better (please don't gasp audibly or yell at your screen and being your mom or sister in to find out what's wrong ;)) Also, 3 bookish facts about me:1. I can't read horror because I'm a complete scaredy-cat. It literally gives me nightmares, even at this age!2. I LOVE love triangles - throw that trope at me, it never gets old!3. I was so obsessed with Twilight I named my son Cullen (I'm so glad I'm not the only one haha!)
I'm similar to you with so many of these. I've recently bought a Kobo and it's so much easier to bring books with me everywhere. I'm totally the awkward person that reads a book during a social event. I love the idea of travelling to different book stores. Visiting different libraries would also be fun. I'm impressed that you can listen to music while reading. I need complete silence.
I used to have to read in silence too and I don't know what made me finally able to read with music but it suddenly happened loll. Lolll I'm also turning into a person who reads at social events - I've just come to prioritize it 😂😂
I agree about maps in books and people on covers! I never realized people ate while they ate until I started watching booktube. I don't want to get anything on mine... I will drink coffee while reading though, because I need it to be coherent.
Top 3 bookish facts about me 1) I'm very picky when it comes to reading a new book, if it doesn't grab me within the first chapter or the first few pages then I will not continue to read it. 2) I prefer science fiction over fantasy (i'm so sorry for all those fantasy readers) I just cannot seem to wrap my head around the fantasy world. It's just the science fiction world seems easy for me to understand. 3) I want to be a writer and I actually have a book that's finished but I'm not going to publish it right away I'm going to wait until I finish my masters in psychology because the book has a lot to do with psychology
I don't often have out-loud reactions, but it happens, and I use it as a measure of effectiveness. There is one book I read a few years ago called Girlchild, where the author just said something so subtlety but when my brain registered everything it meant, I was floored. I, like, groaned. It was like a OMG of pain that escaped my lips and that was when I knew I was reading something special.
Oh yeah absolutely! Even if I'm not loving a book, if it elicits some form of physical reaction from me in that way, I have to give it some credit. Example: I pretty much hated Shatter Me but I have to give the book props for breaking the record of most times I have rolled my eyes and yelled at a main character.
Your bookish facts I relate to: 1) I always read more than one book at the time, or rather start many at the same time. Lately I try to finish books I started, because I feel like I wouldn't finish them otherwise (ekhem, Rainbow Rowell's books) 2) I own loads of bookmarks, but never ever use them. (Tho I would like to lol) When I was younger I always was putting book open, with the pages faced down. That's why so many of my books have broken spines... (Especially Mark of Athena. Damn, my copy is so demaged because of this...) Now days I don't do that, instead I just remember the page or put weird things to mark it. Last time I read I used a pack of eyeglass wipe 3) I don't really yell at books, I rather rant about them to my friends. But sometimes I can't do that, because I would spoil them... This happened when I was reading Fangirl. I marked basically everything what annoyed me or made me roll my eyes and I put notecards in it. Sometimes I wrote just "lol", but other times it was a whole rant on Cath and her stupidity. (I kinda liked her though. She was like younger sister; annoying but I cared about her.) 4) On this note, I don't really like contemporary either. Rainbow Rowell succesfully convinced me that I prefer fantastic problems to the real life ones. I love your videos, and this one was so fun to watch!
1: I'm less likely going to read a book if unsubtly hints at romance in the description ('Teamed up with a cute boy'...) But I love romance in books anyway (yes I know how inconsistent this is) 2: I like books that seem slightly worn, it gives them a distinctness 3: Books are friends, not food 4: I'm completely silent when reading and laser focus on books 5: I too often start a book, then abandon it a few chapters in. I have at least 18 books with bookmarks right now.
1) I don't actually ignore people when I read. I can perfectly have a conversation and read without getting angry or having to make eye-contact. 2) If it is a hard cover, and if the sleeve is not attached with tape, glue, etc, I will 80% of the time remove the shell while I am reading. 3) My bookshelf is like a giant TBR (to be read list). On the left of the shelf are the books I want to read, in order that I want to read them. This includes series, trilogies, etc. Once I finish a book, I put it all the way on the bottom right hand side of the shelf like its a giant train of books. I keep doing this until I have read all the books on my shelf and I move those to my basement library.
I haven't read "Harry Poter" :D maybe one day I can't drink or eat while I'm reading, too! I like reading one book at the time, but sometimes I read 2, especially when I have some books that I have to read for school or e-books :)
The bookstore trip is an amazing idea--some places have really cool ones. I don't yell to the characters in books but I have cussed out the authors. *cough* Mockingjay *cough* I have laughed in public while reading though. I think it's fine to be a reader and not a writer. It's not for everyone. We writers need audiences. 1. I always keep a book in my purse. You never know. 2. I often buy books based off their covers. I'm beginning to look for the "pretty" editions of books because I want a gorgeous bookshelf in my future house. 3. I too am guilty for the bookmark thing. Receipts, straw wrappers, napkins, money. The weirdest item was probably an actual straw. Though I just bought some cat ones that you color first and I'm going to try and use those because they are so cute! I want to get/make some of those magnetic ones, too. 4. I have been reading on my own since I was 4 and writing since I was 8. The Goosebumps books definitely made me more obsessed though. 5. My love for reading came from my grandmother reading to me. I wanted her to do it so much (sometimes I'd ask if she would read the same book again!) that she eventually just recorded herself reading aloud and would play it so she wouldn't kill her voice/throat. She would even tell me when to turn the page.
I'm actually cracking up at the fact that you have used an actual straw for a bookmark. I've had some weird things that I've used as a bookmark (a quarter, a stray flashcard that I made for a class) but this is the first I've heard of an actual straw. That's amazing.
I hate cracked spines on books. I take the same amount of care with my books and if I lend a book to someone I give a clear instruction that they aren't to crack the spine or fold the pages. If they were to return it to me damaged the shit would hit the fan
1. When I read I can't read very much in one sitting. After three chapters or so (sometimes based on how interesting the book is) i need to take it down and do something else, but i go quickly back to it 2. I really can't binge series. When I loved the first book i often directly start the second one (If I have it), but i lose interest in it very fast (no matter how good the book actually is; i just need something new everytime). That's also why i recently started to read like 2 books at the same time. 3. I'm so bad at deciding, so i cut out a piece of paper and write the name of the new book i got on it, so i have a little glass with all my TBR books. When I wanna read a new book i pick a paper and read the book.
Curious, what would you do if you damaged one of your books? And I good YA contemporary book is I'll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson. It's about twins who have fallen out and you read from both perspectives one from the past and the other in the present.
It depends on how badly I damage the book and what book it is. If it's one of my all time favorite books and it's very noticeable, like water damage or something, I'd probably replace the book. If it's just like a small tear in the dust jacket or a crease on the cover, it will piss me off, but I'll just leave it alone. I'll Give You The Sun is near the top of my TBR actually! I've heard only good things so I'm hoping I like that one!
Hahaha I can relate to no. 22!! I've found that I subconsciously wink when I'm reading and it says someone winked too. I'm not sure if you've already read it but a YA I would recommend is Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson :)
This is an old video but I recently found your videos and I was introduced to the world of booktube and I didn't think there was anything like this, I love it so much About my three facts I would say 3 of them we share, like I also can't stand my books getting damaged because I suffer, (i had a book I bought that unfortunately got a bit scratched on the cover while it was in my luggage and I can't see anything else when I look at my shelve) I also don't like covers where there are people in it, it kind of break up my visuals? I like to read and imagine the characters and those pics limit that, also I'm more inclined to love book covers that have illustrations in it I love pretty books and usually only look at a book description if it has a pretty cover
I'm the same! I hate bending the page and cracking the spine. I won't lend them out to people who don't take care of them. Also I would spend extra money to get the original cover vs. movie tie in cover...I don't know why but I can't buy movie cover books!
You're not the only person who gasps out loud or expresses your emotions to your books. I do that all the time, most recently while reading Children of Blood and Bone so loudly that my parents barged into my room asking "what happened!? are you okay?" and I responded with "yes, this book is just destroying me but I'll be fine."
I am always reading three or four books at one time. I take books with me when I am in a car or at work. I am also very stingy with my books as well. My favorite genres are fantasy, classic literature (especially Jane Austen). I also hate to sell my books even when I am short on cash. My favorite book stores are Barnes & Noble and Half Price Books.
+Kylie Widseth Omg I'd love some recommendations! I want to like the genre, I just haven't found too many books that have wowed me. Two YA contemporaries that I LOVE are Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
+A Clockwork Reader Perks of Being a Wallflower is one of the greatest books. One of my favorite authors is Jodi Picoult, she is absolutely amazing! Her more popular ones are My Sister's Keeper, Nineteen Minutes, and The Pact! I love The Pact and Change of Heart most. I've never been so emotionally affected by a novel. A less well-known author I love is Lurlene McDaniel, but I know some people who do not like her. Of course, Me Before You is extremely popular right now, and that book is SO good. Every Last Word and All the Bright Places are really good! I didn't love them as much as most people, but they are really good. Okay, I'm going to stop now before I write a full essay here...
+Kylie Widseth I've actually really been wanting to pick up Me Before You! Thank you so much for all of these recommendations, I'll definitely be adding some of these to my TBR!
One fact I found interesting in particular was that you love reading plays.. because I love theater and acting but I HATE reading plays :D I just love to be surprised when I see something on stage and not yet know the story of it. Also I just find plays in general super dull as there's not much description of scenery and characters or feelings and thoughts.
Im anal about my books being perfect too! Twilight retainer thats awesome!! Yes buying books bc of their cover for the WIN:) That world bookstore goal sounds epic and would be alot of fun:) This video was lovely thank you for sharing
Once I gets started reading a book which is a series I end up reading all the books from that series even if I don't like any book from it Another one is I keep writing the words I didn't understand and make a vocabulary list I don't like reading ebooks but books I want to read is not affordable I have to read it vertually
I have gotten in the habit of screeching like a dying raptor as a way to express my emotions even if what I'm currently reading isn't very crazy I just screech because I love the book/ I'm remembering something that happened/ I get excited cause something I predicted happened... ...I did it so loud today that one of my family members checked to see if I was okay...
My bookish facts: •I always read with music •I have full conversation with a character while reading, even in public •I prefer to buy books over going to the library(but i will!!)
I literally do the same thing as you!!! Like I will actually start yelling at my books because I am either so excited or frustrated. I cannot read in public and when I do, people look at me like I'm crazy😂
I am just as fastidious about the quality of my books as you! My family members make fun of me for it but they just don't get it...so I rarely let them borrow my books anymore. Spines are important!
1) My favorite genres are fantasy, and crime (both fictional and true) 2) I like hard backs because I can’t look at a broken book 3) I love love love black leather bound books with gold text on the spine (the front and back needs to be blank)
I don’t know if I’m the only one but, I always search people on Pinterest that look like the main characters and than while reading I see them. Sometimes I have to reread some lines because I want that scene in my head to be perfect 😅💕
1) I love to listen to music while I read a book. 2) I will talk about books forever to friends and refuse to let random people touch them. 3) My idea of a great day is heading into the city to Strand Bookstore and finding a great book to read & stealing their bookmarks. *P.S its where I found the Night Circus in hardcover for $13.50*
I once managed to spill coffee all over my copy of Brisingr and guess what - I like it even more now! It looks and feels like parchment now, so rustic and vintage.looking. :P
TOP 3 BOOKISH FACTS ABOUT ME: 1) I have a bad habit of reading the end of a book before I even start it. 2) If I really loved the book, I would try to hunt for it at bargain bookstores. 3) I belong to two book clubs, paranormal book club (which I tend to read more now) and after austen book club (we mostly read either austen type books or historical fiction which is one of my least favorite genres).
Reading multiple books at once is also something I do! I love being able to switch between different worlds. I once lent out one of my entire Harry Potter sets to a 'friend', and not only did she gave it back ONE YEAR later, the first book was completely destroyed!! (Fortunately she only read the first one and not more!). We're not friends anymore haha ;)
Oh nooo! Honestly I don't blame you though. My mom is actually the one who's terrible at taking care of my books and she's ruined so many of mine, but unfortunately you can't unfriend your mom 😂
I don't eat when I'm reading either. I can read French and some Italian so I have foreign editions of my favourite books either in paperback or on my iBooks. I can't have music playing while I'm reading. It distracts me. I still LOVE music don't get me wrong, just not when I'm reading :).
I totally get that! I used to not be able to listen music while reading either, it just became a habit overtime. Also that's so great that you can read in multiple languages! I've always wished I could, especially because I can speak another language lolll
What language can you speak? It was a requirement at school to be able to speak French, as I took French GCSE and A Level. I've just worked the same with Italian and it seems to have payed off. I need to start German soon!
Enjoyed your bookish facts. Me: 1) I don’t scream at characters but I do scream at authors when they end a book in a cliffhanger. 2) I love using fancy bookmarks. 3) I actually like people on the covers and am more apt to buy a book with a person on it. Not sure why :-)
This is one year old but I need to get this off my chest. 1. I argue with my books. If a certain character or situation pisses me off I start to argue with them and then proceed to close and throw the book only to come back and continue where I left off. I've even yelled at the pages. 2. I really don't care about reviews. At all. If a book sounds interesting to me I will read it regardless of the reviews. Then do I dictate wether it sucks or not. 3. I have a habit of buying dollar store books even though I know they might suck. I rummage through the shelves of the dollar store and find those that sound good enough and since they're a dollar...I buy them. I found one of my favorite books this way.
Omg when characters do something embarrassing or cringe worthy I have to physically look away from the page, close the book or just squint when reading. This mostly happens when Harry is being stupid in both the books and the movies.
write OMG with capital G because u r referring it to God @zohalArabzada
@@adinarizwan6509 they could be referring to if as "gosh".... You never know...
Zohal Arbabzada Lol same!!
Me:
1. I talk to my books
2. I literally always eat/drink when I read, but I have only ever once spilt anything on my book, hopefully, that number will not increase.
3. I hate it when the book publisher decides to change the style of the book covers half way through a series
I agree with #3 and it LITERALLY gives me anxiety
I agree
I eat and read too
My Top 3 Bookish facts are:
• I ALWAYS judge a book by its cover. I won't buy a book unless the cover is pretty. ( Bad habit, I know. )
• When something (romantic, Heart-breaking, shocking, weird, etc) is happening in the story, I always stop my reading first and think about and then continue reading again.
2) I recently started to read two books at once (a fiction and a nonfiction)
3) I listen to music when I read too
Top three bookish facts (aka habits that need to stop):
1) Idk if this makes me a biased person, but I won't read a book with a rating below 3.90 because I have this horrible mindset that a book with a low rating is not a going to be a good book (a habit I seriously need to break)
2) I have no idea why, but books with a male protagonists usually don't interest me, though there have been some exceptions (again, I need to fix this)
3) There are a few exceptions of course, but I NEED MY FREAKING ROMANCE or I will have little to no desire to read it; it doesn't matter if there's only a little romance, but my main character needs to have a love interest, it just makes a story so much more entertaining! (it may or may not be because I live my nonexistent love-life through my characters...)
siomara ortiz you and I are literally the same person especially for 2 and 3
Emma Swan haha hey bookish twin XD
1) For me, it's anything below 3.5
2) I rarely read books with male protagonists too. Unless it's multi-perspective and one of them happens to be a male.
siomara ortiz I'M EXACTLY THE SAME OMG
Jesus saves I can totally relate
1) if a book has a rating less than 4 on good reads then I will never read that book
2) after about a week of finishing a book I will forget everything that happens in it (hence why I re-read everything)
3) I can never reader more than one book at once, my mind will only allow me to focus 100% of my attention to one book at a time
You're not alone. I yell at my books too :))).
😊💕
Winter Sonnet same
My problem as well 😖
Oh yeah I yell at my books too. Or I start talking to myself about what is happening

Not only do I talk to my books, I am also an author and will yell at my characters as I'm writing them. It has caused an issue or two, not gonna lie.
OMG that's great!!!
:P
Elizabeth Tyree what book are you writing or have already published?
@@ender4344 I have published a couple of children's books, a MG book, some books of short stories, and the first 3 books in a fantasy series via Amazon. I am currently working on a cozy mystery.
If you want to see them, you can search Elizabeth S. Tyree or Dragon on My Neck on Amazon and if you click my name it'll take you to my author page.
If you like pretty bookstores you HAVE TO go to Porto (in Portugal) and visit Lelo
That bookstore was an inspiration for J K Rowling when she was writing Harry Potter so you can probably imagine how beautiful and stunning and breath taking it is
I Start crying in the middle of my Math class for a sad book i end up in detention
Iv3 done this more than once
yeah I
I absolutely shout at my book characters. How else are they to learn ?!
Bookish facts about me:
1. I hate covers with people on them, too. They're sickening.
2. If the character has an illness I can't read the book because I'm scared their going to die.
3. I can't read books with boring protagonists, just... no. And also protagonists with generic names.
then you'll never be able to read TFIOS.....btw, if you haven't you SHOULD read that!!!
I yell at books or complain to them (or laugh out loud) all the time, too. xD
1. I love self help/leadership books, 2. I like to read in silence 3. I have a tendency to still think about the characters/story lines after I've completed the book. How would they react to current events & social issues.
Thanks for sharing your facts. I think I read night circus.
+Sadrea M I do that with characters sometimes too! It's always fun to imagine what they're doing after the book ends! :)
Bookish facts about me as well:
I will add it to my list! Thank you ☺️
I am always using receipts or scraps of pallet as bookmarks. I love bookmarks but I always loose them!
I quite literally do the exact same thing that you do Hanna! I no longer feel alone in my own little world of books thank you so much for sharing this with us!♥️♥️
my bookish facts:
1) i kind of have an unofficial rule where i won't read books without gay characters. like it's not completely always followed, but as a lesbian, i find reading about straight people overdone. i have read so many straight characters in my life that i just. don't need anymore.
I screamed at Jace so many times!!! LOL
6:30 lol my exact reaction while reading the book
Honestly, you have to check out Waterstones. I love that when you go to this fantastic store and get a card also get all the points you get a FREE £10 note. For me romance is a genre I hate SO much.
If you ever travel around the world to the bookstore, I am coming with you. It would be so great to see huge stores or tiny ones or hidden ones. Or whatever, wherever.
It's a plan! ☺️
3 bookish facts about me
1 - My most favourite genre is non fiction - specifically Biography and Memoirs
2 - If I do read fiction, I prefer to read books from a series rather than a stand-alone book, so I can get more of that character or world
3 - My eyes have gone bad so I have been forced to stop reading hard copy books - I now buy all my books as E-BOOKS, always from KOBO - and they are usually CHEAPER than hard copy books as well.
I love theatre too and I think it would be cool if you made a video on some of your favorite plays that you have read!
I actually have a play recommendation video up already! 😊
3 Bookish Facts (cause I am a new vlog watcher):
1. Probably more than half of the books I own are not read and are still in the TBR list (Most are series that are not finished and I tend to buy them early so as to have them the same, exact size or I just buy then not read them and wait for the series to finish)
2. Yes, I hate it when my books are not in the same edition!!!
3. I can never follow through my tbr list :( (i am a mood reader and another reason is... I tend to read books I don't own which leads to the first fact...)
I hope one day you go to Livraria Lello in Porto, Portugal, it is one of the prettiest bookstores in the world!
This is the most relatable thing I’ve ever seen.
Yo, that rant about Jace gives me life.
Yes to 22. 100% yes, absolutely, all the time!!!
(I listen to music for 70% of the books i read!). x
+PixieTonic I sometimes listen to instrumentals in the background, while I'm watching lecture. So basically music at almost any time.
Similar but different to when you said you wanted to visit book stores, I think I would like to visit different libraries all over the world. ☺️
Top 3 bookish facts about me
1) I'm very picky when it comes to reading a new book, if it doesn't grab me within the first chapter or the first few pages then I will not continue to read it.
6:28 "Yelling at books . . ." No, youre NOT the "only one..."
Mabye you can do a video about how you take care of your books? That would be really fun!
Ohhhh that's a cool idea! I will definitely add that to my list (and credit you of course if I make it!)
Your bookish facts I relate to:
1) I always read more than one book at the time, or rather start many at the same time. Lately I try to finish books I started, because I feel like I wouldn't finish them otherwise (ekhem, Rainbow Rowell's books)
2) I own loads of bookmarks, but never ever use them. Last time I read I used a pack of eyeglass wipe
3) I don't really yell at books, I rather rant about them to my friends. She was like younger sister; annoying but I cared about her.)
4) On this note, I don't really like contemporary either. Rainbow Rowell succesfully convinced me that I prefer fantastic problems to the real life ones.
I love your videos, and this one was so fun to watch!
1: I'm less likely going to read a book if unsubtly hints at romance in the description ('Teamed up with a cute boy'...) But I love romance in books anyway (yes I know how inconsistent this is)
2: I like books that seem slightly worn, it gives them a distinctness
3: Books are friends, not food
4: I'm completely silent when reading and laser focus on books
5: I too often start a book, then abandon it a few chapters in. I have at least 18 books with bookmarks right now.
Hey Hannah! I've been watching your channel for a little while now and I love it ~ and yes I react to my books when I'm reading to! 😂
I LOVE LISTENING TO MUSIC WHILE READING!
how did you protect your book?
I haven't read "Harry Poter" :D maybe one day
I can't drink or eat while I'm reading, too!
Though I just bought some cat ones that
you color first and I'm going to try and use those because they are so cute!
OH MY GOSH! I yell at the authors a lot when I'm reading books. Lol. I thought I was the only one.
I'm actually cracking up at the fact that you have used an actual straw for a bookmark. I've had some weird things that I've used as a bookmark (a quarter, a stray flashcard that I made for a class) but this is the first I've heard of an actual straw. That's amazing.
If you like dark comedy plays, I recommend Hand To God and anything by Martin McDonaugh
I hate cracked spines on books. I take the same amount of care with my books and if I lend a book to someone I give a clear instruction that they aren't to crack the spine or fold the pages. If they were to return it to me damaged the shit would hit the fan
I love plays and theater too I’m a theater major In school
I can relate to most of the things you said ☺️❤️
1. When I read I can't read very much in one sitting. After three chapters or so (sometimes based on how interesting the book is) i need to take it down and do something else, but i go quickly back to it
I bring a book or two everywhere. What if I do have like 10 minutes to kill? Hey now I can read for 10 minutes!! Loved this! NEW FAN!!!!
Hahaha I can relate to no. 22!! I've found that I subconsciously wink when I'm reading and it says someone winked too.
I'm not sure if you've already read it but a YA I would recommend is Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson :)
I haven't read it so thank you for the rec! I'll check it out 😊
This is an old video but I recently found your videos and I was introduced to the world of booktube and I didn't think there was anything like this, I love it so much
About my three facts I would say 3 of them we share, like I also can't stand my books getting damaged because I suffer, (i had a book I bought that unfortunately got a bit scratched on the cover while it was in my luggage and I can't see anything else when I look at my shelve)
I also don't like covers where there are people in it, it kind of break up my visuals? I like to read and imagine the characters and those pics limit that, also I'm more inclined to love book covers that have illustrations in it
I love pretty books and usually only look at a book description if it has a pretty cover
You're not alone I also verbally express my anger if a character does something I don't appreciate
The one about not reading books with people on the cover is so true for me
I am always reading three or four books at one time. I take books with me when I am in a car or at work. I am also very stingy with my books as well. My favorite genres are fantasy, classic literature (especially Jane Austen). I also hate to sell my books even when I am short on cash. My favorite book stores are Barnes & Noble and Half Price Books.
I got write a whole list of amazing YA contemporary books! My heart broke a little when you said it's not your favorite genre.
Yes buying books bc of their cover for the WIN:)
That world bookstore goal sounds epic and would be alot of fun:)
This video was lovely thank you for sharing
Thank you! ☺️☺️
I loooooove reading aloud and understand the content much better. Everyone thinks I'm so weird.
love it! my very first video was this tag :)
Omg same I will yell or gasp at my book while reading and I also don’t eat with a book oh hand because I can’t multitask for the life of me
Same, I can't eat while doing work either
Once I gets started reading a book which is a series I end up reading all the books from that series even if I don't like any book from it
Another one is I keep writing the words I didn't understand and make a vocabulary list
I don't like reading ebooks but books I want to read is not affordable I have to read it vertually
Wow, I love this video so much and this is so cool. Wow, so nice.
My bookish facts:
•I always read with music
•I have full conversation with a character while reading, even in public
•I prefer to buy books over going to the library(but i will!!)
Getting the pretty editions of books is important! I'm totally with you lol.
Yessss 🙌🏽🙌🏽 It also adds to the bookshelf aesthetic lolll
I literally do the same thing as you!!! Like I will actually start yelling at my books because I am either so excited or frustrated. I cannot read in public and when I do, people look at me like I'm crazy😂
I am just as fastidious about the quality of my books as you! My family members make fun of me for it but they just don't get it...so I rarely let them borrow my books anymore. Spines are important!
you're videos are the best
1) My favorite genres are fantasy, and crime (both fictional and true)
2) I like hard backs because I can’t look at a broken book
3) I love love love black leather bound books with gold text on the spine (the front and back needs to be blank)
I don’t know if I’m the only one but, I always search people on Pinterest that look like the main characters and than while reading I see them. Sometimes I have to reread some lines because I want that scene in my head to be perfect 😅💕
Agreed with your last fact, none of my friends likes to read and after few minutes they start ignoring me... :)
1) I love to listen to music while I read a book.
2) I will talk about books forever to friends and refuse to let random people touch them.
3) My idea of a great day is heading into the city to Strand Bookstore and finding a great book to read & stealing their bookmarks.
*P.S its where I found the Night Circus in hardcover for $13.50*
I only read the Deathly Hollows before the movie came out, such a shame! Don't worry I gaps so bad when I read, especially in public
I once managed to spill coffee all over my copy of Brisingr and guess what - I like it even more now! It looks and feels like parchment now, so rustic and vintage.looking. :P
I can totally understand how people love their books that way! You can tell they've been read and loved 💕
Someone else who reads multiple books at a time! Everyone always thinks I'm crazy for reading three or four books at once.
I used to read multiple books at once but now I read one at a time.
TOP 3 BOOKISH FACTS ABOUT ME:
1) I have a bad habit of reading the end of a book before I even start it.
2) If I really loved the book, I would try to hunt for it at bargain bookstores.
3) I belong to two book clubs, paranormal book club (which I tend to read more now) and after austen book club (we mostly read either austen type books or historical fiction which is one of my least favorite genres).
I also yell at my books, and I do it in public as well. Yes people look at me, but I just openly stare back until they look away! Woop woop
I go one step further when lending books and actually have my own library kit so I know EXACTLY who and where my books go to.
Omg that's so cool!!
I dead multiple books are once too, because I like to have different variants
*read
I read so many books at one time. But they have to be very different or I confuse them. I also like hardbacks better!
Yeah I agree! It's hard to read like 5 high fantasy books at once because it's so easy to mix up the world.
